thecoffeecake
Wasn't he expected to be an eventual NHLer when he was first coming in, or am I mistaken?

Sneax
If a trade is happening, its more than likley Kinkaid + Fayne + Yayo or something. No one wants marty.
MadDog2020
Rich Chere @Ledger_NJDevils Goalie Maxime Clermont goes from Elmira to Florida (ECHL) with recall to Albany (AHL) in between for technical reasons

thelastonealive
He winds up in Orlando with the old Trenton Titans coach and some of the Titans players from last year. Weird because he wasn't playing for the Titans last year that I recall, I think he's always been in Elmira. Wonder what the reasoning is in putting him with the Solar Bears. My guess is the Solar Bears needed goalie help for an injury, or the Devils thought he could get more playing time there maybe.

thelastonealive
Florida & Orlando are two separate teams Yeah, Chere mis-reported it as Florida at first. It's Orlando though, per TG and other sources.
thecoffeecake
Can anyone comment on what his expected potential was initially? Obviously now he's pretty lousy, but for some reason I thought it was expected he would be something in the NHL.
thelastonealive
I don't know how high we has projected, but he was drafted in the same draft as Wedgewood, a few rounds after. So I don't imagine he was ever expected to amount to too much.

I don't think anyone was expecting a 6th rounder to make it too far.

It's pretty rare for goalies to get drafted in higher rounds simply because forwards and defensemen are more valuable than goalies. So draft position for goalies doesn't mean a whole lot. dmann422
You never know with goalies. They're such a crapshoot, lol you say this here but in the Marty thread you say "Kinkaid is going to be solid" as if it's a given...How can you say that if goalies are such crapshoots? One that is expected to be a great goalie may be drafted earlier and one that's not like say, Clermont, is drafted in the 6th.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Since when is it rare for a goalie to be drafted in higher rounds? Goalies are spread pretty evenly throughout every draft. One that is expected to be a great goalie may be drafted earlier and one that's not like say, Clermont, is drafted in the 6th. Two goalies taken in the first round and two more in the second in 2010, three taken in the second round in 2011, two taken in the first round and two more in the second in 2012, four taken in the second round in 2013. By my math, that's 15 goalies drafted in the top two rounds the past four drafts...yep, sounds pretty rare to me. Mike, think maybe you could curb your urge to post incessantly by actually doing just the slightest bit of research before posting? I dug this up in about 5 minutes, tops. Sneax
I just think we should talk about the fact that he thinks goalies aren't that important. Goalie is one of the most important positions, if not the most important. What bad goalies are winning Stanley Cups? I imagine not a whole fvcking lot.
