How lucky are the Golden Nuggets?
I had a flashback.

Really seems like a LOT of Ranger fans have soured on Panarin...he's averaged about 31 G and 74 A per 82 GP as a Ranger in the regular season, but now has that dreaded "Doesn't do sh!t in the playoffs" rep. Not that I mind that one bit...
A rep that he has earned. It's bad when you don't score points, but when you're invisible? That's a hard $11M pill to swallow.

I think Hynes style/system would be a pretty good fit for most of the Rangers players except Panarin. Can't see a Panarin-Hynes relationship working too well.

Yea, sometimes you’ve gotta take a chance, I’m not sure that guy is the answer.
I'm not sure he is either.

There's a risk in getting Connor Hellebuyk. There's also a risk in standing pat with what you've got.

I wear daily contacts and they are expensive but convenient. To work on the laptop I wear the contacts and reading glasses. I used to be able to work with just contacts but age won't allow it anymore.

The problem is his age and price…and the fact he becomes a UFA after next season. Hard to think that he won’t get around $10 million AAV from someone…for what will be Age 31 and beyond seasons. If the Devils window was nearing the end I might understand more of a push to get him, but I don’t think they need make a move like this just yet.
Yep, I understand the concern, especially for the length of contract if the Devils end up being the team that trades for him and starts negotiating an extension.

If there's a chance to get Connor Hellebuyck ..... that's the kind of deal we might look back on and say .... thank god we did that. I respect smelly's opinion on this one.
It's not Schmid who makes this a hard decision. It's Vitek. He had a good season, and it seems hardly fair for him to be sent packing. His playoff performance set off alarm bells, however. -
The Bratt question is a tough one. On the one hand he did not play well in the postseason and on the other, the team doesn’t have a tremendous amount of scoring forward depth. I do believe he cost himself some money this spring but he’s still going to get a healthy contract from somebody.

Maybe they can drag it game 6, but history suggests it’s over tomorrow night.
I think they're done. But, yeah, I'll be watching, hoping they're not.

These playoffs have been bizarre. The Devils have either cruised to victory or cruised to defeat.
LGD!
The DVR gods have laughed at me adding 3 hours onto the recording time.

In the post game Ruff said,
"If you look at how we played and what we gave up, I don't think we should point the finger at the goaltender."5 goals on 15 shots. Lol. Anyway, Ruff pulled Akira for less. Just sayin'. Maybe he sees VV as the 1A so he doesn't want to disrespect him. 🤔
I wouldn’t read too much into that comment. Lindy was just saying that the skaters were terrible and that the game was unwinnable with their performance. Someone asked him a question about when he pulled Vitek (suggesting it was about two goals too late) and Lindy pretty much said it didn’t matter. Anyway, I think we would all be shocked to see Vitek. Benching him is a layup.

That was the best outcome for the league
I thought having that kind of talent in Montreal would have been good, too.

I like Coleman a lot but not at $4.9 million AAV for the next four seasons...and he's already 31 years old.
We've already got Palat in that role at that price.

Anyone think maybe the Devils go back to Schmid on Tuesday? I'm not sure what to think at this point but I trust Schmid more despite what happened in games 1 and 2. Should be interesting.
-
As far as a goalie change, I don’t expect one. I think Schmid will be back. I can see Luke Hughes playing however.

This game is on Lindy. Sorry. You cant step onto the ice in Game 2 having been shellacked in game 1 and draw a clunker.
I don’t think this one is on Lindy, not 100% of it anyway.

I love the 80s and I love the Devils, but I don’t love 80s Devils hockey. That’s what that looked like tonight. Haven’t seen anything like that all season.

Lafreniere was supposed to be a lot better, but I honestly blame the Rangers and their team construction that has hampered his development.
I tend to agree with you. Is it a coincidence that Kakko AND Lafreniere have been underwhelming? I'm suspicious.

We love to give up shorthanded goals to this team. Would like to see that trend end.

These playoffs feel like 2006 all over again: beating the Rangers in the 1st, Hurricanes coming up in round 2 and even Brind'Amour is there. Hopefully the result is different this year.
My recommendation is don't have a Game 2 like Devils-Carolina in 2006. Devastating. That's the NHL playoffs. Disaster always looms.
