  1. Is it 2019 year today? It would be great...
  2. Yes. He is young enough, scored enough before, play pk, and he is rfa. I think Fitz will trade him for good price or will save the depth. _____ Walsh wasn`t really Devil from the beggining. I don`t think he is more than 7th nhl D(and it`s a good for him in the end). Small PP qb with questionable decision making and average\below average skating. Thanks, but no. In the "Ty Smith" can.
  3. late first\early to mid second. Fitz will not trade Sharangovich for third or later pick with probability 90%.

    Draft 2023

7 years ago in this day.
  5. Fourth line should play minute eating role without missing goals to help your leading players rest. Than multi millioners should be better on the ice than opponents. Lazar is playing defensive role and staying away from the box, unlike Wood did. Fitz said that Devils have plans on Foote. I believe he is in the plan as a part of fourth line. He isn’t fast but he has hands and shot. And I think Devils should trade Clarke, he isn’t better than Holtz as two way and a s top six player he will never has an opportunity here. He is useless as bottom six player.

    Draft 2023

I like what Dallas did. They are some kind of Western big team, but still got Stankoven, Bourque, Johnstonn and Bichsel from the draft. It should help them to make another step. And they traded away first round pick for Lundqvist. I`m trully not so high on this step but I understand it. Hope Fitz will continue to make same step with lower price like he did before.

    Draft 2023

No, they are not and should stay away from trading first round picks, only if its for good player of good age and skill, like they did with Mayer. ------- Colorado won their cup only in 5th year, Toronto didn't. And they traded a lot of their first round picks. And now they have nothing in the depth. Devils hit second round. Only once. We don't know how good our defense will be without Graves and Sevs. And more importantly, young talents give us some cheap depth and may be some surprising talent. I'm not telling they should never trade first round pick, especially if they think they are ready and one special player will give more fire power. But if its a strategy for every year, its a good way to short the window. And our window is big. Its huge. Jack is only 21-22. Luke and Nemec are younger. Devils have great top 6 material for the next 5-6-7 years, but they should think what they will have after, when Jack will be only 30 and other part of offensive core will start to decline. Bottom line pieces can be signed on the market for cheap. Because a lot of players would want to win the cup or burst their stats in top 6 role with Nico/Jack. So we should trade our firsts picks, if its a real deal, especially for players on the good long term deals, but its much better for Fitz to work how he did - Siegenthaler, Marino, Graves. And you know what? How things like that can happen? Its a scouting. So if someone think that "f@ck draft, we finally out of it" than I believe Fitz don't. And the only way to win is building the team on the talent foundation and coach them after. Creating the best depth. And find some luck. So for the Devils organisation draft will never stop. It did once, when Lou decided that Conte did good enough job. It didn't help to win, it ruined the franchise. So I believe Fitz is smart enough (and like I see he is) to not stop finding talent, working on draft and asking for reasonable trades, not "1st for one year of immediate help". BTW its look like devils are not far away from trading first round pick of this draft

    Draft 2023

Overall I have groups on this draft 1 Bedard, 2 Michkov, 3 Fantilli, 4 Karlsson -pure star potential 5 Leonard 6 Smith 7 Benson 8 Reinbacher -serious first line potential, great instruments 9 Simashev 10 Dvorsky 11 Barlow 12 Yager 13 Willander 14 Moore -great floor,NHL future Wood But Heidt Musty Ritchie Stenberg Gulyayev Sandin-Pellikka Perrealut Cristall Danielson Stenberg Sale Brindley Hrabal Honzek Dragicevic Ziemmer- very talented players with some questions or serious questions in the game. Some should go higher in the draft. 58 pick options We should talk about pure potential mostly on my taste. And there are some rumours Florida interesting in Karpovich as potential pick in the second round. https://eliteprospects.com/player/619368/daniil-karpovich stats https://youtu.be/oA5Gw6z7-IM - highlughts Big mobile defenseman with upside on both sides. Perron is an interesting player as high risk high reward option. He is on the small side and could drop because of it. Skills but lack of physicallity. https://eliteprospects.com/player/648248/jayden-perron https://youtu.be/2RRwpQsFK-8 I don`t think that Stramel will fall so low, but his lack of consistency and lack of production could scare some gms. Anyway he is and mobile two-way center. https://youtu.be/GkjlWKF6U04 https://eliteprospects.com/player/623837/charlie-stramel Suniev is interesting for 2-3 round. He is big and have speed and puckhandling abuility. Need to work more on his skating, again - he isn`t slow. And he has very good hands. Some kind of Nolan Foote. Not as physical, but faster. https://youtu.be/1EdXdKv9sE0 https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/620335/aydar-suniev Sawchyn is flashy player on the both ends. His tools are may be too flashy and focus on himself, question how he will adapt his game on the higher level. https://youtu.be/AUBfa7cAxVY https://eliteprospects.com/player/535611/gracyn-sawchyn Strbak is good defensive defenseman with good puck work. Would be great if he can work on his skating more. As 2 round pick I`m ok with. https://eliteprospects.com/player/595301/maxim-strbak ttps://youtu.be/1EdXdKv9sE0 Kantserov is intriguing player as potential scoring cube. He is undersized 5`9, but his shot is deadly. And he is good in finding open space in the right time. He is good high risk high reward option for the third round. https://eliteprospects.com/player/709028/roman-kantserov #njdevils Edstrom is a good option if available(I don`t think he will). He is a big center with good skating to play physical\interior role. https://eliteprospects.com/player/608308/david-edstrom https://youtu.be/QIeCUiLTtD4 Wahlberg is good big two way forward with good shot. He looked interesting on international level where I saw him. https://youtu.be/vVPTs7Auob0 https://eliteprospects.com/player/643681/anton-wahlberg

    Draft 2023

Less than a week before the draft
  10. Like what Fitz is doing, step after step. 10 seasons of Haula pushed all of his teams (wild, preds, cats, toilets, knights, bruins, Devils) into the play off spot. He is an amulet.
  11. Bratt is the scapegoat for fans. Full team wasn’t ready for play off round against Carolina. No rest didn’t help. Bratt deserved every penny, especially how much money he got for what he bring. I have stone believe in Fitz after that, but anyway I hope he will not spend assets and cap space for 30yo Hellebyuck. Teams are winning SC because of depth, not because of aging goalies. Yeah…
  12. Fitz is genius. If you are not understand why. I’m sorry.
  13. I believe they should be much tougher opponent. If their goalie will figure it out, beware. Im not saying they are play off team from the start, but why not. Good defensive line, a lot of intriguing prospects. Carlsson should be the final piece, like we got Nemec year ago.
  14. I clearly don’t understand what are you talking about. Sorry. Like everybody do. I think there is a big chance that if Fitz will not have a signed deal on the table before draft, he will trade him. Absolutely agree with everything you said. And yeah, I think Bratt easily can ask for 9mil because he is in position to do so, and I believe Fitz deny it and will trade him or will make re offer with much shorter term. He can bring top-15/top-10 pick and very good proven prospect/young player with potential.(Fiala, Debrinkat, Jones cases). If Bratt don’t want to sign the deal, I thinkDet/Buff can be trade partners. Again in theory, but both teams are trying to start to compete now. Buffalo are closer.
  15. "Play off" thing will not count. It`s a fan thing. FIala signed his deal with close to the same play off history. If he would be PPG player in play off, he would ask 9+ mil. You can check Thomas stats too. Again, we should look at what exactly happened in NHL, not on the abstract idealic hyperbole of fans dream. Bratt is 8 mil player, he has all the right to ask 64 mil, if he wants more he can easily sign 1-2 years deal, because he will sign for more on rising market. And wothout Bratt this team will getting worser. He isn`t physical guy, but transitional game still exist, posession game still exist, 5 on 5 game still exist and it is what he is making for this team. He should be surrounded with right players. And even without producing he can make an impact for the team, like Meier did with his physical aspect. He can`t be one man line like Hughes can, but Hughes signed his deal way before he proved something. 8 mil isn`t 11 mil. Bratt is good first line level player. And he knows that. He knows about % of the cap and actual signs. And he played three years for less money than he impacted for this team. And I think Fitz want to go with 8mil. The question what Bratt wants. You will be surprised, but even 8.5-9 mil is what Bratt actually can ask.
  16. I dont like 1-2 years deals, because he will hit the open market or will bring losy compensation. And after 1-2 years cap will go up and he will sign for more money - with us or with different team. Som if he don`t want to sign 4-8 years deal than we should trade him now. When the price on the market is maximum. I don`t know what I think about 3 years deal like Mangipanee signed. Conversation is a great thing, people can find compromises. Too bad that it`s not a popular thing in modern world. I will be happy with 4 years deal. We can give 3 years bridge to Mercer to save cap flexibility and afterBratt deal we will have money and cap space to sign new deal with Nico. He is obviously more important player of this team. I just don`t see how he will accept 6 y 7.75 mil deal, because younger unproven players and older players on the market are getting more. And he played 2 years for nothing and one year for only 5.4 mil. He wants money and he deserved them. Of course this deal is crazy good for Devils. Like I said- I`m just not waiting that. I think he will sign 2-3 years deal with ~8 mil cap hit or 8 years deal.
  17. Say hello to MB3. Two years ago or something like that we did argue about Severson future deal. Fair deal, market level. Thank, Sevs. You were good, we cant save all of our pieces. Now Jackets have great top-4 Werenski-Severson Provorov-Jiricek.
  18. 4 years deal to Bratt should be the best case scenario. I don’t think he is waiting for that. He should want 1-2 years or 8 years deal. If we will sign him for 4 years even for 9 mil, I would be very happy about it. But I’m not waiting for that because, like I did before, Im talking about reality standpoints.
  19. We are talking about 8 mil for one of the best transition player with 73 points level, not about 11 mil for 80 points player. I agree with you about good bottom players, but it doesn’t hurt any ways if you are paying 8 players for players like Bratt. huyoll. Check market prices.
  20. People should slow down their expectations. Stillman has very bad production in d+2. Even if he will be regular nhler, it would be a good outcome. overall fans of hockey can easily be angry on nhl teams and ask a lot of questions. Because 25-29 (not only them) picks are obviously worser than A LOT of second rounders. And a lot of those second rounders were publically discussed as better prospects. At least we fired our CHL scout. Anyway stillman has motor, hands and physical aspect. If he will learn defensive/positional aspect, he can be fourth line player on cheap deal, who can score some goals and create some problems for opponents. It’s good to have and save the cap space for top-6 forwards/top-4 defensemen.
  21. it’s ok to pay him 8 mil. He is top 50 player in points. It’s a first line player. 10% of cap space is okay for 1st line level player. Zajac placed more cap space % in his first year of his long term deal.
  22. He needs experience. Like everybody else. Nico was great defensively, but didn’t produce a lot. Meier was good physically but didn’t produce a lot. Bratt was good in transition and creating, but didn’t produce a lot. It is his his job. He is good in transition and creating. He isn’t good against forechecking team, he is good against trap/breakaway teams and against teams with slow/weak defense. If you think that if we will lose depth of top players and it’s okay, you are making mistake. If you are trying to tell that Bratt is 60p per 82g player, you are making mistake. He has different sections. Where he was 1.5+ ppg player and where he was 0.7- ppg player. He played two seasons and produced 73 points in both. THIS is what he is. Don’t create false narrative. this team need experience and depth. 8mil in 83 mil cap hit is less than 10%. When cap hit will go up, % of cap hit will go down. 8 mil is what Fiala has(how many playoff points he produced?), we have another examples of Kyrou, Thomas etc. and Bratt played for “thank you” two years, he overplayed his actual deal. He proved everything and worth his money. And he is still very young. Thinking that Devils don’t need him and that he isn’t worth 8 mil in our cap space is nonsense. He is great possession player and can take a time of good defensemen of opposition. If you think that players like him are growing on trees, you are wrong. If you think we can win the trade of him, you are wrong. If you think that trade of Bratt can make our team better, you are wrong. And his cap hit will not hurt us. 17.5 mil for Meier and Bratt will not hurt us. Because we need both. We need all of our core player to have more expiring each, more playoff experience, find better chemistry. And time.
