I kind of understand what he's saying. Atlanta always had **** goaltending and defense. Marty was largely hit or miss during his tenure here, and the D was solid, if unspectacular. But Kovalchuk has played with superstars up front. Savard, Heatley, Hossa, Elias, Parise are veryyyy good players.

Congrats, @moustic! France started off playing pretty poorly, but really got stronger as the tournament went on. Their road to the final was pretty much as tough as it gets (Argentina, Brazil, Belgium). Really impressive effort from them.

As of now, they have about 15 million in cap space. William Karlsson is due a massive raise right now- likely will get 6.5+. Shea Theodore needs a new deal- could get 2+ if they bridge him or 4+ if they give him a Severson deal. Nosek will likely make at least 1.5 million. Next year, Nate Schmidt needs a new deal- he will likely get at least 5 or 6 million. Tuch is due next year as well. They're in fine shape right now, but things will get dicey soon if they aren't careful, and they arent being careful.

It is absolutely a horrible contract. Fleury's deal kicks in when he is 35 and it runs through his 37 year old season. For a goalie who has been largely inconsistent, and relies on athleticism, paying a goalie 7 million aav in his mid-late 30s does not seem like a good gamble.

Yeah, I could see him definitely challenging in a year. I actually would not be surprised if he gets a very long look in camp this year, getting into some preseason games, but electing to send him back. Of course, Hynes will keep him if he earns him, but I hope they err on the side of caution with Smith. Baring trades, locks will be: Severson, Vatanen, Butcher, Greene. This is a big year for Mueller and Santini. Mueller is in the last year of his two-year deal and should get an extended look. Santini, I'm not very high on but he should get his fair share of games.

Ty Smith had a hat trick in today's scrimmage

Maroon is p stupid for taking that deal--- it's such a risk for him. If he gets hurt, or has a subpar year, he may have potentially left 10+ million on the table. He has made 10.5 million dollars to date. Insane.

At the time, NJ had Larsson, Severson, Merrill, and Gelinas as the set-in-stone top 4 for the future. Two of the four didn't pan out; one was traded away and didn't hit his potential; Severson is a top four dman, but not without his warts. Andy Greene is still playing on the top four, and there's a chance Mirco Muelller will, too. At the time, NJ had jack **** for forwards. Now, we have Hall, Hischier, Palmieri, Johansson, Coleman, and Bratt. Along with Zajac and Zacha. My point---always go BPA. Provorov should've been the pick. However, Barzal was my choice at the time(as I shared with your sentiment at the time). There were enough red flags at the time about Zacha: sub-ppg, questionable hockey IQ, too many penalties/suspensions. Zacha is/was a useful player at 20 year old, and will get better. But there were a lot of people pretty pissed off at the time.

Would you guys make this trade, and risk losing Karlsson for nothing if he has no interest in re-signing? Because there is no way in hell Karlsson is going to re-sign here immediately. Zacha, 2019 first?
-
He's actually broken a lot of stories this summer. I haven't trusted him in the past, but he clearly has sources nowadays. I would take Johnson and Callahan for a 4th. It's a lot of salary to take on, but it solves our 2C hole for a couple of seasons.

Hall-Hischier-Palmieri Johansson-Zacha-Bratt Coleman-Zajac-Noesen Wood-Boyle-x Although, I still think they have to sign Noesen, right? Indeed, there is not much room up front. I'd bet my bottom dollar Anderson and McLeod start in Binghamton
-
-Schneider should be better when he's back - Palmieri and Johansson should play more -Natural progression from Bratt, Hischier, Wood, Zacha -Butcher should be getting most of Moore's minutes= big upgrade -UFAs like de Haan, and Maroon could help All of these things won't happen and they're a Hall injury away from being screwed, but there is a clear path to being better. I am in the camp that says Shero needs to do more this offseason, however.
-
Philly got better. They got JVR and got rid of Filp and Manning
-
Shero has really done a good job avoiding landmines. I agree with Tri in that the last one he has to avoid is Luca Sbisa, because that dude is ass. I would still like to sign de Haan to a 4/16 deal, and retain Maroon if the term is right (nothing over 3 years). Duclair would be a nice, cheap option as well.

Devils name Chuck Fletcher Senior Advisor to the GM/Hockey Ops
Derlique replied to MadDog2020's topic in Hell
There isn't really any. IIRC, Russo said that when Shero lost his job in Pittsburgh, Fletcher wanted to bring him in as an advisor (similar role). Pittsburgh, however, blocked it. I think it's just one friend doing another a solid. -
He plays the LJ role, or at least should be...

Devils name Chuck Fletcher Senior Advisor to the GM/Hockey Ops
Derlique replied to MadDog2020's topic in Hell
Russo said that Fletcher is taking the year off (from GMing) to stay in Minnesota for his son's senior year of high school. Then, he will look for a GM job. I don't know if he takes a job as an assistant. -
I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 million. This is going to be his last chance to cash out big, so I hope Shero can sign him to something reasonable. I'd like him back, but not going to lose sleep if he moves on.
-
LeBrun says we're still in the mix for Maroon. I like him, but I really hope we don't go more than 3 years.
-
IIRC, his possession numbers really took a nosedive when he came back from his injury. It seemed like he was never able to get back up to speed upon returning. A lot of Gibbons' value came from the PK. If Gibbons doesn't return, I think they'll run some combo of Zajac, Coleman, Zacha, Hischier, and Bratt on the PK. However, do you want a 21,20, and 19 year old on that unit?

David Pagnotta @TheFourthPeriod FollowingFollowing @TheFourthPeriod MoCapitals officially announced they’ve re-signed Kempny to a 4-year, $10M deal Damnnnn. I wanted Kempny if de Haan doesn't work out. For a guy who was about to get go to Europe after the season, getting a cup and a 10 million dollar contract isn't the worst way to spend 3 months.
-
Man, I'll be very curious to see what/who Brian Gibbons ends up with. If you asked me in December if Gibbons was going to be a Devil in 18-19, I'd say 'yes'. The way he ended the year, I don't know. The fact that we haven't heard any rumors might be telling.
-
The 35+ rule only applies when they sign the contract, not when the contract runs through
-
6 years takes us through his 29-34 year old years. I'd rather do something like 5 years x 7 million, but I don't know if he takes that
