It’s great that Mercer has been able to make that transition…as long as Nico and Jack are healthy and producing, I’d rather he get Top 6 time as a winger than as a 3C (potentially with more mehish wingers).  Not like every center can shift to LW or RW.

You're right, it's not a move every player can make. Claude Giroux made the change a few years ago. Trevor Linden played wing and center. Both those players are/were good two-way players, so maybe it's a move that's easier for strong defensive players.

Someone tell me one singular play that Nico made tonight that makes him an even remotely useful hockey player? He’s the “shutdown center” who was on the ice for FOUR goals against.

The guy is a fvcking loser and his stink will wear on the franchise if he’s not cut or traded.

Let's see what his shot assist chart says.

It just feels strange, that the Cincinnati Bengals (and good for them, nothing against them) have reached the Super Bowl before I even got a chance to see the Jets get to one. Even the Bengals get their day in the sun before us.

I can see them putting a scare into LA, but I think the Rams take this 27-16

Not only did Cincinnati put a scare into the Rams, they had this game in their hands, and didn't execute at key times. The officiating hurt Cincinnati on the final LA drive (weak defensive holding call, bad personal foul call on what was a good hit). But the Bengals did get that break on a TD that should have been offensive pass interference to start the second half.

Well, he’s been fired twice now and couldn’t win with McDavid and Draisaitl. So he isn’t exactly appealing.

He hasn't won a championship but the regular season record is good. He did a good job with the Coyotes. He's perfect for a team with modest expectations. :D

    One was warranted.

It sure was. As for Marchand's temper, has he tried goosfraba? He needs to do something. I read somewhere that Jarry trash-talked him but that it wasn't anything too extraordinary.

Drafting McDavid or Crosby or whomever first overall was a guarantee, but those type of players don’t come along too often.

They don't. As many have pointed out, the Oilers haven't been able to capitalize on it with a deep playoff run. They have a different frustration than we do.

You have the youngest roster in the entire league that is hungry and motivated.  They clearly lack direction and instruction.

Teams need good veterans. We don't have enough of them, not by a long shot. One of our veterans was a playoff scratch for Montreal last season. Another one has been making the same mistakes on defense for many years now. And then there's PK Subban, who is extraordinarily ordinary. We don't get good play from veterans never mind the leadership that's sorely needed from vets.

Brady now officially retired, as everyone knows.

Basically went out of his way to thank everyone but the Patriots...upon Kraft posting a tribute, Brady then posted a very brief thank you to the Pats and the fanbase.

Hard to think he didn't do that intentionally.  We may never know the whole story, and I don't need to...the real story was told during his many seasons and championships as a Patriot...if not for him, the Pats aren't the Pats, and a guy like Josh McDaniels doesn't get a second chance to fail as a head coach (that Raiders gig will not go well).  But seems like for all of the times Brady's taken the high road and had nothing but good things to say about the Patriots and BB and others, there's not much love lost.  Guess we'll see if he has anything more to add in the future.

And, Brady took less money for his Patriot contracts in the 2010s, which gave the team cap flexibility. Not every star QB does that.

Yeah he’ll never be a points horse, but considering that he cost nothing to re-acquire, he’s done a pretty good job.  Fine fourth-liner who’s even helped on the PP some.

Two power play goals is nothing to sneeze at on this squad!
