MantaRay
Absolutely hideous. It's a knicks jersey with long sleeves. +1 These jersey just SUCK.
ThreeCups
So when is the Devils' new third being revealed? Rumor has it, that the jersey is black featuring the old Devils Den head on the crest, and smaller regular Devils logos on the shoulders.... +1 These jersey just SUCK. When are we finalizing the bet? RowdyFan42
No, it was in reference to the Barclay's Center arena opening in Brooklyn in 2012 where, conceivably, the Islanders could move when their lease with Nassau Vetrans is over. Not really. The Brooklyn arena was specifically designed to be unsuitable for a NHL team.
Devils Pride 26
I think that jersey would look a lot better if the logo was in the middle instead. Edited August 9, 2011 by Devils Pride

jim777
Not really. The Brooklyn arena was specifically designed to be unsuitable for a NHL team. Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark isn't ruling out a move to the new arena. "The Barclays Center will have an ice rink that can support professional hockey," Yormark said in a written statement. But, he added, "Our primary focus at the moment is to build the best sports and entertainment venue in the world." NHL hockey I'd disagree. It would max out around 14,500 seats from what I've read, and that would make it significantly smaller than even the Winnipeg arena. The Jets dodged the problem in the short-term by locking in 13,000 season ticket holders for multiple years, a task that would probably be daunting for a Brooklyn NHL team. But Brooklyn would have the advantage of having a higher income area and 14,500 for the Islanders is a tremendous uptick in attendance. Not to mention renewed Media Interest being in NYC. This is a win-win for both arena and Wang. I would use this as leverage to get the other county in Long Island to move on their interest. nmigliore
I'm not sure what it looks like. More Knicks than Mets. Or an awkward mix of both. Or something. I don't know. But they look awful. I just don't like the color scheme and I've never been crazy for the text hockey logos. Those were a fan made mock-ups that hit the internet years ago. The Devils have never planned for a third jersey (Lou has been dead-set against them since the FOX jerseys in 96) and just getting the throwback once a year was like pulling teeth. nmigliore
If they have to have a thrid jersey, why not that blue and orange bp jersey? They actually went with a blue-based uniform the other night for Fiesta Night: http://i53.tinypic.com/hueezb.png Get rid of the 'Los' and enlarge/center the 'Mets' and it would look pretty sweet, I think. I've always kind of liked the black, I guess because I'm biased, but I'd be all for dumping those for this.
Devil Dan 56
The FOX jerseys? I do remember what that was. Yeah, for those who don't remember the horrors of 3rd jerseys, in 1996 the NHL decided to have a few teams wear 3rd jersey's to be shown primarily on FOX. I guess to draw in fans or whatever. I think it was the first time the NHL started really doing 3rd's. It was Boston, Pittsburgh, LA, Anaheim, and Vancouver, and there would have been a St Louis one, too. Some classics here.... And as has been mentioned many times, we can thank Mike Keenan for refusing to allow his team to take to the ice in these... devilsfan26
That Canucks one was pretty cool, and the Penguins one wasn't bad either, though I am still against the idea of third jerseys.

Pittsburgh used their jersey as their main one for a few years after too. Wish I got me Kings and Ducks third jersey back then. Those are worth serious cash now. RunninWithTheDevil
Absolutely atrocious. But at this point the Islanders are a non issue. This is a non story. No amount of third jersey's could make me like or respect this mediocre club. Its kinda like polishing a turd.

I am still eternally grateful Lou doesn't get caught up in this third jersey bullsh!t. I agree. For a while there I was one of those rooting for a full time 3rd jersey but now that I see these other teams just getting a tad.....out of hand...with their scheme and jersey, Im happy with 1 or two games a season being the throwbacks. I like going to games also and seeing other fans in one of two jerseys.
