Satans Hockey
I think HDTV has also played a huge part in peoples decisions on whether or not to go to a game. It's cheaper to buy a nice sized tv and sit at home and watch the games then get season tickets. It also ends up being more convenient as well since you don't have to deal with driving, traffic, parking, etc. Now I know the experience isn't the same as being there but sometimes the advantages of it outweigh the negatives. I use to go to Jets/Giants games all the time but ever since I got an HDTV I stopped going. I never really enjoyed sitting outside in all sorts of different weather watching a game and dealing with a lot of obnoxious people who show up. Also this shouldn't become a who is a better fan argument, there are plenty of die hard Devils fans who have season tickets and who don't have season tickets. This board proves that with the game day chats, with people from all over the country, and other countries watching the games live together. Times are tough and the economy is tight right now and not everyone can afford season tickets even if they make a lot of sacrifices to purchase them. It used to be unwatchable on tv, just because you couldn't see the puck. Now on hd you can see it well for no money, from the comfort of home. I love going for the experience and to support the team, but it's no longer a necessity.
Blown01NJ
So I was just bored and cheap enough today to put together a little cost analysis chart for my season tickets this year. Every game I sell gets plugged in, and if I sell some and/or buy additional tickets for the same game it will account for that too. Looking to get a nice picture of what it actually costs to be a STH at the end of this year. Obviously sections and initial costs/quantity will vary person to person. I'm totally going to use this for my four seats as well. You my friend are the man! Thanks for making this!
Matteau#32
There's about 40 places within 10 minutes walking places that one can eat or drink at, ranging from mediocre pizza places and rowdy bars to fine dining. Courtside Cafe, Arena Lounge, Port 44, Brick City B+G, Theres a 14 page thread about eateries around the rock guess I need to look a little harder. When I have gone, I have taken the tpke to 15W and followed that one road all the way to just before Newark-Penn Station, parked and walked to the arena. I can send you the excel doc if you want. (This is just a jpg to give you the idea) Save yourself the hassle. You might find some better additions to formulas as well (such as quantity) whereas I will just insert the total sale price. I'm sure it can be improved but this should work fine. When I have gone, I have taken the tpke to 15W and followed that one road all the way to just before Newark-Penn Station, parked and walked to the arena. I take 13A and come down McCarter HWY or Broad (I think thats the name?). But seriously just within walking distance of the arena there's a load of places, and then in the ironbound there's even more. That's supposed to be on of the draws of the new arena in Newark. When I have gone, I have taken the tpke to 15W and followed that one road all the way to just before Newark-Penn Station, parked and walked to the arena. The best food is in the Ironbound. Just make a right on Market and go under the train tracks and you're there. Walk down Ferry or Market and you'll find an insane amount of bars and restaurants with spectacular, affordable food, usually Spanish, Portuguese, or Brazilian. You can usually get free street parking there as well, if you don't want to pay for a lot. I've been leaving my car there for a couple of years during games and it's fine -- it's the safest neighborhood in Newark.
Marv4Life
I've been leaving my car there for a couple of years during games and it's fine -- it's the safest neighborhood in Newark. Forest Hill might disagree. And there will now be 3 places to pre/postgame on Edison Place come opening night, and with Dinosaur BBQ coming afterwards it won't be too hard to find a place. Devils Dose
Just got my additionals for opening night! Can't Wait! Did you have any trouble? It's looking to me like many of the sections that they created aren't there for the presale. The map that's loaded in on Ticketmaster is outdated. Devils Dose
Did you add more in your section? How does it work? You can buy them anywhere you want. I'm not seeing the select-a-seat feature for this but that's okay. What I'm not liking though is that the section I want is not appearing for me to select. I don't know if it's unavailable or if they're having problems. Edited August 30, 2011 by Devils Dose

To me it seems pointless unless I can get seats right next to my seasons. The other option is to sell the season pair and get a group somewhere else. NJDevs4978
Sounds like I didn't miss much with the presale lol, no brown or aqua tickets available, and the tickets you can get have a $4-5 surcharge per ticket. Oh well, guess they didn't want too many of the non-sth's taking advantage of the sth 'loophole'. GoArmySports
Did you add more in your section? How does it work? Yes I was able to get more in my section. Did you have any trouble? It's looking to me like many of the sections that they created aren't there for the presale. The map that's loaded in on Ticketmaster is outdated. I had no trouble accessing the system. Although I did get the email from the Devils saying other people did have problems.
Blown01NJ
Seems pointless for me to even try to add with the presale. Cant get tickets in my section and the cheapest section is $41. No thanks.

They were holding back tickets so that ticket brokers couldn't get the cheaper seats. I think they should have let people know and I did call them and they were able to help me a little, but I don't fault them for that either. As for the processing fee, that's ticketmaster's doing, not the Devils.

cj241
Yea I get it, but be that as it may it renders the presale useless (for me anyway) You'll see more seats available for different sections available probably next week. They need to leave some open for the single game people as well. Again, if you call them, you might get what you're looking for.

cj241
Ticket brokers still exist? I don't know if it's so much brokers as it is scalpers, sorry if the word I used confused people.
