Lateralous
Nice deal for the Sharks and White gets another shot at the cup. Win-win.

aylbert
It's defintely a win for the Sharks... I'm sure White would have liked more cash, but waiting is scary proposition... especially if you want to be on a cup contender.

vadvlfan
He better get cheers in October or I'll be fighting people Devil fans will boo him, because....they just do. He had nothing to do with going to SJ, but our fans will show their stripes.

Madden got a cheer when he came back. Pretty sure that White will as well. The rich get richer, here. I won't boo him even though I really didn't think he was good the last few years. Only very few players in my opinion really deserve to be booed every shift. I will politely clap a little bit for at least the 2000-2004 years.

So did Gionta and Clemmensen, but all three were much more appreciated when they were here than Whitey.

I think you're wrong on this one. Devils fans tend to boo people who decided to leave, or left for a rival. White did neither. I was never a huge fan of the guy, but I definitely respect everything he did here.
DevsMan84
What former Devils get booed though? I know Gomez does and sometimes a couple of idiots have booed Niedermayer, but I am struggling to come up with anyone else (Holik did a little too I guess). Gomez only gets booed because of the way he left.

DevsMan84
Martin got booed too. That is true. So I guess we are up to 2 unless you want to count Holik.
aylbert
So did Gionta and Clemmensen, but all three were much more appreciated when they were here than Whitey. Before we drafted Parise, Whitey was my favorite player on the team... and still, the only jersey I have. Bummed he's no longer with us, but happy he didn't wind up like Pando. That is true. So I guess we are up to 2 unless you want to count Holik. Holik defintely counts; he'd got bood like crazy signing with the Rags for top dollar. I mean yeah I am not sure about this but for me Holik was just about the money. He was offered $9 million a year which is a crazy number even at that time considering his previous few years stats and he never panned out for them. With Gomez, there were hints for a year or so before he left NJ to sign with the Rags that he really wanted to play with them and whatever amount they threw at him, he would sign. So for me it was a bigger betrayal with Gomez but he was already starting his decline with us when he left so it was not a huge loss. halfsharkalligatorhalfman
Any Devils fan that boos a former mainstay who was waived by the team is a jackass, especially if he goes across the entire country to play.
Risky
Generally, the Devils mob is smart. They boo guys like Gomez, Holik, Langenbrunner, Martin. All who "asked off" the Devils in different ways. Guys like Rafalski, Madden, though, didn't get booed as fans know they were the ones who were shown the door. White won't get booed by the mob, if maybe by a few idiots. I will most likely clap for him too but just a polite clap too as I appreciate his work before he became a locker room cancer.
