  1. PK- I think he's worth giving a small raise. I understand your thought process of he hasn't played 800k good this year and his play this year at 1mil would be even worse, but I think we can all agree that last year he was worth even more than 1mil. I think his play will level out next year giving him a small raise to keep him would not be out of order and wouldn't really hurt us with our cap situation either.
  2. It really is a shame that this happened, but I really have a feeling he's done for good. He was a real solid dman for us and we really could use a guy like him this year. If we had him from the beginning of the season, it really could have made a difference. We would not have had to play more than 1 rookie and we could have relegated Greene to the bottom pairing or at least kept his minutes against top lines down. Our d would look like this: Volchenkov-Tallinder Salvador-White Greene-Taormina We could've switched up Sal with Greene at times to keep the rookie with a more defensive dman and that would've worked well imo.
  3. Thank you lol. I think as solid a 5-6 guy we're going to find, so unless we get a good offer for him at the deadline, I say keep him. We CANNOT pay him more than 1.5mil though. If we do that and we sign another top 4 dman that's an offensive minded guy that will put up 35+pts, we will be fine on D. There's just no sense in dumping Greene and then overpaying for a 5-6 guy who's a UFA or worse yet, playing more youngsters that aren't ready for the NHL. I have a feeling we'll never see a healthy Salvador again, so we're definitely gonna need to sign another dman this offseason to improve our D.
  4. As much as a higher draft pick would be more beneficial than struggling our way up to 9-10th in the conference, I do not in any way, shape or form support the idea that the team should not put out 110% and want to win every game. I'm not sure if you're saying that you'd like to see us tank purposely or not, but that's just my 2 cents on the matter.
  5. i don't think he's nearly as bad as he's been this year, but he's nowhere near as good as he was last year either. He's not a top 4 dman, no way. He's a solid 5-6 guy and I think if we don't get a decent offer for him at the deadline this year, he's worth resigning if he'll sign for around 1-1.2mil. We do that our d corps could be ok next year if we sign a top 4 guy in the offseason. The d could look like this: Volchenkov-UFA(hopefully somebody who has a decent offensive game and can put up 35+pts) Tallinder-White Greene-Taormina
  6. Worst comes to worst, we can waive Zubrus. I understand he's appreciated on these boards for his consistent hard work, but he can't finish to save his life. He's not worth 3.4mil, he's no better than 2-2.5mil and I'd take any trade offered up for him if it benefited us more than waiving him would. Nothing against Zubrus, he's got great work ethic and shows it night in and night out, but he just doesn't put up the numbers to justify his salary. I know that can be said for just about everybody on the team this year, but I feel like Zubrus has lacked in that dept. since he was signed.
  7. Andy Greene is a 5-6 guy, nothing more, nothing less. He's a solid 5-6 guy, but he really should never have played in the top 4. Last year he played way better than he really is and this year he's playing worse than he really is. I think he's worth 1-1.5mil, 2mil is too much for him. He's no spring chicken, so I don't think he's going to improve much over the next few years.
  8. Thank you for another completely useless post.
  9. 1.Volchenkov 2.White 3.Tallinder(I think he's better than he's looked because he's a mid pairing guy playing a few too many minutes, kinda like Mottau, but better than him) 4.Taormina(great offensive game, but is lacking in our own end) 5.Green(I never thought he was as good as he played last year and he's showing it now) 6.Corrente 7.Fayne 8.Fraser 9.Magnan 6-9 are all pretty much interchangeable, no one has really sood out for me from this group.
  10. Yep, you got it, trade Elias, he's a bum anyways. Not like he leads the team in points or anything. The guy's worthless. The guy's on track for about 20 goals and 40 assists if he keeps at the pace he's at now. It's not too far fetched to imagine he picks it up down the stretch and puts up around 70 points. I'd say that's not bad for a guy who's 34. It's better than that younger, more talented guy who gets paid another $600K per year than he does. Better than that, I'd not only keep Elias, I'd definitely resign him after next season, albeit for much less than he's making now. I'd say 5-7mil for 2 more years would be fair. I think he could put up numbers similar to Selanne in Anaheim, maybe not quite as productive, but I think he sees the ice better than anyone else on the team, Kovy and Parise included. He could be a guy who specializes with the PP and can put up 20-25 goals and 40-50 points for another couple years.

    24/7 Cap Pens

I really liked it, but I just can't help but think how much of a ++++ Crosby is with the world's worst mustache on him. It makes me want to strangle him lol.
  12. I was actually going to say that putting an offer sheet out for Byufglien would be even more surprising than trading for Kovy. You're reading my mind, but I still feel like Lou putting an offer sheet out for him is a 1 in a million shot.
  13. There's no way we're getting rid of Tallinder after we just signed him to a multi year deal. Also, Lou is opposed to offer sheets IIRC, so I would baffled if he changed his mind on it just for Byfuglien. IMO Arnott is not worth resigning unless it is for less than 2.5mil. 2-2.2mil sounds ok for a guy that should be slotting into a 3rd line role because at his age, he's not going to be able to put up top 6 points for much longer. We really do need a top centerman to play with Kovy. Zajac has always been a #2 Center in my eyes, but playing with Parise, he really clicks and that's a good thing that we can push him further than where he could go on his own, but we really need a center to play on the top line with Kovy. Not that we have a top line when Parise gets back, it's more like line 1A and line 1B. So 2011 offseason wishlist is top center for kovy and dman who can put up points and run the PP. Can we coerce Niedermayer to come out of retirement for one more year and play for 2mil? That's my fantasy.
  14. No, cap hits are prorated, not the actual salaries lol. The players wouldn't be happy if they got their pay cut for being injured and missing games. The salary is prorated by # of days played over the total # of days in the season, which I think is 185. So basically it's # of days active on the roster divided by 185 and then multiplied by the cap hit and you have the prorated amount. His hit might be somewhere around 1.3-6mil, I'm not sure. It depends on when he comes back and I'm not positive on how many days he was playing before he got hurt, but he's basically going to end up playing around 35 games or so is my guess. He's really not that bad of a pick up for a prorated 2.5mil. It's only like 1.6mil and that's worth it, even if you only use him for a big point shot on the PP. If I was another team's GM, I'd think about picking him up at that price, but that's just my opinion.
  15. @Hurricane-Parise swon't have to sit, when he comes back, his cap hit will be prorated to something around 1.2-3mil. You have to keep that in mind, we'll fit him in when he gets back. If we fit him in before he was injured, who is that we added that is taking up the cap space he had been? Also, it is quite possible that Salvador may not return at all this season, especially if we're doing so badly. No need to risk further injury for a team going nowhere when we're talking about concussions/brain injury. Then again, this may just end his career, he's no spring chicken.
  16. There's no way that Lou decided to do this on a whim just to test the waters. He made a deal with some team that they would claim him on re-entry waivers. There's no other reason why he would decide to do this now, unless there's someone coming back that wouldn't have fit under the cap while he was here, but we won't really save any space unless he's claimed. I'm 100% sure that Lou made a deal with another team to do this now and they will claim Rolston on re-entry waivers for half of his prorated salary, which at this point would only be 1.61mil if I did my math correct. His prorated salary rounded out to 3.22mil, so half of that is 1.61mil. If my math is wrong or my understanding of waivers/re-entry waivers, please correct me. Yeah, that is a bit much, but it was best to get rid of Peters asap. I have no idea why we signed that retard, he was the most useless player I've ever seen. Lou bought out Pando out of what must have been pure generosity. I don't know why we didn't just put him in the minors or something. I guess Lou did it because he knew if he didn't buy him out and give him the chance to look for another team, it'd be impossible for him to do so when his contract was done. I remember thinking his contract made no sense when he signed it too though, so it was all one big mistake. $2.5mil was WAY too much for a 4th liner, which I'm sure sounds familiar. *cough* Clarkson *cough*

    Line for $10 tickets

8AM lol. I rarely get there before 12pm and almsot never have had issues getting tickets. Playoffs are usually the only time I get there earlier than 12pm or maybe if I bring someone with me to a big game and I have to make sure 100% that I get tickets or if I need a lot of seats together or something.
  18. While the spin at the beginning was unnecessary and kinda gay, but if that really caused Ellis to not make the save....then he sucks.
  19. It's always been the norm for us to be at the bottom of the league in PP for, IIRC. You're right. I always insist to my friends that they are still mad about the donut incident lol.
  20. This is fvcking ridiculous. The officiating in this game has been horrendous. This game has just been robbed from us with that call. fvcking bullsh!t.
  21. I don't understand the amount of attachment everyone here has for Zubrus. I mean he's great along the boards and protecting the puck, but beyond that, he can't finish to save his life. I think he's at best an overpaid 3rd liner. He'd be great to play in an energy line role for $2mil instead of $3.4mil. If we can get anything in return for him, ship him out as fast as you can. Langs should go if anything worthwhile is offered for him. I say this not because I doubt his ability to captain this team, but rather just because he's on the last year of his contract and he's at the end of his career. He's not going to be worth much after this season, so I think the best option is to trade him at the deadline to a team looking for a veteran who's been all the way before. Arnott needs to stay because we really don't have a lot going on at the center position, unless Josefson comes back and starts tearing it up or someone makes an offer we can't refuse. Parise, Zajac and anybody we brought in this offseason should not be traded. I beleive that Tallinder is a solid mid pairing defenseman, but is being hurt by being given minutes that are above his head exactly the the same way Mottau was last year. I think if we can find another top 4 dman to pair with Volchenkov, then Tallinder will settle into a 3-4 role quite nicely. Also, Elias is a keeper despite being overpaid. He's a true leader on this team and he sees the ice in a way few players can. He's not been great this year, but no one has, so I think we should keep him for his PP abilities and the fact that he can help out rookies on this team by playing on a line with them next year. Greene is a mystery to me. Last year he was great, this year, not so much. Next year could go either way for him. So if somebody wants him, trade him because he's replaceable, but if not, try to sign him for around 1.5mil this offseason. I feel like he'd be a great #5 dman and can also fit in on the point for a 2nd PP unit. If he plays better next season, he could even be promoted to the 2nd defensive pairing, but I really think he will fit best on the bottom pairing. White should be kept unless someone offers up another defenseman that can play top 4 minutes and is younger than White. White has been solid this year and his NTC makes him hard to move anyways, but his salary is fitting for his play, so he's not somebody that needs to go, since we are lacking in top 4 dmen as it is. Rolston is going to be next to impossible to trade with his contract, but if by some miracle some team wants him, I think we all know what would happen if that situation happened to occur.

I don't think Brodeur would ever ask to be traded to another team no matter what the situation is like here. He's done so much in order to stay with the Devils through his whole career and I would just be baffled to see him ditch us to play one or two seasons somewhere else to end his career. It just wouldn't make sense. I would NEVER trade Brodeur even if a team offered up their next 10 1st Rd draft picks. I don't care if it would run this team into the ground for a decade. Brodeur deserves to retire a Devil no matter what. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is a FREEDOM HATIN' COMMIE BASTARD!!
  23. I'm guaranteeing that Parise will resign with the Devils long term. I'm envisioning a 10 year deal for a around $55-65 million. Put me on the books for it, so that way if I'm right, I can rub it in everyone's face and if I'm wrong, the opposite can happen lol.
  24. While trading Clarkson wouldn't severely damage this team in any way, who else do we have that has his energy and will fight when a fight needs to happen? Salvador used to do it occasionally, but he's not around, PL3 sucks, Pelley does, but he isn't very big, Mair hasn't looked terribly competent in his couple fights, so who will fill his shoes if he goes? I don't see him leaving since we don't have a replacement for him and we JUST signed him to a new deal this year. It just would look funny if we sign a player to a deal and then trade him the same year. I don't think Lou would do something like that. Doesn't seem like him. P.S. We're not going to trade for Kaberle, so everyone can seriously stop thinking we'd make that trade. Just think about how little sense it would make to do that. Why would we trade anything for a rental D-man when we're in the position we're in right now? What sense does that make? At this point, making the playoffs get closer to being impossible with each passing day, so why would we give up even a crappy AHL scrub in order to gain a D-man that would do nothing but maybe get us a not a as high 1st Rd pick and that we'd possibly lose when he turns FA? It just doesn't mak sense. The only way we make a trade for a "PMD" is if he's got multiple years left on his contract and is reasonably priced.

Anyone saying trade Marty is a disgrace to this team and should seriously get the fvck out and go root for the Rangers. Marty has sacrificed much to stay a Devil and he's arguable the greatest goalie to ever play the game. None of our 3 cups would have happened without him and to see people disrespect him by saying we should trade him, especially for the scrubs people are saying we could get back for him, is insanity and a disgusting display on disrespect. I don't care if this team is in the basement for 5 years because of it, Marty needs to retire a Devil, he's put way too much into this organization and he deserves to have that. So honestly, if anyone here really thinks we should trade away the greatest goalie of all time...you're an idiot and go fvck yourself.
