  1. I'm not happy either and I was one of the ones saying early last year when people were complaining how we were winning games 2-1 that a win is a win. Well this time it isn't. Not against a last-place team with a 3-0 lead when you nearly BLOW the damn game in the third period, allowing two goals in the final three minutes. Not when the Devils have given up, what ten, fifteen third-period leads this year? Yeah they've won four of five. Yeah Elias rules as of late. Yeah Marshall's been playing well. But the reason this team has won is defense and the defense has been ANYTHING BUT clutch this year.
  2. Oh leave me alone lol. I don't know where you had heard he would be back in late January but your source was obviously pretty accurate as things turned out. I told you all I had heard was March, if at all this season. Heck the article itself said he was supposed to have many more weeks of rehab so this was probably a surprise to a lot of others. I thought it'd be better for you to get a player that could help you sooner, oh well. Besides your wingers are doing pretty well. You've got two All-Stars at LW (and one of them deserves it) and two Young Stars at RW.
  3. Geez louise four straight penalties?! Well thank goodness the Jackets canceled that one out.
  4. I think we all need to wake up a realize that Elias and Gomez are brilliant and make whomever they play with better. Hell, I bet I could bury a few on a line with them. That said it does seem as if Elias and Gomez need a physical winger to get going. The only times Elias and Gomer have really clicked with each other this year were when they had Marshall and (gasp!) Turner with them. And the Elias-Gomez line didn't really get going last year until Marshall came over in trade.
  5. Maybe I should have disposed of Modano in similar fashion when I had Sedin...then again, Dallas has been playing a little better lately as a whole. I know he'd be picked up the minute I dropped him, so no harm in keeping him chained to my bench (though I probably will have to actually use him a couple of times to make up for the games Thornton's missing ) I was surprised to see you cut the cord with his Smytheness though...if nothing else because McClennan hasn't played much lately; has he been hurt? I know Turek's back so that's crowding their net up more.

    Audette

Heh I could be wrong but I think I'm the only one that's used Igor the Invisible.
  7. Nah he probably just gained weight trying to make up for the one inch of padding he can no longer have and went too far
  8. Well according to Jim Dolan (Sather's buttbuddy), there will be no change for the rest of the year. Derek must be thrilled
  9. 1. Patriots 2. 29 3. Carolina FG 4. FG 5. Brady 6. Carolina 7. Patriots 8. I'm tempted to say Ty Law, but I'll go with the safe pick - Brady

    John Madden

Well Madden seems to be on-again and off-again with the scoring - two years ago he had a similarly wretched year; scored like 11 goals before a surge in the last five games of the year got him to 15. Doesn't mean he's not trying or we should get on him. He is what he is, a 15-20 goal scorer. His defense hasn't gone down.
  11. Someone might want to tell (N)Єverson the Nets are 28th in the NBA in attendance and the Nets play a wide-open style. It's not the style, it's the location. Especially whereas the Devils are concerned, I mean the Flyers practice in South Jersey, the Ranger$ are six miles away, the Islanders have been around longer. Hell even the Sabres have been around longer though I doubt many people that 'would' be Devils fans are Sabres fans. But this has all been gone over 500 times and probably will be gone over 500 more before either the Devils move or they're in a more stable situation.
  12. hmm... I'd take issue with that comparison .. except that I don't follow basketball so I have no idea what I'm talking about in Scott's case. Maybe he did lose the team like Larry did... Well, it is kind of similar but in some ways this is even more of a travesty. Basically one guy (Kidd) got Scott fired; the 22-20 start actually had very little to do with it, it was just a convenient excuse. Heck, if it wasn't for Kidd and all the nonsense this offseason Scott would have had an extension and there would have been one less distraction to deal with. The Nets had ZERO winning tradition before Scott got there. Also (and this is completely wrong, but this is the line of thinking that's been going around) even when they won always someone else got the credit, whether it was Kidd or Scott's top assistant for the last couple of years Eddie Jordan. I'm no basketball fan but come on...Scott apprenticed under Pat Riley and Larry Brown - the man's got to know something about coaching and winning. And not only do they let Kidd fire him, they replaced him with a guy I'm not sure anyone has ever heard of. They're trying to get back to the Finals and they go with a rookie coach?! Lou had nothing to do with this; he announced he was leaving the Nets just recently. Well Lou might have influenced Thorn in general thinking while he was there, but he didn't make the decision. Man, 'tis the season for firings around here. Chaney and Scott within a week and a half of each other, Jarvis at St. John's, Fassel.
  13. Now if they only had Igor in they'd be 3-3 on the power play...
  14. A robot crawls through the Internet, saving and indexing everything it finds. That's where the results in search engines comes from. Archive.org lets you go back and look at those old saved webpages. So, the old posts don't exist on njdevs.com, but some web server somewhere has them saved on its hard drive. Well, the first pages, anyway, I don't know if it goes any deeper into the threads than that. No what I meant is how did you come up with the threads after getting to archive.com? I typed in njdevs.com and all they gave me was stuff from this board.
  15. Geez, Marshall's been playing well the last few games and he still gets ragged on. I guess he's this year's whipping boy
  16. It is amazing, 7 of the last 10 wins came via the shutout. That probably hasn't happened too many times with any team. Yeah 4-1, 5-1 would be a sight to see.
  17. How does that archive thing work; I didn't think these posts still existed.
  18. Well they may have to pile up a few goals, no Marty shutout tonight.
  19. Elias makes it 2-0 on the PP. Will the Devils actually pile up a few goals tonight?
  20. Actually there is sort of an unwritten rule that the NHL wants every team to be represented either in the All-Star game or the Young-Stars game. This was written in a Yahoo! article before the selections: And they all did get at least one representative in the Young Stars' game.
  21. Here's MORE Holik from the Ledger:
  22. For posterity, here's the whole article, including the Holik quote: B)
  23. The last time they faced the Thrashers the Thrashers were shut out in the previous TWO games, and the Devils goosed them AGAIN B)
  24. When has Sather EVER done this? He could have had Derian Hatcher for merely cash and Hatcher was never on his radar screen. Not that it would have mattered as it turned out since Hatcher got hurt, but still there was a chance to significantly upgrade the defense that they passed on. Now they would have to trade for a defenseman, and what do the Ranger$ have to trade unless they deal off Lundmark, who's hurt now anyway. The only goalie that's out there that's really any sort of upgrade over the dreck they have might be Kolzig, whose numbers aren't going to be any better on the Ranger$ than they are on the Caps. CuJo's no longer on the market. I can't imagine Tampa trading Khabi when they're trying to win a second straight division. Burke's finished.
  25. Can't wait to hear Mount Holik erupt tonight on the MSG postgame and/or tomorrow in the papers
