What happened with his father?

I wrote a huge post about what happened earlier this year and I will dig through in a little bit to see if I can just cut and paste there. It was the same day where I swore off the $10 line forever.

Update- Found it and here is a copy and past below

We were inside the box office at around 5:45-6PM at the Will-Call window talking to the box office manager about the line when during it a guy approached the next window next to us. He kinda looked like Lou but a lot stockier. So he goes up to the window and when the woman there asks his name he says Avery. My gf was still talking to the guy at the window but the rest of the group I was with heard it and my best friend even quietly asked me if I think that is his dad or something. I told him I do not know. In our group was a couple of guys we befriended outside, one a Rags fan and one a Devils fan and were about our age. Well the guys behind us heard him too and just said to his friend (but in a fairly loud voice) "Sean Avery is a prick." Well the guy then turns around and goes up to him and says "Why did you have to call my son a prick? You could say he sucks, or his team sucks, but you do you have to call him a prick in front of me?" He then says to him "You have a smart mouth" and then walks away (I guess to the bathroom?) While he was gone another guy in Avery's dad;s party says to him something along the lines of "not a smart move and watch out." Sean's dad then comes back and tells him something like "if this was a few years ago, I would have broken you in half." He then proceeded to threaten the guy with physical harm for another few more seconds before finally walking away and was greeted down with a Devil's rep for what I assumed to be escorting him to his seats.

Don't you have some silly fayne bashing to do?

Please tell me one instance or example of a play that Avery did that was dirtier than what lemieux has done. Your attempt of passing it off as lemieux doing it in a different era is laughable. A dirty play then is a dirty play now.

And finally if you guys even read my posts I will say it for the last time. Yes lemieux is a far better hockey player in terms of skill. I hope you will all now get your fan hats off finally as well as this obsession with Avery. I swear Avery brig sent down was bigger news with devils fans than rags fans.

Whatever, man

If Avery had won a Conn Smythe (or anything for that matter) or put up 40 goals in a season, like Claude, that would be one thing. (Chara did much worse on Pacceritti than anything Claude ever did). However, Avery's whole game was (I'm deliberately using past tense) being a clown. His act eventually wears thin even with his teammates.

'nuff said.

No problem and yeah the guy shouldn't have said Avery sucks to him, but his dad shouldn't have gone after him the way he did. I mean he is going to go into an arena where most of the crowd will be chanting "Avery sucks" anyways. What was he going to do then? Fight tens of thousands of people?

The difference between Avery's father and myself is I WOULD have pummeled the person that said that unprovoked.

What kind of a tool bag says that to a player's family?

But again he was about to enter an arena where 15,000 fans will chant the same thing to him. Was he supposed to fight all of them too?

I am not excusing either person's behavior in this and both acted poorly. But being older than the kid he should have just ignored that crap and just kept on going to what he was doing, not threatening to break him in half. He could have been the bigger man but instead he ended up looking like a crazed nut.

Do you physically fight or threaten to fight every person who says something like that to you?

I agree.

Well... I'm sure I wouldn't have actually started a physical altercation, but the description here of his response strikes me as measured and controlled. I'm sure it wasn't the first incident that he's had to deal with. Far from the intended "that guy sure is a jerk" intended message here, this gave me some respect for the guy.

Imagine the fun he could have w/ Lunquist...

We need someone to create havoc, take away the goalies and the Devs are much much better than the Rags... but Lundquist is 3x the net minder marty is now... devs need to do watever it takes to win, and right now Lunquist is in the way so give avery a try for the league minimum...

I seem to recall him banging the back of Tim Thomas's head at the end of the period when play had stopped...then when the Bruins player jumped his a$$..was like...I didn't do anything.

He mentioned his last name to the will call employee, not to 15,000 Devil fans, your friend overhears and then verbally assaults his son.

And yes, if someone says that to me about either of my sons, I would assault them.

so give avery a try for the league minimum...

He's making $3 million per season right now.

That means if someone picks him up on wavers they'll own him ~$1.8 mil, and it'd take that $1.8 off of the Rangers books.

Is this really so hard for people to grasp? Really?

sheesh!

I don't want Avery, and I'm thankful we had Lemieux, but we have some ridiculous blinders. Lemieux admitted he was an agintator. He knew he stayed in the league partially because he pissed off other guys, much like Avery. Lemieux had 10 times the talent, quite a few more cups, and a Conn Smythe Avery will never sniff, but there is no question that Avery rode his coattails, along with any number of other pests, including Fleury. That Avery's career is ending earlier with much less success is a testament to the fact that he had NOTHING else (except when he rode Shanny's coattails), but it's dumb to suggest that Lemieux was a cleaner player, more valuable or not. He was just OUR pest.

Father first, cop second.

Douche

Anger management first, and laying off the sh!tty homemade beer second.

Also if you actually read the story the guy wasn't my friend, he was a guy I met that day in line.

Finally saying Avery sucks constitutes verbal assault? If so then I guess I've been victim of verbal assault in person and should report it and fight everyone who dares say that I might suck. What hyperbole.

Tapping the back of a goalies head is one thing, and checkig a helpless player from behind into the boards causing massive facial damaged and multiple surgeries with months of recovery to fix is another.

Clarkson does a decent job of being an agitator.

Are you seriously that dense?

Your "guy you met in line" hears a stranger at the will call window talking to SOMEONE ELSE and says his name is Avery, and your "guy you met in line", unprovoked tells this older fellow his son is a "prick".

Do you have kids? I doubt it by your cavalier attitude of what's acceptable to call someone's child right to their face. He should have punched that guys lights out. And you "guy you met in line" would have been the one ejected, rightly so.

Verbally assaults? hahaha gime a break! A couple of fans, in THEIR building, before a game against their most hated rival say out loud that your son, a professional hockey player who is the donkey's ass of the league, sucks would make you think it's reasonable to assault those fans?? Would you have been expecting polite commentary on your son's hockey skills? Anger management is clearly needed.

As a father myself, i understand where you are coming from. However, the smart thing to do is drop the dumb ass macho cop act and realize you do no good to your kid(s) assulting a stranger over a word(s) spoken. What good are you when you assault someone and blow your generous tax payer pension and have your badge on someone's desk as a souvenir?

But, i know what a hard-on you are anyway from the politics section. You probably would assault a person then flash your badge at them and then claim self-defense and get away with it.

Don't even bother with this clown. Read his various musings and thoughts in the politics section over the years. Then just think he's out there with his attitudes and views looking out for the public good on your tax money.

You nailed it......lol

And thank you for my generous pension.

Yeah, I'm always throwing around what a macho cop I am. Cite me one example. Or are you just making that up because of my politics? Because there are so many times I've written how I've assaulted people for the hell of it and just tinned my way out of it..........
