This Kane move does not worry me much. Famous last words, right? But they wouldn't be the Rangers if they didn't acquire washed-up stars. They've been doing it since before some of us "old-timers" were born. The list is long and Jacques Plante is on it (although he did pretty well after leaving the Rangers). My favorite is Ken Hodge for Rick Middleton, one of the worst trades ever.

He’s tradable, but the most important thing for Holtz is to capitalize on the next chance he gets on the NHL level. Injuries happen, so he may get one. Plus, he may be the kind of player who needs a couple years in the minors before he’s ready.

I would be shocked to see Miles Wood in a Devil jersey next season. He's not far from being a healthy scratch now.

Nothing is certain, but they seem to be even better than before. Hathaway is great to stick on your fourth line in the playoffs and Orlov is a good defenseman, like you said. If Washington is waving the white flag, does Fitz need to check on Tom Wilson's availability?

You're right about who's a better player, but do we want to trade a 20-goal scorer -- a man in our top 6 forwards-- to do it? I wouldn't, and I do understand how important getting Meier is. We have enough assets to find another way and still beat Carolina's offer.

Good two-way players are valuable and he's already good. And he's 21 so there could be a lot of growth. Plus, the idea is to get better, and trading Mercer for Timo Meier doesn't really achieve that in a significant way.

A couple names I've mentioned in previous posts are Ivan Barbashev and James Van Riemsdyk. The latter could help the Devils' power play and Barbashev could strengthen the bottom six.
