  1. cmon guys. You HAVE to root for the devils for at least the next two games. Who gives a crap how ridiculous it is, I want a stanley cup THIS year and while there is still a chance for that to happen I'm hoping for it. If we lose the next two games, fine...but if we have a chance to be 4 points out of a playoff spot with 20 games to go thats way better than where I thought we would be at the start of the season.
  2. I come from work with my briefcase/backpack/laptop bag frequently and get into the arena with no problem.
  3. My point is that its all just lip service. It's a foregone conclusion that these are our coaches until the season is over. Therefore... Lou is going to say its working "exceptionally" to the media. There will never be anything from his mouth that says there is any kind of imperfect coordination or grumbling. He'll just go out and do whatever he thinks is best, whether that means keeping one of these coaches or not. Whats going on behind closed doors will never make it out to the media. This isn't an indication one way or the other what will actually happen.
  4. Are you guys serious? When have you ever heard Lou say a bad word or phrase about anyone, regardless of the circumstances? He would never in a million years publically shame, embarrass, call out, or otherwise criticize anyone who is working for him. He is the consummate professional. These comments are meaningless. He will bring in whoever he thinks is the best person for the job, whether that decision is right or wrong is a different story. Meanwhile, all of these quotes are entirely meaningless.
  5. After tonight's win I'll be buying up tickets for Game 1 and 2 of the playoffs...those are home games FYI.
  6. Elias has been a Corsi beast for years despite the circumstances, constantly driving play forward. I thought perhaps this year even he couldn't overcome the garbage around him...but he proves me wrong again.
  7. My first date with my now fiance was to Marty's #552 game. And during that game as soon as Elias stepped on the ice for that fateful play, she said he was going to break the record on that shift even though it was a PK...and sure enough.
  8. I like to scream Hey! You MUST suck (if we scored on you)
  9. my favorite is Chelios the Thrasher. Does anyone feel his legacy is tainted by that?
  10. At first I thought a young guns team and a rest of the world team was ridiculous, but a few seconds later I changed my mind. Teams like Latvia and the like have absolutely no chance of winning. Next, aside from the most hardcore of hockey fans, who is going to want to watch games like Switzerland vs. Slovenia on a regular basis? Absolutely no one. But...once you start loading up the 'rest of the world' team now suddenly Kopitar has some world class linemates and can have a legitimate chance to win some games playing real hockey. You can probably put together a roster from the rest of the world that can compete with the U.S. on a regular basis and might even be better than the Czechs. Now that's fun. Basically, the quality of the rosters for every game would be better than between any two NHL teams. Whether or not you think its stupid to do this, you at least have to concede that the games would be far more interesting for casual fans. Also, as someone with a lot of exposure to people from these 'rest of the world' countries, they would absolutely get behind this team. As for the young guns, why the hell not. Seeing a team of U23 stars, whatever the protocol, is way better than watching Switzerland trap for 60 minutes hoping they can somehow get a 1-0 upset win. If the goal of this tournament is to be traditional and nationalistic, this is a dumb idea. If the point is to put forward the most fun and best quality hockey, this idea is on point.
  11. first one was unstoppable second one was a really tough shot that was saveable but understandable
  12. If it doesn't bring a smile to your face to hear "save Brodeur!!" then you are a heartless bastard
  13. ...from my living room window. Just moved to Newark since my girlfriend goes to Dental school in the city. Hard to love Newark so I consider the view my silver lining. That and I can finally full-on pregame at home.
  14. This is not what you are looking for but here are the Bruins in halloween costumes. Dougie Hamilton as the girl from Frozen kills me.
  15. I don't think there is literally anything we can offer that would make the sharks pass on Hertl. We could offer our next 10 first round picks and entire NHL/AHL roster and they wouldn't accept.
  16. What's up with mamashev going to Albany. I thought he was on a tryout
  17. Over/Under on Komisarek getting any more preseason games after today: Current line: 0.5
  18. Markstrom put on waivers today. Personally, I would rather have him than Kinkaid or Clemmenson. As far as Clemmer goes, I'm not sure if he is even above average at the AHL level. With Kinkaid, I think at very best we're looking at a career backup but even that is unlikely. I'd rather drop these two and take a chance with Markstrom as the backup goalie. Markstrom has put up excellent numbers at the AHL level, but garbage at the NHL level. Playing in Florida probably had a lot to do with that. Also interesting is that Vancouver managed to turn Luongo and Schneider into Bo Harvat and Shawn Matias. Not the best return...
  19. Something to be excited about on every line. First chance to get see Cam on the top line. Second line has Boucher and Gomez (blech) on it. Third line consists entirely of players we have wanted to see play better since they got here, and the fourth line has an unsigned player. Forwards: Mike Cammalleri-Travis Zajac-Jaromir Jagr; Reid Boucher-Scott Gomez-Mike Sislo; Tuomo Ruutu-Jacob Josefson-Damien Brunner; Ryan Carter-Stephen Gionta-Steve Bernier.
  20. Triumph, can you expand a bit on what you mean when you say you prefer he is not put in a position to generate offense for good offensive wingers? Do you mean that the data shows (or in your opinion) he does not do well at distributing the puck?
  21. Fedentenko took the penalty that gave us the beautiful kovalchuk powerplay goal against the rangers in game 6. i have no idea why i remember that
