Colin226
I will reserve my judgement of this signing till at least a few games into the season. Now let's get back now to the next most important thing on the off-season list: the Devils Dancers auditions on August 7th. I hope they keep Alisha again for this year. She had a strong start to the season but looked a little tired by the end of it.. I say if she has a strong audition then keep her, otherwise I think Lou makes a trade for Monica of the Islanders Ice Girls.. Luckily, the Devils Dancers don't have coaching issues

Luckily, the Devils Dancers don't have coaching issues All I know is that we need an upgrade in the looks department. We have to release some of the girls and add fresh and better looking blood into the team. Also a coaching change might be in order. The girls are decent dancers I just feel the dance routines are very high school-esque.

CarpathianForest
Cheerleaders are about as useful as having a third nipple on your foot(go look it up). Still nice to look at I guess.

NJDevs4978
What was DeBoer's association with Sutter in juniors? I thought he was a coach under him but they weren't part of the same juniors team...was it in the world championships or something?
insanity_gallops
Didnt someone say on these forums that they ahd a feeling it was definitley going to be hitchcock? LMAO! Everybody said it was going to be everybody. Welcome to life on the message boards in summer. What was DeBoer's association with Sutter in juniors? I thought he was a coach under him but they weren't part of the same juniors team...was it in the world championships or something? Sutter & DeBoer Took Same Path to the NHL WJC in 2005: Sutter head coach, asked DeBoer to be assistant. "In 2005 they hadn't won a gold medal in seven years," Sutter recalled. "I'll be quite honest. When they named me head coach, he was my very first choice to be my assistant. And I never looked at Pete as an assistant coach. I looked at him more like a co-coach with me." Sutter gave advice to DeBoer: Take the job That's the summarized version. My favorite lines are that Sutter "couldn't say enough" about the Devils' organization...and then offered DeBoer a job as an assistant in Calgary. I don't think anyone ever said it was going to be DeBoer, until Dreger's tweet past 1 PM. Astounding really that after a three-month search, the guy we eventually hired was never even leaked as a possibility. Only Lou. Twitter, blogs and a 24/7 media are no match for him
Microwavepizza
sounds like something lemaire would say....and i don't mean bingosauce lol weirdly... i COULD see Lemaire saying Bingosauce... he DOES have some funny liners... especially with that hardcore french Canadian accent haha but i like this... hopefully provides stability among the team rather than the revolving door of the last few years

Twitter, blogs and a 24/7 media are no match for him I was holding out hope that it'd be DeBoer, as had a few others I think...but yeah, his name got pushed somewhat to the back burner in that TG was pushing Therrien pretty hard despite his "I'm not saying it means anything, but he's the only person my sources have said interviewed for the job" qualifying statement. I'm thrilled, I really am. I think he could be a coach that sticks in New Jersey for years.

DaneykoIsGod
@TGfireandice Tom Gulitti DeBoer: "No point predictions or anything like that, but we want to be in the dance with a chance.” Ladies and gentlemen, your new head coach: Johnnie Cochran. DevilMinder
I wonder if one of Lou's criteria for hiring a coach is checking the news to see if the prospective coach blabbed to the press he was interviewed and thus striking him from the list. Here's to Deboer may he survive the year
CarpathianForest
I heard DeBoer took the job when Lou offered to get him a new Mercedes from Ray Catena at cost. I've never paid that much attention to the Devils cheerleaders. I suspect they all look like this since it's New jersey and all: Edited July 19, 2011 by CarpathianForest

I'm thrilled, I really am. I think he could be a coach that sticks in New Jersey for years. Oh don't get me wrong, he was actually my first choice at the beginning of this odyessey, but given the lack of speculation about him, I basically figured he wasn't a possibility. I think I even said at the beginning of this thread again I wanted DeBoer or Eaves, but that was like saying I want a million dollars, I didn't really expect it to happen And lol at the Sutter article, although he probably hadn't been officially offered the job at that point. I knew they were friends, just weren't sure if they actually coached together, I thought they had but didn't know where. I wonder if one of Lou's criteria for hiring a coach is checking the news to see if the prospective coach blabbed to the press he was interviewed and thus striking him from the list. You jest but with the way everything played out it does seem that way Edited July 19, 2011 by NJDevs4978

mmajeski06
TGfireandice Tom Gulitti David Clarkson on DeBoer: “I think Pete is going to be a great fit. Wherever he goes, he finds a way to get the best out of the players.” Something tells me Clarkson will not be traded now. He can start with Clarkson as his first volunteer and get him to stop falling down all over the ice and quit with the puck-drags and wrap-arounds.
