Booth/Reinprecht traded to VAN

this read helped make some sense out of the deal

"If you're looking for Dale Tallon logic here, consider this: Booth was someone else's cornerstone, someone else's building block. Booth, and his long-term deal, simply weren't in the plans. (He had a no-trade clause that kicked in next summer, per George Richards.) For a team that added so much payroll so quickly, clearing out these contracts made fiscal, if not hockey, sense."

Booth's contract is pretty bad, but Samuelsson and Sturm are awful. This feels like a move designed to clear out Booth before he's untradeable.

Meanwhile the Canucks can theoretically pump up Booth and then deal him. It's interesting that a player like Booth, who's in his prime, being dealt for 2 players who aren't, this is a 'go for it now' deal, because it's hard to know what Booth actually is.
