Chimaira_Devil_#9
Link Sorry if this has already been posted/discussed: Defenseman Bryce Salvador is looking forward to the time when his being in the Devils’ lineup again will be considered a “non-event.”For now, however, it’s still significant news that Salvador expects to be on the ice when the team’s veterans take part in their first practice of training camp on Sept. 17. Salvador, 35, missed all of last season with a cochlear concussion, but has been symptom free for an extended period now and has had no setbacks while going “full tilt” in his off-season workouts. “I’m back in full training, full everything, so I’m excited for the season,” he said today. After spending the summer in Minnesota working out and skating with a group of NHL players there that included teammate Zach Parise, Salvador has been back in New Jersey for the last couple of weeks and has been working out and skating at Prudential Center with about eight early arrivals, including Parise. It’s been a long road back for Salvador, but he’s received nothing but good news from the specialists that have been overseeing his recovery. The final formality will be to get medical clearance from the Devils’ doctors, which Salvador expects to happen “within the next couple of weeks.” After that, he’ll be approaching training camp like he always has. So it looks like he is back and ready to go, after everything that he has said and what has been published i think it would be impossible for Lou to stop him from playing or getting hit to retire etc. With white gone i hope he can come back and do a good job for the team. I would guess the parings would look someything like: Volchenkov/Greene Salvador/Fayne Tallinder/Taormina Spares: one of Larsson/Fraser/Corrente/Leach
BlueSkirt
in his two full seasons with the Devs he's a +7, with 7G and 23 A.
stevestevens
I don't know how confident I feel that he will actually be playing this season. He missed an entire year and who knows how well he will bounce back, I would assume that with White gone he has a better chance but I don't really know. Triumph
I'm more optimistic about him returning without symptoms and being healthy than I am about him playing well. Still, I think he could be a decent 3rd pairing option with Taormina.
Derlique
I was worried this would happen. We have Greene, Volchenkov and Tallinder as locks. Fayne is like 99 percent to make the team. Then Larsson, Sal, Urbom and Taormina are fighting for two spots
Pepperkorn
in his two full seasons with the Devs he's a +7, with 7G and 23 A. That's not too shabby.... I just can't get his playoff performance (or lack thereof out of my head)
Quinn01
I cant wait to see him back in the lineup. I have missed him. Hope he is as healthy as he thinks.
mouse
Would anyone else considering skating 7 d? We don't exactly play the 4th liners much, except on the PK, and Kovy double shifts anyway sometimes. I wouldn't mind giving some combination of Tao/Urbom/Larsson more ice time. Devilsfan118
Hopefully he fights for the 7th spot. If Larsson earns it, I want him in Sal's old spot
sundstrom
if he's beaten out a camp, then so be it, i'd think.
mmajeski06
Glad to hear he may be back. But let him compete for a spot, just like everyone else.
Devs4LIFE
Good luck beating out the youth movement battling for a spot, Sal.
GoArmySports
He's not going to have a spot handed to him but I'm glad he's recovered.
ATLL765
I'd imagine the lines are: Volchenkov-Greene Tallinder-Fayne Salvador, Taormina, Larsson, Urbom, Corrente or whoever earns it will get the 5 and 6 spots.
