    GDT: CBJ @ Devils 6PM

I’m sure that’s the thinking, but giving up 3 goals when you face 55 shots (and give up only one goal in seven shootout rounds) is very good. IMO, Blackwood stood out more than anyone else on the Devils tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good Hockey Weekend Across America (or at least along the I-78/I-81 corridor) for me personally: *Attend Binghamton/Hershey game on Saturday night, first time ever seeing the B-Devils, and they get a come from behind road win over a division leader. *Attend Blue Jackets/Devils game on Sunday night, my annual Devils home game in Newark, and they get a come from behind home win over a playoff contender that has had their number. Damn right - Blackwood should have been the #1 star tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He’ll have to change his last name to Blackrubber after this game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m sitting on the end that has seen 0 goals, but at least I saw some fine Blackwood saves in the 2nd period. [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Coleman to the Bolts

Real disappointed Coleman was traded even with the good return, but the Devils weren’t going anywhere this season and it would probably would be an uphill climb next season to make the playoffs even with Coleman. The Devils just need more of their young guys to live up to or preferably exceed their pedigrees. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I made my annual trip to Newark to see a Devils home game for this? On a more positive note, I went to see Binghamton last night in Hershey, and the B-Devils posted a 4-2 win against a division leader (actually a home-and-home sweep against a division leader), despite failing to score on a full 5 on 3 (major 5 minute penalty, then a 2 minute minor about a minute later) in the 1st period while down 1-0. Hopefully the big Devils post their own comeback tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Coleman to the Bolts

My thought exactly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. What’s sad is this game could have been worse - the Caps could have scored about 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. At least that didn’t happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. The Devils actually controlled play pretty well the last 5 minutes of the 2nd period, even with being on the penalty kill for 2:40. Hopefully they can carry that solid play over to the 3rd period. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The Devils need to build momentum on this power play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I knew the Devils/Capitals game I’d be able to attend would start like this. Ugh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. The timing was odd, but based on the Devils' lack of improvement during Shero's tenure I have no problems with the firing.
  15. UGH, I almost always attend the Devils' games in DC, but couldn't easily do so today due to work commitments. (The fact there were NFL playoff games today and the Devils will be back in DC five days from now, a game I will attend, were also factors.) So the Devils decide to post their most impressive win of the season tonight. (Shakes head in personal disappointment and positive amazement.) Good to see the Devils play such a good game even if I wasn't there to see it.
  16. Somebody please tell Josh Harris and David Blitzer you shouldn't trust the process when Ray Shero is your GM.
  17. This is DevsMan84's domain, but why don't you just buy another knockoff instead and retire your Hall knockoff jersey?
  18. FWIW, the Hynes firing is not being shown as one the main, current stories on the ESPN app (and that's despite the fact I have the Devils identified as one of my favorite teams). I didn't see the news until I read a non-hockey article on the app and saw the story headline underneath the story I was reading. (I don't live in north Jersey, and I don't receive sports notifications on any app because I don't want my smartphone buzzing every 5 minutes, so those things are part of it too.)
  19. Replace the “y” and “n” with the letters “r” and “o” and rearrange the letters to spell “Shero”? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. The Hynes firing needed to happen, but considering the Devils still have a weak defensive group and very weak goaltending, and Ray Shero has been on the job for 4+ seasons, one could argue his failures at building the roster were/are a bigger problem than Hynes’ coaching. Time will tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Fire Hynes

You really need to quote a Bruce Springsteen lyric rather than a lyric by The Who. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Fire Hynes

Basketball is a different game than hockey - 1-2 great players can turn into a bad basketball team into a very good one instantaneously. Everyone knew the 76ers were going to be bad in the Sam Hinkie “trust the process” years, including the 76ers themselves, and the franchise thought if it stockpiled enough high draft picks, it would get those 1-2 great players. (For whatever it is worth, as a 76ers fan I never fully trusted Sam Stinkie’s process.) What I said above isn’t true in hockey. Much like baseball, you need a handful of at least good to very good players to have the kind of depth to develop a good team. You can’t just stockpile draft picks. And the Devils’ moves this past offseason, coming after a disappointing season that itself followed a semi-surprising playoff season, yelled “we’re intending to get back to playoff contention now”. I don’t think any sort of move with Hynes will occur in immediate future, but the ice he’s skating on is getting thinner. If the Devils don’t start playing better, I could see Hynes getting axed as early as the end of November. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I didn't watch the entire game, but the portion I saw (most of the 3rd period) was so God damn boring and terrible it was hard to stay awake.
  24. What are you talking about? The Devils' identity so far is that they suck defensively, and when they don't suck defensively, they suck offensively.
  25. I was just going to say before that last Flyers goal that you know a game is going badly when the announcers are focusing more on talking about human interest stories than the game in front of them despite the fact the trailing team desperately needs to generate offensive pressure.
