what the hell does that mean !?! so stuff can actually leak out of Lou's hands now ? unreal.

Looks like it leaked from Jagr's Czech connections. Lou probably wasn't super happy about it, but in the age of social media it's going to be nearly impossible to keep secrets like he once did. Of course, Schneider was still a great secret, so he can pull it off when the other party is willing to play along.

Now can someone explain to me how the bonuses work? Do they count against the cap or not? I've heard several things such as:

.yes the do count against the cap regardless of whether the players get the bonus or not

.the player has to fulfill the requirement of the bonus for it to count against the cap

.Bonuses count but don't count against ur cap at the end of the year.

Performance Bonus Cushions will be in place for every year of the CBA. A bonus cushion allows teams to temporarily exceed the cap because of player bonuses. Many bonuses are never earned and therefore never hit the cap, effectively reducing the player’s cap hit. If after the season a team is over the cap because of bonuses, they will receive a bonus overage penalty the following season. The bonus cushion is also the reason Brayden Schenn “had” (I use that term loosely because he didn’t literally have to, but it was the smart decision based on his bonuses) to begin the season in the AHL last year.

and here's another article about those bonus

So in reality, if the Devils stay under the cap this year (with Jagr's $4 million total compensation), the whole cap hit will be in 2013-14.  If they go over the cap, they can get charged a portion or all of the $2 million next year for Jagr's bonus instead.

Not the worst stop-gap option, and the contract itself is fair.  Hopefully we can get 50-60 points out of Jagr and, in the wirst case scenario, he can bring back a high draft pick at hte trade deadline if we are out of playoff contention.

I'm happy that they aren't forced to rush a young guy like Boucher up to fill a hole.  Plus, it gives Matteau time to mature and develop in the AHL for a season, which he needs IMO.

Wow look at all those RFAs/UFAs for next offseason. It'll be a busy summer a year from now, too.

Next offseason is a crossraods for this organization.  Could be an offseason where we have a ton of cap space and cash to spend on some big name FA's, or one where we begin the transition with the younger players (which will likely lead us to the Connor McDavid sweepstakes, rather than a chase for the Cup).

At some point, this team needs to get younger and faster.  With Brodeur likely gone, I personally think that next offseason is the beginning of the full rebuild of this roster.

Supposedly, the guys on Sirius XM ruined the Jagr conference call. Their feed was playing over the line while he was trying to talk over them, he had to practically scream and eventually, the conference call was ended (presumably by his agent).
