No 'head' coach per say, but three equally 'powerful' assistant coaches. ...yeah, I'm that bored today and 3 alternate captains. devils; we're just not too sure. Sergei Brylin is on the ice in a coaching role with the second group as is Kevin Dean. NJDevs4978 Posted July 11, 2011 Share Posted July 11, 2011 True. But, maybe a team loaded with kids will postpone a breakdown. We dont have a-hole vets like Langs and Madden around. That had nothing to do with why Larry melted down, he dealt fine with most of those same vets from '00-02. The team was struggling and he short-circuted because he actually cared too much. Granted he had some unfortunate circumstances that year too (the MMM fiasco, a Devils team in flux having to replace Stevens and Nieds with Elias on the shelf and no captain), but no thanks to a third go-around.
