Buffalo makes both Ott and Vanek Captain

It might be a better idea if Vanek wears the "C" when the puck is on the left side of the ice and Ott when the puck is on the right. This would give each player their own niche area of leadership.

Your keeper logo and sig make me sad.

IMO this isn't a terrible idea IN THEORY, and isn't that different from the times we carried a ton of As and no C. The reasoning, though, is ridiculous. If Ott took it from Vanek, give it to him, but it looks more like they're grooming Ott to take over when they inevitably suck, trade their franchise player and goalie, and go into full rebuilding mode. Not exactly a vote of confidence for a team that actually might not be that bad, at least in terms of talent.

What the hell is going on in Buffalo, honestly.

They're committed to a full rebuild. With impending FA's Vanek and Miller certain to leave, that allows teflon GM Regier time to sell. It'll be interesting to see when he pulls the plug. They got a point last night losing to the Bolts in overtime. For the most part, the Sabres boast a young roster with Ristolainen and Johan Larsson playing. Plus Grigorenko in Year 2. It depends on the development of kids. Plus Ennis, Foligno and other picks that are in junior, etc. Enroth is the backup with Matt Hackett coming over from the Wild as part of the Pominville deal. So, eventually they should be okay in net post-Miller.

The problem is they handed out some awful contracts (Ehrhoff, Myers, Leino, Stafford). Unless Myers turns it around and Stafford becomes more consistent, they're looking at a brutal year. Brian could get his wish.
