  1. Well maybe I'll start going back towards Derek instead of away from him now that Marty got off the schneid tonight Too bad Jackman got hurt AGAIN, I held him on the roster for a few weeks and he winds up playing one game for me; oh well. Using an IR slot isn't that big a deal anyways.
  2. Well I guess the worrying can cease for now, at least for the next two nights Big, big win. Just the kind they needed.
  3. I dont think we could afford to trade either of those two... I think it would be more reasonable to trade a propsect and a higher pick.... Yeah, instead of losing games 2-1 and 3-1 they'd be losing them 3-2 and 4-2. Lou doesn't usually make his big moves now anyway, but at this point they'd better lay the lumber to the Penguins by AT WORST two goals on Wednesday or Lou may have to.
  4. Smart kid. The other injury - I didn't see it but heard about it - was to Bill Lindsay of the Thrashers who was hit in the throat with a puck and is out for the season with a fractured larynx. How can you protect the throat????? Freakish! I think the culture in Toronto is more permissive to shields after what happened to Bryan Berard.
  5. Well on the one hand I think Lou signed Brown with the idea that the kids might not be ready or maybe one would be and Brown'd be around as the #7 but on the other hand Lou probably had it in his mind that he'd bring Martin and Hale up to learn under Stevens and co. while he had the chance, so I'm not sure why Lou bothered with Brown in retrospect IF he planned to bring the kids up all along. Gotta say this for Brown, he's drinking the Kool-Aid by the gallon
  6. Well it's stupid if you lose but if he won he would be compared to Joe Namath, or Mark Messier. But I thought it was funny too. Hasselbeck looks like an absolute buffoon now that not only they lost but he threw the INT that led to it. Sucks for him because now nobody's gonna remember how great he played up till that point, all anyone will remember is his silly guarantee and how he failed miserably in the OT to back it up.
  7. Where did anyone say those players would be in the minors for six years? Edit: Okay you're going off Tri's quote, but it's not quite the same thing.
  8. If effort was the problem I believe that if not Stevens surely BURNS, who never met a butt he wouldn't blister, would be on them for lack of effort. Until Burns reads the riot act I'm not going to believe it's a lack of effort. It's a slump. It happens, even to us. The Devils have always been living on the edge as far as goal-scoring but now they've gone over the edge without Langs and with Friesen having an even longer hibernation than last year. They're missing some key role players too. Of course they know they're held to a higher standard (see my sig) they don't need Stevens or Burns to point that out ALL the time. But they just came off a nine games out of ten stretch on the road over the last three weeks and they have some guys hurt. If the losing continues you bet your bottom dollar one of them (if not both) will speak up, but there is still a half-filled glass here. This year's team is 11 games over .500 less than halfway through the season. Last year's team was 26 games over .500, so we're still on pace to be very close to last year's pace which was a 108-point season. The Devils in this slump (one win in six games) still have gotten points in four of the six games - one win, two ties (granted bad ties but still points), and an OT loss. They're five points off the Flyers with three games in hand; they're still not 'that' far back.
  9. Embarassing isn't the word for it; it's more like a slow leak in a tire. Vokoun's highway robbery on Nieds kind of set the tone early. The first real slump in the Burns era, barring a stirring comeback one win in six games and a couple of bad ties against the Caps and Hawks.
  10. BTW how is it you're a Cowboy and a Devil fan? You don't seem to like the Stars too much so it can't be a Dallas thing
  11. Especially with Bill as your coach; his shelf life is 2-3 more years tops.
  12. The Stars' demise is incredible to me, I mean last year they had the best record in the West and were maybe one late goal in that Game 6 against Anaheim away from at least getting to the Stanley Cup Finals and now they're a total disaster. The only major moves they made in the offseason were letting Hatcher go and trading Sydor for Numinnen, I think.
  13. One more I couldn't resist...the rematch between the '01 Devils and '01 Avs Game 1 - at Colorado 4-1 Avs Game 2 - at Colorado 5-4 Devils (coming back from a 4-0 first period deficit ) Game 3 - at New Jersey 4-2 Devils Game 4 - at New Jersey 7-5 Devils Game 5 - at Colorado 4-2 Devils Oh well
  14. Another what-if series that almost happened ('93/94 Canucks at '93/94 Devils): Game 1 - at New Jersey 4-0 Devils Game 2 - at New Jersey 6-4 Devils Game 3 - at Vancouver 3-2 Devils in 2 OT Game 4 - at Vancouver 2-0 Devils Bah, what might have been
  15. Well I did a what-if series with the '87/88 Devils and the '87/88 Oilers (which was one game away from being a reality of course ) The scores are insanely high Game 1 at Edmonton 8-6 Oilers Game 2 at Edmonton 7-4 Oilers Game 3 at New Jersey 8-6 Oilers Game 4 at New Jersey 8-5 Devils (hey we won a game ) Game 5 at Edmonton 10-6 Oilers
  16. This is the one I wanted to see: 2002-03 Devils at 2000-01 Devils, polar opposites. Talent won out, as the 2000-01 Devils triumph 4-1. Proof the computer doesn't account for heart But still a cute site http://whatifsports.com/nhl/boxscore.asp?GameID=471227&ad=1
  17. Yeah, if anything the OTHER way around would be ironic; if Danton tried to take a run at Elias or Brodeur and got himself hurt.
  18. Oh it is Ottawa, I actually thought it looked like a Sen crest at first but then I thought it might have been the Mooterus uniform
  19. Who is that anyway? I'll just take a guess and say Erskine?
  20. WAY different; Friesen was not 43 years old and Friesen at least had played in a similar system in San Jose, it was his head that was in question not his talent.
  21. Damn Blues; I thought I was gonna get a GWG with Thachuk but the Rangers scored with less than 20 seconds left For all of my team's success I can't buy a GWG
  22. Even leaving the fact that he's 43 years old out of it - which you can't do AND leaving his TOTAL suckage this year out of it - which you also can't do, I don't know what lends anyone to say Larionov will automatically have a big playoffs. He has 97 points in 149 career playoff games which isn't that great considering he's been on the Wings for much of his career, and the last five years he has 21 points in 44 playoff games.
  23. Ayieee...ANOTHER blown third-period lead. Yeah I know it's only a one-goal lead, yeah I know it was the PP but still if there were a tearing-the-hair out smiley (PK?) I'd use it right about now
