  1. Marty wasn't signed until the fall, I believe Stevens was too. So with the arbitration in July, then the time frame would be correct. Neither Marty nor Stevens signed until the season had already started. Marty signed first and then Stevens. This is the same pecking order that was established the last time both Marty & Stevens signed contracts, Marty went first & then Stevens signed a few months later. This is actually what I suspected all along. Lou was following his 'order of importance' (whether you agree with it or not) and wasn't going to sign H
  2. Did he say he wouldn't have dealt Sykora at all if Holik had signed? Or that he wouldn't have made that particular deal?
  3. Well this is a pain in the butt. I have him as a wing on my fantasy team.
  4. That reminds me of when Chambers was negotiating with Lou as a UFA and Dallas offered what wwas big $$$ at the time. Lou told Chambers to take the money before Dallas pulled it off the table.

    Nhl 2nite Returns

1 hour special Tuesday night (well, for those of us on the East coast, Wed. morning) 12:30am eastern.
  6. I never thought he lost sleep over Slodelein leaving. I just remember how upset he was over mis-judging the depth of Quint's personal issues. He really felt he missed the boat with that one, that's all.
  7. OK, then I guess it was Claude for Thomas he regrets.
  8. OK, now I'm trying to think which player he shipped out signed a $6 million-per-year contract. Gilmour signed for that much but he was a FA, not shipped out. Arnott got something in the range of over $6 million total for 2 years, not per year. Claude probably signed for about 6 million over a few years with the Avs the first time. I'm stumped. Who am I forgetting?
  9. Maybe Lou thought it was a personal failure (i.e., he thought he had done his homework & he turned out to be wrong).
  10. Yes, but I think Lou thought he was getting something back. I remember when he suspended Quint he said he thought he had done due diligence on his background & that his problems were resolved, it sounded like he felt he had made a mistake. Maybe he wasn't looking at it as addition by subtraction.
  11. I wonder if Quint is the mistake he's referring to. I remember he didn't even drink after the Devs won the 2000 Cup. Thanks for the info.

    Slightly Bizzare

It's Ricci vs. Naslund. Naslund, OK. But why send Ricci - possibly the ugliest man on earth - out there? Even though he did promise to put his teeth in and 'style' his hair.

    Holik Injured?

I don't know how A$$holik has performed on your penalty kill, but I noticed on Ranger$ boards they have been griping about how atrocious the PK is so who's the one messing up? Only time will tell if he IS a good PKer or not. MD, I don't know that Holik is 'messing up' on the PK for the Rangers. The PK is a team effort, the units have to execute a system for it to be effective. That means they have to HAVE a system. So far, the Rangers still haven't really gotten a defensive system down and it doesn't appear that they've really improved the PK performance

    Holik Injured?

looks like the Rangers are going to make Holik earn his $$$, though...he wasn't on the PK for the Devs. Looks like he'll play in all 3 situations.

Possibly, but I have a suggestion. Just ignore him completely if he annoys you. The more you make it obvious he's annoying you, the more he'll do it. If that's what he's looking to accomplish.

Devs have had 12 shots in the 3rd, Isles only 1. Looks like they remembered too late it was time to try.

unlike the last Devs-Isles match, this doesn't look like a penalty-fest. Other than the one fight, the Isles have 5 minors, the Devs have 3.

Niewy scores (Elias gets the assist). 5:13 into the 3rd. so now they are -1 and -2, respectively.

Tivo & Elias are each a -3 tonight. Dano, Langenbrunner & Niewy are -2. Not the best of nights for the top line...and this happened at home, where you'd think Burns could get the match-ups he wants.

    Arnott Article

^7^, I don't deny that things were kind of confused last year and that there were a few strange moves. But for Arnott to completely miss his role in the mess says something about him. I hope he does well in the future, but I think he still has quite a bit of growing up to do.

    Arnott Article

He was never going to be "great" points-wise, but, when he was playing to his full capabilities he was the right center for Elias & Sykora. He went down low, into the corners, and banged the puck loose and created room for those two to work. It's just a shame that in his last year with the Devs, he only seemed to want to play that way against the Rangers, Flyers and Leafs. If he'd shown up for a few games against Atlanta and Tampa he'd still be a Devil. I don't doubt that he was hurt by the trade because I really think he enjoyed it here, for all the reasons they listed. Especially the

    Arnott Article

I'm glad he's over the trade and I wish him the best, but I find it interesting that he doesn't believe he bears any responsibility for the fact that he was traded. http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/hockey/4202732.htm Change of heart Finally burying his anger over the trade to Dallas, Arnott is now totally on board By Mac Engel Star-Telegram Staff Writer IRVING - Hiding behind the smile, happiness and handshakes, Jason Arnott was hurting. No, he was confused. Make that mad. And bitter. He did not want to be traded from the New Jersey Devils to the Dallas Stars. Period. "It didn't make any sens
  24. I know what you mean, I only have one Ranger, but it's a$$Holik. Good thing I don't care if I win or not... Especially since one of my goalies is Eddie the Beagle and no-one is stupid enough to take him off my hands.
