Oh, please. Zach wasn't Dano or Stevens. He was a good Devils and he is a talented player, but who cares? He's gone, that's that.

I don't like to see Bernier of all people wearing #18 that Sarge wore, but he does.

he was the best player on the team for about 6 years. he wasnt just a "good devil". reguardless it blows seeing a minor leaguer skating around with the number

No one is bigger than the team. He chose to leave, the Devils chose to give his number away. He probably could've made sure no one ever wore it again if he stayed. Personally, I'm glad they gave it away to the first person they signed after he left.

Dunno about depressing but boy they don't waste any time reassigning numbers.

"No pressure kid but here's #9 for you to wear."

He is probably more excited about playing at the NHL level and could give a rats ass about what number they gave him.

This is again the perfect example of an issue that is created purely in the minds of a teams fanbase.

Parise is gonna be very average when he loses his step. so y do people care. you wanna pay him a little below 100 million and take that 7 million dollar cap hit for guy who isn't gonna be that good in 3-4 years? blessing in disguise

funny kinda like when kovi loses a step? of course when a player loses a step he's not going to be as productive jesus christ. i said its depressing some bum is wearing parises number NOT i think no one should be allowed to wear his number.

Kovy lost a step in last year's playoffs (in a manner of speaking) and was still effective. Of course it would help if he wasn't playing top defenseman minutes out there.

And funny how quick people forget Lou couldn't wait to put 15 on someone else after MacLean left, and he was actually a guy you could make a case should have had the number retired, unlike the guy who walked out on a Finals team.

And the Devils go on the penalty kill for a useless fight. Barch is fvcking just as useless as Janssen.

Unlike 17 his play won't drop off over the next 10+ years?
