  1. Thanks to everyone! I'm glad people liked it. I just felt the need to make something to show my respect for the man who brought hockey to New Jersey. Insanity thanks for the critique, I was going for a darker look though given the content of the graphic but if you care to use it and would like it lightened up just let me know. Again thanks everyone...feel free to keep the comments and critiques coming!
  2. Just thought I'd make a little sig in honor of the passing of Dr. McMullen. If anyone wants to use it feel free to save the pic and use it. Large Sig I also made a smaller one just in case people don't like big sigs but still want to use it. Small Sig Let me know what you think...too dark? too happy? too sad? Feel free to comment.
  3. Exactly...any team that were able to bring in a big amount of players will have a harder time creating that chemistry...I mean that is one thing not many writers or fans or whatever have actually mentioned...other than the fact that we lost two big guys we are still the same core team, same chemistry only multiplied because of Robinson but then you have teams like the Pens or the Blues or Atlanta who went out and did a lot of things to improve over the free agency frenzy but that won't start to show until a month or two in the season after (and IF) those teams' players can work well together.
  4. I think its a realistic look at what each player can do with regards to salary cap. I mean that will really determine who will go...not exactly what they did last year but what they can bring to the "new" NHL...I love Brylin to death and hope he would never be one to go but given salary and play...who knows...Brylin is great at being good and consistent but does that match up with someone who can be great with speed in this new era? I could see getting rid of baggage like Langdon, Oliwa and possibly Kozlov or White...as much as it would suck to see Brylin or White go..its just a matter of what we have in Albany that can really produce with the new rules especially based on salary. So, we really have to think of it that way as opposed to "well, Freeze or Lang had horrible seasons last year they are at the top of the list" type of thing because in my opinion (without any comment from Red would be nice) Freeze could be a player that could produce more than Brylin possibly could in this type of situation...but its all speculation anyway and Lou will reveal who goes when he decides to!
  5. Yeah, Desmond and Jack weren't friends, they had just met running at the stadium. It was only in there to introduce him since he was going to be in the hatch...that and to show the "miracle" of Jack's future wife walking again. I did like when Jack said see ya later and Desmond said "yeah in another life brother"....that "brother" bit was annoying but guess they had to let the audience know for sure that it was him at the end of the episode....I thought it was good overall. Interesting with Shannon seeing Walt too...astral projection maybe?? (that is the idea that the soul can leave the body) or maybe she's just tired and needs some Sayid-a-lovin'.
  6. I agree with the above post. Shootouts are not a perfect solution but it is a good solution to one of the big problems with drawing in fans which is ties. But, SueNJ, I should have corrected myself, the rule changes would bring them in but the shootout would add some finality to the situation. What I meant was that I like the idea of a shoot out and the NHL added that (along with the new rules) as a money marketing scheme to bring in casual fans. I kind of derailed myself when talking about why I feel the NHL put in the shoot out but overall I meant the new rules as well as the shootout and my main statement was just the fact that I do like the idea of a shootout. I just think that is it too often in the past NHL that I've sat through a game only to be dissapointed with a tie (especially if I'm actually at the game). It is just beyond my comprehension, i guess, that even a hardcore fan can walk away from a tied game and say, " oh man, that was a great game!" Again that's just me. Two hockey fans walking to their car after a Devils/Rangers game (final score Devils 0 Rangers 0) Guy 1: oh man that was awesome, don't you think? Guy 2: yeah dude, that was great. I loved when Gomez almost scored. Guy 1: oh i know, but I got a little worried when Jagr almost scored. Guy 2: yeah yeah, but when Mogilny almost scored, that was awesome. Guy 1: ooooh yeah, great game. Guy 2: yeah great game. I just don't see that
  7. I agree, Don...and I know I'm gonna get strung up for this but I like the idea of the shoot out (regular season not EVERY exhibition though). I mean (with the exception of exhibition games) it's only going to be implimented after overtime anyway, not in place of it. Gimmicky? yes. But you have to think about the NHL realising two things after this lockout. 1.) The hardcore fans are coming back regardless because they are just that, hardcore fans. and 2.) Casual fans and people who don't care about hockey are going to stay just that unless something happens. So growing up in TX, where hockey is at least 8th on the list of popular sports behind bowling and fondling yourself (joke) then you have to understand that from a point where the NHL isn't even sure if it can survive after the lockout much less thrive then certain things are going to have to change. Evolution...you really think it was player safety they had in mind when they implemented visors or helmets...NO...it's protecting the safety of what's making the money and if you have a really fast player (most likely a good player if he's fast and skilled) who gets rammed into the boards after a breakaway with no helmet then you could easily lose that star for a very long time. And thus possibly turn a team into a losing team and losing fan base which equals $$$. I understand the hesitation behind it but in the end if it isn't making money and players are getting hurt then I'm sure it would be taken away. So, relax and watch hockey...because I just look as it as a way to see the skilled at their best. Of course this is just my opinion
  8. I kinda hoping it's Ahonen...It seems like forever there has been talk like he's our future after Marty and it has to suck a little to spend so much time in Albany. If not for Marty's massive playing time then he would have been up here several times. I think, out of Clemmenson and him, he would have the best chance to be a starter for another club so hopefully with the new rules (faster play leads to more shots, more shots lead to more fatigue, and theoretically would lead to backups starting more, but who knows) he'll get some playing time in the big leagues!
  9. Thanks! I have to say that I actually like the logo though...I mean I think its better than that putrid orange (sorry but I never really cared for the orange) I think the design looks sleeker...but hey they are trying to go for the whole "new era of hockey" thing so a new logo was not a surprise...anyway everyone feel free to comment on the wallpaper and let me know if you are going to use it, you like it, hate it, whatever!
  10. Hey guys! Just thought I'd post a little generic NHL wallpaper for all those who are just waiting for the season to start. Let me know what you think! The Chase Resumes Wallpaper

    Devils notes

ok, now that alone excites me...lets just say that the Devs like what they see with Minard and he's willing to play for low pay. Now big ifs but so now we have Minard (who scored 49 goals in the ECHL being on a line with Gomez) and Mogilny (who scored the same amount when he was a Devil) So if all this happens I've got first dibs...the MGM line has been named and I take all the credit ...you know...IF all this falls into place.
  12. I think White and Rafalski will step it up big time and by next season maybe we could call Rafalski a number 1 guy. For the money Raff is making making he better be. As for Matvichuk I see him playing like a better Daneyko a No. 2 guy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We also have to understand that there has been no need for a no. 1 D man. We've always had Nieds or Stevens. So that took care of No. 2 and No. 1 respectively. Of course one of our players will step up. It would be unlikely for them not to. It's not that they haven't shown the leadership it's just that we haven't needed it.
  13. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I Agree totally. Elias to me is the epitome of all three things and deserves to be captain. Before this illness and the lockout I think he missed 2 games in the past three seasons, both times he had the chance to go to arbitration he's chosen not to (the first time was when he was making the league minimum of 750k and had a his career best year and could have easily gotten more than he signed for) And everytime I've been to a game he is the first one out during warm-ups and the last one back in. He is the Devils' present and future. *steps down from soapbox* But understandable if someone else takes it while he's out.
  14. After watching bits of the Jets game I was laughing my @$$ off but then to see the first 10 minutes of the Cowboys game I was wondering if the Jets might have been sharing the same water as the Cowboys. But it all worked out in the end, at least for the Cowboys!!! You're right Crasher, this season is something to actually be excited about! Oh, and I live in Bayville which is about an hour and a half from Roselle Park. But I'll have to send you an IM if I get tickets to a Giants game. Don't think I would want to go to any Cowboys game up here alone! Especially Filthydelphia...
  15. Crasher...a Devs fan and a Cowboys fan?!?! I thought I was the only one! I live here in Jersey and my fiance and her family are all Jets fans. All they said after the Jets game was "I hope the Cowboys lose." It was very very nice to be able to see some offense. I hope they can keep it up. Jones had a tough time running but I'm sure that will get worked up. Bledsoe was amazing and I knew bringing him to Dallas was the best thing for both parties. Price wasn't even playing so I'm sure that will help our offense even more. I'm curious as to where they are going to put him after Crayton solidified his spot on the roster. He was amazing yesterday! It was also nice to see Keyshawn showing some vet skill like he should. That sideline catch for the first down was probably the finest I've seen from him since he's been a Cowboy! I can't wait for next Monday!!!
  16. Thanks and that wallpaper is awesome...you make that yourself? Very well done either way. I actually had made a Molgilny Wallpaper when he was with the Devs before. Unfortunatly it was a horribly bad wallpaper due to the lack of quality hi rez pics. But anyway if I can find a site with good quality pics then I would go back to doing single player wallpapers. Actually, I found one that I did centered around Elias (my fav. player). Elias Wallpaper Funny story though, I sent this particular wallpaper to the Devils website, back when it was rather boring and had nothing cool at all. Anyway, I stated that I had made a bunch of devils wallpapers and wasn't looking for any kind of financial compensation I just wanted to share them with Devils' fans. Well of course they declined and then a month later I saw this on their site. (just scroll down and click on Elias' name) Devils Elias Wallpaper I was a bit heartbroken at first but ahh well, that's the way life goes I guess.
  17. If and I do say if this article is completely acurate then I agree with seeing if it is a possibility to pay him coaching salary off the books and not counted against salary some sort of creative pay scheme that I'm sure Mario will pull off with himself and the Pens. But regardless, as much as I like and respect Stevens, given his age and the fact that he hasn't played hockey for what two years almost (I'm sure I'm wrong and I'm sure someone will point out exactly when the last time he played was) I don't think its too much to ask of a player, even if it is Stevens, to get the league minimum. I mean come on. I'd, as I'm sure most of you would, kill for a $450k a year salary. I understand this is professional sports but come on. That's not asking too much. And the article does say "MUCH MORE than the league minimum" so even more than 450k but not much...still enough for me if I could play hockey.
  18. Cool! Thanks, I'm impressed with Theodore for having a website like this because not many athletes do! Anyway, if anyone has any other requests for Wallpaper then feel free to let me know!
  19. Thanks for the comments. I was actually torn between using the gold or the red for the main color on the Sens but I wanted to go a little different because I feel a lot of teams i've made have red as a main color (Redwings, Devs, Canadiens) so I went with the gold and was very pleased. Thanks again. Also at first, I admit, I thought it was Theodore because he was who I searched for on Google and various other search engines but then when I put the wallpaper on my computer to test it out after it was completed I noticed the goalie was number thirty one so actually it is Jeff Hackett. I was going to correct this but I can't seem to get any high quality pics of Theodore.
  20. Well, I've been a bit busy but I decided to take some time this weekend and make two wallpapers so here they are. As per request. Please let me know what you think! Montreal Wallpaper Ottawa Wallpaper If anyone has any more requests just let me know.
  21. Thanks and I will do. That's just been my style as of late but I've also centered the wallpaper around one person so if there are any requests at all and if I can find Hi quality pics of the person I'll make 'em. Please feel free to post comments or thoughts on my work. I appreciate it!
  22. I've been checking out these forums for a while and just recently started posting. But anyway, I moved to NJ almost 6 yrs ago and have been a Devils fan since my fiance took me to my first game in January of 2000. I just thought I'd put my two loves together and see what you guys think. I make tons of Windows wallpaper but here is my most recent, its a new style I've been into lately. Let me know what you think. P.S. As I've said I am new here and forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this. I was contemplating Devils' fans only but I am working on doing all the NHL teams in this style so if there is a request let me know. Devil's wallpaper Also, I've got a blog which I rant on about anything and everything but the Devils have been a topic on more than one occasion if anyone wants to check it out. I've got some flash games and a clip of the week from something funny I've found on the web and I have a few of my wallpapers up there as well and more will be posted. Thanks guys! Any feedback is welcome...unless it's bad UnderDog Blog
  23. WTF? No players were named -- basically you say then Florida has only sh!te to trade and the devils can only pick up sh!te compared to what they lose... Oliwa for Luongo there now Florida gets the shaft.. happy? In fairness maybe I missed a new rumor today -- but all the names being bandied about are bandied by US only! NJdevs rumors are what they ALL are -- Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) just set the boundries for us to knock ourselves out in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Relax there Darwin...you're making us Dogs look bad. As of earlier today Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate) had "Florida would end up with Jovanowski and Cloutier (or possibly Bertuzzi), Langenbrunner, and Friesen Vancouver would end up with Luongo and Brylin NJ would end up with a three high draft picks" which would mean that pretty much we would get shafted because we would be giving up Lang and Brylin which are both great players for us and getting only draft picks in return. I mean I know you can get great players with good drafts but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, these are just rumors so can't we all just get along!
