Daniel
The guy grew up and lives in the area, so I don't think he'd be looking to move the team. Interesting that he was also rumored to be a purchaser of the Isles.
DevilMinder
As much as I like JVB's ownership tenure this is starting to feel like watching an underwater homeowner try all the tricks in the book to justify his continued ownership. What is JVB's wealth anyway? Can he truly compete with billionaires and their backing abilities?
oofrostonoo
Hopefully the Devils/Arena are too big to fail!
Jerrydevil
Nice job on the old Wendy's Mike Richter commercial, Justdo.
devilsrule33
The guy grew up and lives in the area, so I don't think he'd be looking to move the team. Interesting that he was also rumored to be a purchaser of the Isles. He was very close to buying the Senators before Melnyk bought the team in 2003 or so. Didn't know he had a piece of Wendy's. At the time it was Arby's and Snapple.
Jerzey
Wendy's is a New Jersey born company. I doubt this guy would move the team if he bought it.
sundstrom
the value is in the TV deal and the arena - it makes no sense to buy this team to move it - the cost to move it would be astronomical. not to mention that you have to have a place to move it to. nobody is buying this team and paying to move it to KC where it won't make the revenue it could make here. Colin226
Oh look.. Another article from our buddy The Post.. While I refuse to believe anything they say until a reliable source confirms, I would definitely be happy with a billionaire owning the team over a 400 - 600 millionaire that's for sure.
EdgeControl
I cant tell the difference between the new big and juicy and the old burger. anyway I think this is good news, as hillary said, "it takes a billionare" DID YOU HEAR THAT ZACH?!?! devlman
Seems like a win-win. We either have JVB restructure the debt or a multibillionaire who loves hockey step in and wipe our debt clean alltogether. I like what JVB has done for us but Nelson Peltz has much deeper pockets. Ideally, maybe Peltz takes over and JVB stays on as a minority owner.

maxpower
I don't understand where the moving thing comes from, it makes absolutely no sense. The situation here is basically a scam against the leaseholder, + a $25M subsidy from Dolan per year, who on earth would actually spend the huge amount of money to buy them out of debt and move them? And why would the leaseholder allow it, because an arena doing 50-75 dates a year does fvck all for them. Oh, and the Post.
sammyk
Wendy's is a New Jersey born company. I doubt this guy would move the team if he bought it. Pretty sure it was founded in Ohio... Anyways, didn't this guy also try to but the Islanders?

It's Dave Thomas who was from Jersey. I must have remembered that wrong.

NewarkDevil5
As long as the new ownership maintains it's commitment to New Jersey in general and Newark in particular, I have no problem at all with this. I'd love to see a Wendy's in the Prudential Center as a concessions option. It'd also open the door to more hockey-related Wendy's promotion in general which helps the league in general and would help the Devils assuming that guys like Ilya Kovalchuk would be involved in those promos.
