New Rumors:

San Jose looking to move Marleau

Philly in the race for Brad Richards

Dallas looking to deal its pick, possibly to Toronto

Philly in the Richards race makes sense since they now have cap space and got rid of their top two centers yesterday, but that's not going to affect tonight since Richards has said multiple times he's going to wait until July 1 and not waive his NMC.

Im watching the 2010 Draft now on NHL Network. They start picking around 715-720. The # 4 pick was at 7:45.

Philly DOESNT have enough cap space unless they do something else.

Voracek and Simmonds are RFA's and after they sign theywill only have 3-4 MM left if that.

True, but that is only 1 week away. I am just shocked that they have the space to entertain this.

I think Pronger is starting the season on IR which, I believe this gives them space, as well as the increase to the cap.

They technically can go 6 MM over the cap, but, then of course they would have to move more space. Secondly they will need cap money next yr for JVR.

Lots of things to consider.

They also have 3 goalies under contract.. so could get some room there.

I forgot about the goalies under contract. Leightenon and Boucher go for future picks.

they have a ton of contracts already taking up that space above the cap, though.

Yeah, unless they move some more significant people, there's no room for Brad Richards. There are also some delusional Flyers fans at HF that think they're going to somehow sign Stamkos to an offer sheet. I believe Holmgren said yesterday that he likes the team the way it currently is and is only looking to add some character guys, if anything. But now we know he's insane so take that for a grain of salt.

I don't understand why he wouldn't let them trade his rights. He is under no obligation to sign with the team that trades for him. They just have exclusive rights for the next week. It's the same thing Phoenix did with Bryzgalov and Minnesota did with Rolston when they traded his rights to tampa and they signed him so we didn't have to make that mistake then we signed him.

For all we know he could be on vacation and doesn't want to be bothered with contract talks until July 1st.

Plus there really is no incentive for him to help out the Stars anymore.

I guess it woulda just been nice to leave them a 3rd round pick or something after those millions they dumped on him. But you're right, he most likely has his own reasons. There's definitely some jobs I've left that I didn't want to help out at the end, haha.
