thats why the nyr will still win this series. their defense is a tremendous unit thats underrated. Today both goals had defenseman assists. They won a game 7 by defenseman scoring goals. They not only block shots, clear lanes and dont make many mistakes they add to the offense. the rangers attack starts from the defense. I said that the biggest problem with the devils is they do not get enough offense or puck movement from the back end. it puts a ton of pressure on the forwards. i also think this contributes to some of the bipolar play. Imagine if the devils forwards actually had help back there?

stardew is certainly one who is to her own thats for sure but i digress. at any rate if some of you think its bad with crap now well back then i could argue it was worse when the building was at a minimum more then half nyr phi and nyi fans. it sure was fun sitting with fans of the rangers flyers and islanders in the early days and they let you know how bad the devils were too. if you want to call that fun feel free. every year those games against those 3 teams were like the playoffs being the playoffs was a word that you never thought youd use in the same sentence with devils. it was fun to be part of something new and from the ground up but it was also alot of time energy and taking crap. i do think alot of todays fans forget that the older fans were the ones who built the fanbase with their money time and effort without a stanley cup to bring them aboard.

whatever you people do dont let nyr fans off the hook by comparing them to flyers fans, though. the flyers fans are embracing this stupid toughness act led on by the media, team and myth. theyre all pussies by themselves they only are tough in groups which pretty much sums up philadelphia fans in a nutshell (and even ny fans). dont get me wrong youll encounter nyr fans of the same type as this series but it doesnt seem like its every other one like the flyers. ranger fans have it in them though trust me. itll come out at the right time and it always does.

you look at all 4 goals and bryz was terrible on all 4. parise's goal he wasnt even looking where parise stuffed it. bryz just has no movement or no body action hes just playing puck hit me please.

strawman much? were not talking about the bruins or the canucks here were talking about the rangers. a game 7 is a coin flip but im going to go with the home team more often then not. theyve never lost a game 7 at home in their history and that wont change this year. teams play the regular season for position to have the chance to play a game 7 at home. not one team or player would not want to even if its a 50/50 prospect. im also a believer in the "last change" advantage at home too depending on the team and coach. some people dismiss it but to the right team its an advantage. they got it and they took advantage and they moved on. sometimes it isnt how many you get and score on its when you get them and do especially when you win. thats because i think it was the rockies1976 member who said it somewhere that you dont see the game as a fan only from a stat viewpoint. there are teams you just get a feeling about that stats cant predict.

i wouldnt bet real $ on the rangers losing a game 7 at home or the capitals winning a best of 3 (going in 2-2) with 2 games at msg. just not happening. add onto that the rangers havent shown signs of collapsing that badly all year. the Rangers had five power-play goals in the ottawa series and 13 man advantage goals in their last 12 games including the regular season up to the game 7 vs ottawa. their pp saved their season in game 6 of that series. they got a lucky pp goal last night but its may you take it. they had a pp goal in game 2, as well. i agree they can be exploited but by whom? its just that feeling that its their year no matter what and theyll be the type of team that goes 11 losses and still wins the cup. ugly which is their specialty.

the sign of a good team is finding a way to win in the playoffs it doesnt matter of you win ugly or pretty. over 16 wins it's going to take ugly games and series. sure the senators gave them all they could handle and were a few calls away from eliminating them. the capitals are giving them all they can handle now but they wont win the series. the capitals wont win the next 3 out of 4 against a team that hasnt shown its capable of such a collapse. the rangers are surviving. theyve done so all year blocking shots, hard forechecking, relying on big pads and the d to jump in the play. theyve also avoided major injuries to key players for long stretches. dubinsky being hurt is actually helping them and losing boyle for a few and hagelin to suspension was an opening for Krieder. only a skilled offensive team can exploit the rangers. the capitals arent that anymore and they arent reverting back, the penguins are gone and the flyers dont have the goaltending. the kings? its how you view them. you can view them as an 8th place team and a reason for being so or you can view them as a dangerous 8th place team with alot of skill and size that can grit and grind too. you look at that team on paper and they should go deep. look the rangers have had it go their way all year. why would anyone think its ending anytime soon?

usually i dont take alot of stock in your rivals winning and it effecting you. Im a jets fan and the giants success hurts but it doesnt kill the jets. they both have huge loyal followings and enough split presence in the media where one isnt suffering by the others success. its just bragging rights. same with the yankees/mets. the yankees will always be more successful as a franchise due to them being the yankees but if either wins a world series it doesnt kill the other one. look a tthe 80's and 90's/2000's. the rangers winning will be terrible for the devils especially the devils facing a summer of uncertainty. the devils are not a ny based team and they do not have a large enough following and media presence like a ny team. you think the rock is bad now? you think the media and msg network treats the devils like stepchildren now? you thinkt he ny bandwagon following isnt coming? try all this next season with the rangers as champions. its going to be terrible as devils fans. there wont be post-1994 success upcoming as a follow up act, either. imagine being a rangers fan from 1998-2004 and seeing the devils win 2 cups and play for a 3rd. only the rangers could survive that. ive always said that if the devils had the same 1998-2004 run the rangers had the devils would be playing in another city. its absolutely the truth that what the rangers do effects the devils more then vice versa. as devils fans the devils owe us nothing. they were a near dynasty in an era before the lockout. It will be nearly impossible to have a dynasty or similar devils run in this era. the problem is it only takes one rangers cup and the devils success becomes even more ancient history then it already is.

While i agree with some of this, the rangers owned the flyers this year and i wouldnt trust the devils against them or more importantly lundqvist. if the rangers hadnt already fallen apart heading into 2006, the devils would still be playoff series winless vs them. that series was a joke it wasnt even competitive. something happens to the devils vs the rangers come spring and its the one black mark on the success of the franchise. theyve been on a charmed run for a long long time. the only way it runs out is if they run out of gas. im simply amazed they havent hit the wall. washington isnt going away and they know they can play with them so hopefully they continue to do damage to each toher physically. i just think its their year and its going to hurt to watch.

well at least thats more wear and tear on their top paring. im not counting washington out of the series entirely losing this game and i hope they can play more taxing minutes on their d. sooner or later the rangers d are going to have to feel it from the way they play i hope.

id be more confident if the penguins were waiting around for them. i just dont think the flyers or the devils can knock them off. theyre getting all they can handle with 7th and 8th but 5th and 4th are good draws too. consider they owned the flyers all year and you just cant be confident with the devils and lundqvist.

hes also got a golden chance to be a hero and step up and win his team a series. this is a make or break spring for him i think if he wants to take his palce back among the best in the world.

the rangers go as big pads goes. he's been on since they came back from Europe in october. if they had to rely on biron for any stretch of time theyd be down in the bottom 4. how many games has this team really been out of all year? i find it amazing that they can still play at the level they do and not slowed down. youd think the wall is coming up for them to hit and they just keep going. thats why i beleive theyll win the cup. they look beatable and can be exploited at times but they just keep going and find ways to win.

watch them settle into a 4 man back zone and collapse around big pads.
