Its just that we had this discussion already. Everybody flamed that guy too. Even then, when cory was playing average. now hes puting up vezina numbers and a new one comes around. you did it to yourselfFunny, I expected the flaming and verbal abuse but this is ridiculous. Five years ago when I predicted that Lou was done and hurting the franchise people acted the same way. Don't believe me? Look it up. I posted a poll just like this one.
I think it is sad that people cannot have a mature discussion here. Moreover, I think we will regret not trading him. I'll put it down in writing: the Devils aren't going to win anything with CS because the team simply doesn't have the assets to do it before he fades. We will never develop a SC winning set of forwards and finish fleshing out the Def (as well as give them experience) and have enough depth at these positions in the next year or two.... And probably not three. Even if we hit home runs with almost EVERY draft pick this year the players would take 2-3 years to develop!
Consider this: how much talent, more or less, does this team have than the Devs of the late '80s? That team still took half a decade to mature. What level of play will CS be at in half a decade?

Trading cory for "assets" when he is your only asset is how you become Edmonton. They are the benchmark for how not to run a hockey team. Stupid discussion.First - it's an interesting point of discussion. He wasn't inflammatory about it.
Second - the above is why you might entertain the idea. Devils are in contention for a top-2 pick without Cory this season.
That being said - I'm glad we have him because he's fun to watch.
This is the answer. No counterarguments. You my friend, win.Absolutely not. Goalies peak a lot later than other players and as you mentioned, he has low mileage. No reason he can't be elite until he's 35 and if the offense isn't rebuilt by then, the Devils have bigger issues.
-
No. What the fvck. How does this even come up when hes literally the only reason we have won more than 10 games this season. Without him we maybe have half the wins we have now. I just dont understand you people sometimes.
-
Ryder wont bring anything good back, hes better off filling the gap at right wing cause we have none. plus with him in the top 6 we might get mcdavidHe should still push to move Ryder if he can and convince Zidlicky to waive his NTC.
-
Tick tockBlue Jackets trade right wing Adam Cracknell to the St. Louis Blues
-
Honestly if Jagr doesnt get at least a 3rd whats the point in trading him
-
Yes, Jagr literally plays the same position as Kane. He is a left handed right winger who can move the puck and shoot(albiet not even close to Kanes skill)Chicago is an obvious destination now with Kane pretty much done for the year.
-
If he doesnt make a move by saturday im gonna be in his office with a fvcking baseball batWhy tell us? Tell your dad! :-P
-
this was a mist win basically, sell everyone i dont really give a sh!t anymore
-
Typical, im gonna go throw up, bye guys
-
Bullsh!t, they missed the slash and didnt call it until the period was over, should not be a PKUgh and we took a penalty to close out that period. Come on
-
fvcking new that was gonna happen
-
Some real good chances on that PP
-
Dano just mentioned that Russian guy
-
Doubt Zids gets traded but i will bet any amount of money Jagr goes(most likely to chicago) and Ryder is either traded or waived

i heard this as wellna multiple sources saying that if the Kings don't make the playoffs this year, that pick becomes a 2016 1st rounder
-
Makes you wonder what exactly Lou is doing right now. I think i know the answer and its not exactly goodAs @TSNAaronWard reported, CAR trades Sekera to LAK for 1st round pick and a prospect.
-
Winnik to Pens as per TG's twitter
-
I wish Michaletti or however you spell it would just admit that he sucks off Kreider after each game. So fuxking annoying

On the Cory topic, i might be wrong but im under the impression that there were better offers on the table from teams such as edmonton. i might be wrong thoughI was never a really big fan of the Cory trade. When you see Bishop going for Conacher and a 4th, or Bernier going to Scrivens Frattin and a 2nd, it seemed like an overpayment to me to give up the 9th pick.
Trade Deadline: Regardless, moving from this point forward is this is about. I'm more in favor of Lou's mentality than most of you probably because there is something to be said about the discipline and mentality that the Devils create in their players. If all of a sudden Lou starts treating them like cattle, trading them for assets, that gets eroded. Don't get me wrong, if Jagr wants out, trade him. If Zid wants out, trade him. But the more players that get traded, the more it hurts the culture of the team. And is it worth it to hurt the culture for an extra 2nd rounder?
Off season: The forwards need to be upgraded. Everyone knows that. But hitting on the high pick that can play now that can grow into a first liner, signing a couple of right wingers that don't blow up like Ryder or Brunner did with maybe a small trade could have us in the playoffs with a bright future. For example:
Cam - Zajac - Justin Williams
Henrique - Elias - Trade
Ruutu - Draft Pick - Free Agent
Zubrus - Josefson - Gionta
Greene - Larsson
Merrill - Severson
Helgeson - Gelinas
Cory
Now, the question is if Lou still has it in him to make these sort of moves. I think he does.

The rags seem just fine while doing just that with klein. lol just sayinThey weren't a very good defensive team when they had Suter and Weber. That's the point he is trying to make. They're better now defensively than when they had Suter. Part of that is the forwards being better, but part of that is also the defense - they're not using Kevin Klein as a 2nd pairing D man anymore. They have more depth there.
-
merril is potential top4 imoZajac (2nd line center)
Fayne (2nd pair defensmen)
Fraser (fringe defensmen)
halischuk (fringe forward)
henrique (3rd line winger)
josefson (4th line center)
Gelinas (3rd pair defensmen)
merrill (3rd pair defensmen)
larsson (Potential 1st pair defensmen)
severson (Potential 1st pair defensmen)
Last 10 years folks
The only new scout I see is Steve Kariya, maybe he can see skill.
Should Schneider be traded?
in Hell
