I did notice that after the announcement, the bell sounded

I actually liked that a lot. Thought it was a cool little addition.

didn't they do it in pre season?  I went to the first game and thought I heard that crap song.

And for someone who said earlier in the thread why so much emotion over a simple song, you sure have posted a bunch in this thread, I'm truly trying to figure out if you are just trolling at this point, especially since you seem to be all over the place with your arguments, keep saying things that were shown not to be true in earlier posts.  I'm not even sure if you know your exact point at this moment cause you are all over the place.

Did they play it?  I didn't watch any preseason games.

Wish I didn't read the Facebook page. You have fans saying they'd rather lose than here the song. Fans saying they won't go back to games and will mute games when they watch at home. Fans saying they won't get seasons tickets. Guess you can't argue with the passion of some fans. That's one thing.

I think this is exactly why letting fans decide a new song was never going to work. They wouldn't get over the fact the song is changing to take part in a new song contest.

this song needs to change, i haven't heard of anyone in the fanbase who likes it, and the hockey fans and media make fun of it. no upside whatsoever, i know they changed the song because they are against the suck chant, so they should at least have options we can choose from.

They should have just used "Stronger Than the Storm."  I mean who doesn't love that song?

bahaa! im here with you on this. we should all just write them letters letting them know were unhappy about this and that we are demanding to switch it back.. one person types up the letter and everyone prints it out at home, signs it and mails it straight to the devils

That Facebook page is just..it's beyond frustration. It's just the stupidest our fanbase has to offer, concentrated in one place. Id advise you to unsub from it ASAP in all honesty, there's no good discussion to be had.

Just the worst, honestly.

FWIW..last night they played the Beastie Boys "You Gotta Fight" during an extended timeout and the place was rocking with it--people singing along even after it stopped.   Not sure what licks to use, but that's something that was spontaneous that could have legs.

I would like to point out that the line "your mom threw away your best porno mag" greatly offended me since I had several porno mags confiscated from me in my youth.  Also, fans of other teams may not find it classy enough and that is how we should judge our goal song.

I'll see which Beethoven songs fit best...

We play Blurred Lines. A song which is pretty much about having your way forcibly with a woman.

We play You Gotta Fight...which has the porno line.

We play that Icona Pop song which has the lyric: "You're from the 70s but I'm a 90s bitch"

Those are all OK but "Hey You Suck" must be censored at all costs. I just... I don't even know where to begin. It's a major hypocricy if we are playing songs that are just as bad (harmless really) as the goal song.

Again, it has nothing to do with profanity or obscenity.

I think at this point, if you need to ask, you'll never know.

Oh so it has to do with being down a few goals right? Ok so as said NUMEROUS TIMES chanting "This Is Our House" being down 4-2 provides the same result with an annoyed crowd.

Or does it have to do with the fact that a select few are "embarrassed". Well sorry yelling at hockey games is embarrassing to you.

It's embarrassing the same way that a John Sterling canned homerun call is embarrassing. Both the you suck chanters and Sterling are trying to be clever, when in actuality they're just being infantile and insecure.

It's just as stupid as dumb Ranger fans with the Potvin sucks chant. Basically Ranger fans are willingly reliving a time when the Isles were eating their lunch, just so they can think everyone else in the world thinks they're clever and have "traditions".

That Devils fans mimic it with random Ranger suck Flyers swallow chants is even worse. The Rangers suck so much, that some Devils fans try to copy everything their idiotic fans do.

Don't get me wrong there is always a time and a place for trying to get under the visiting team's skin and mocking them. It has absolutely no effect though when it's done just as a matter of course.

More infantile and insecure than worrying about what other people chant? If you don't like it, don't chant it. I don't chant any of that stuff because I don't like it. But i don't see the point in being a fun Nazi to people enjoying themselves. It's a hockey game, not the 3 Tenors.
