  1. Unless we got our 2nd back from Nsh, the only offers we could tender are sub 6.3m per year (costs 1st and 3rd) or above 10.5m (4x1sts). The former helps the Rangers and latter hurts us too much.

    Hughes or Kakko

Fischler (also Jewish) is just excited that a Jewish player is ranked so high. For many Jews, being Jewish is a culture thing as much if not more so then a religious one. I don't think he was trying to make a salient point on Hughes personal beliefs, Stan is just proud.

    Habs @ NJD

I know it's inconsequential, but anyone know why that last faceoff wasnt in the Canadiens zone?
  4. I'm not sure, Idk what exactly was said / offered by either party. So for me it was just a little disappointing as a fan and I'll probably never get to know which side contributed more to Marty leaving. To tie it back to Elias, it's all the more special that he finished his career with the Devils. I find it unique and noteworthy and something I wish I could say for #30.
  5. Context is everything. Patty was told thank you for your time, go get yourself a contract from someone else. The Rangers were the last man standing after the field dwindled down and might have been it until Elias gave Lou one last shot. They are very different scenarios. Idk if I'm considered one of those people who "bagged on" Marty for those 8 games, but it did upset me a little. It still does. It would have upset me as much if Elias did the same thing. I'm extremely happy he did not and that he decided finished his career as a Devil. For me, to go the distance with one team makes it a little more special.
  6. There are probably a lot of upset Canadians right now with that loss to Germany. Hopefully the NHL and the Olympics find a compromise. Maybe move hockey to the summer Olympics?
  7. Travis should get an assist, his loose stick was instrumental twice on that play
  8. Would have preferred no change, but I don't hate it. All things considered it could have been a lot worse.
  9. -I'd like to see point distribution go to a zero sum game. My preference is to remove shootouts and go with Win / Tie / Loss = 2 / 1 / 0, I never found ties to be boring but I know I'm in the minority on that. short of that, Reg. Win / OT Win / OT Loss / Loss = 3 / 2 / 1 / 0 -Remove the trapezoid -I'd like to see the "puck over glass" penalty modified to either go back to ref's discretion or be challenge-able. -I don't really have a probably with challenging offside or goalie interference right now, but if it becomes abused a little too much maybe the punishment for getting a call wrong is a "delay of game" penalty instead of losing a timeout On the positive side, after thinking I would hate the hybrid icing I think it works great.
  10. I think that clearing attempt hit a Coyotes stick anyway, so it shouldn't have been icing. They would have had about 10 seconds to turn it around into something, possible but we likely win anyway. If I was a 'yotes fan, I would be more upset with the phantom penalty.
  11. Technically still on the island. They could move to Staten Island a few years later and really round out the boroughs.
  12. It's an NHL sanctioned tournament, but I don't think there is any requirement that you have an NHL contract to be on a team. Half the European rosters have non NHL'ers. If for some reason Kyle wanted to play in the KHL professionally he would still be eligible to play for team USA, no?
  13. Not really, injuries are part of the game and the odds are pretty remote at that. He could just as easily get injured in camp. And the Olympic tournaments produce some of the best hockey I've seen in my life, I hope it stays forever.
  14. Because of the team N. America thing? I agree it's doofy but it's not like there is a guaranteed chance this match up will even happen. I don't think it takes anything from the players who are representing whole countries.
  15. These guys aren't our property, representing your country is a great honor.
  16. Feels "soccer-ish". I like it.
  17. It's just been a weird / saddening half dozen years to be a Devils fan (record aside)...doc, chico, marty, lou, tg... don't go patty! stay forever.
  18. Ha! I'm from "upstate" New York but they live in Staten Island, theory checks out! I don't think I ever asked my uncle why he is a Devils fan (my cousin has since switched allegiances to the Rangers), I suspect it had something to do with the Meadow Lands being closer than MSG?
  19. As a Devils fan born and raised in NY this is my story. My Uncle and cousin were Devils fans, they were the first team I was introduced too so I followed suit. I always find the "you owe your state's team your allegiance" posts a little disappointing, I think you guys forget you have some "state traitors" rooting for this team too
  20. I don't think it's 4 unique players, just 4+ total incidents for the head coach fine(s) to start kicking in. The chart is a little vague though. Rule 64 – Diving / Embellishment https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-announces-rules-changes-for-2014-15-season/c-730165 Gulitti said "A fourth embellishment fine for a Devils' player would result in an automatic fine for Hynes, as well." Chere wrote earlier (after Farnhams) "* For head coach, each fine issued to a player on his club counts toward total." So based on that, next "fine" which is either another incident from the 3 players listed above, or a new guy to be hit twice?
  21. I care a little. Both times we might have had a powerplay if he didn't try to sell it. After last night he's probably on a "watch list", if he doesn't shape up he will never get the benefit of the doubt when it counts. This kid has a lot of potential, no reason to carry on bad habits if we can straighten it out now.
  22. That was a fun game to be at. I'll just leave this here for prosperity https://www.nhl.com/video/schneiders-amazing-stick-save/t-278661590/c-41752303
  23. I'm going to go a different direction, I am happy we have challenges for plays like that. I think refs will be more likely to call a questionable goal a "goal" and then let the challenge overturn it. Imagine if the refs were forced to conference about that play (given Reimer trying to sell the interference) Sure 9/10 times they get it right, but now with the review option I think it's closer to 99/100.
