I agree the song sucks, but it's disgusting listening to our own goals being booed. Ya but our fanbase now has the balls to boo our own team's goals. There was a billion protests, t-shirts and other crap the last time which is why they brought it back. Booing the first time when you realize the shock of them changing the song (and to something utterly stupid and uninspiring) is one thing. Booing the rest of the times is just being a d**k. I'd be all for that at this point...but of course then the crowd would start chanting 'you suck' and it would sort of defeat the purpose of not having a song. This whole thing is stupid because the minority group of people who don't like the you suck chant choose to bitch and moan. If you don't like it then don't chant it, why is that so hard to follow? There was no crazy response the first time RR2 was replaced. People were disappointed, but not like this. It was clearly a favourite for the fans to chant. I think the team would want the fans input into a new song, but they knew this backlash was coming, so there was no point in even asking fans what they want. Since it seems it's back to the drawing board....what about the song the players came out to tonight (Light Em Up)? The sound and the lyrics make sense for a goal song. And like max said, they're picking the wrong fight at the wrong time. Still doesn't give the fans license to do what they did tonight, that was the equivalent of a five-year old throwing a tantrum. They might as well just do the Carolina random noise song if they aren't going to give you something with a beat. And might I add, this is on top of telling STH they can only re-sell their tickets so much before getting tagged. Don't think I'd ever heard the whole song before. I don't think there is a fanbase that as ever cared more about a goal song than Devils fans. Not saying that is a bad thing at all, but just a fact. You're lucky cause the actual song is just boring and repetitive imo. First time I heard it on the radio I changed the station and can't get away from that song since. Nice hook, but just nails on a chalkboard anoying. First time the song was changed cause of the child porn charges or allegations with Garry Glitter. If you can bring a song back from an artist acused of being a pedophile, heaing a crowd chat you suck isn't nearly as bad. My biggest gripe with the song is that it sounds way to close to the rangers song. That was my first though when I heard it the other day, was the first comment from my friend sitting next to me. If you are going to change it, it better be good. I personally think Fandango's entrance from wwe would be a great choice. I have never seen a wrestlers entrance be more popular then the actual wrestler. any anyone with half a brain knows they were booing the song and not the goal, 2nd goal you heard the cheers until the song came on. If you think its embarrassing fro this fanbase, you don't know this fanbase. Where's the clip of gary thorne coming out of commercial on our first cup run hearing the sucks chant on the starting lineup(and what happend to swallows for the goalie? That stuck in the caa still?) If it's one thing this fanbase is known for, it's booing. You can take almost any song and add a you suck or rangers suck to it. Usually a game we play while getting bombarded with non stop noise and distractions while the game isn't playing. And how long before the hells bell gong goes off after announcing a goal will start a chant? 3 more games? I don't think it could've been more obvious that it was THE SONG being booed and not the team. When the goal scorers were announced, everyone cheered loudly as usual, it was just booing at the end of the song. A sh!tty song got booed and deservedly so. Nothing more, nothing less.
