Elias Sports Bureau
U.S. with the 1-0 lead in the first on Dustin Brown's goal from Matt Cullen. Tivo took a slashing penalty earlier in the period, but Battaglia negated it with a roughing. Conklin in net for U.S.; Sokolov for Russia. I'm not sure it was ever mentioned yesterday in this forum, but Nieds scored in Canada's 2-0 win over Latvia. Luongo with the shutout. Here's the description of his goal: Scott Niedermayer increased Canada's lead to 2-0 with a pretty power play goal at 1:38 of the middle stanza, pinching in to accept a Glen Murray pass from behind the net and laying a subtle deke on Naumovs before sliding the disc around him. Elias Sports Bureau
The demon, Yushkevich, just tied it up in the second. And then he, Zelepukin, Westrum and Mara all promptly took roughings. Edited May 1, 2004 by Elias Sports Bureau
