Neb00rs
I say they go 1-1-1. They'll go something like 4-3-2 over the next 9. This. 2-1-0 and 5-2-2 would be a pleasant surprise. Edited March 28, 2014 by Neb00rs
Colorado Rockies 1976
This. 2-1-0 and 5-3-1 would be a pleasant surprise. They're 9-9-3 in their last 21. I just can't make any case for them doing much better than that in the next 9. The record so reflects what they've been. The cat trying to get up the slide says it all. Satans Hockey
It doesn't even matter what they do the rest of the season. There are 4 teams with 80 points battling for the last 2 wild card spots. There is no chance in hell 3 of those teams all go on a slump at the same time while we try to win 9 in a row. Season is over and it has been for awhile now. This season can't end soon enough. NJDevils1214
Another shootout loss tonight. Getting rather predictable. Elias needs to go out of his comfort zone and get a new move, that one hasn't worked in a while.

BlueSkirt
I'm in the pro-Schneider camp but it's only fair to give Brodeur some praise after a game like this. Sure the 1st goal was bad but there was not much he could do on the 2nd one and he kept them in it when they needed him to make saves. Good on him. Fortunately for me, I can't get worked up over the shootout. What are the Devils now in shootout attempts dating back to last season? 1 for ??? Genuinely curious. Just think ahead to how great we'll be in the shootout next season ! Law of Averages, ya know
Colorado Rockies 1976
Just think ahead to how great we'll be in the shootout next season ! Law of Averages, ya know To use one of SD's relationship/girl examples: It's like you've been dating an amazing woman for 7 or 8 years, where it seems like everything is going almost perfectly during that entire time...no matter what you do, where you go, it's nothing but pure joy and bliss almost every minute. Then, one random Sunday morning after yet another awesome night, you wake up early, kiss her on the forehead, and tell her "I'm running out for bagels. Be back in about 20." She smiles that smile you've seen so many times before, and it warms you up instantly. The bagel shop is very busy, so you're gone for more like 40 minutes. You call your sig other just to let her know you'll be running late, but she doesn't pick up. No big, she's probably figured out that you were going take longer than 20 minutes and decided to jump in the shower. The intoxicatingly lovely smell of freshly-baked bagel overtakes your car, as orange slivers of morning sunlight illuminate random areas of your car's interior. Now you hit some unexpected traffic on the way back. Another courtesy "running late" phone call. Still no answer. Maybe she's on the pot? You did have one hell of a scrumptous (and rather filling) dinner last night. And an even better dessert. About a mile or so away from your home, you notice a large moving truck on a semi-collision course with you that seems to be in one hell of a hurry. As you swerve to avoid it, you think "Geez, what the hell, what's the friggin' rush?" You finally get home...only to see that the door has been left open. You fly out of your car, engine still running, and charge into the house. Everything is gone. Everything. You scream out your sig's name, but she doesn't answer. Were you just robbed? Was she kidnapped? You are frantically tryin to decide what to do next, but then you see the note on the now-bare kitchen counter. It is folded neatly and has your name on it. The note is from her, and what it says in far more words than it really needs to do is that she's done with you and that it's completely over, and somehow that translates into her taking every last thing you could've sworn you both acquired together. The seemingly perfect memories of how wonderful things were now rewind, pause, and play at painfully slow-motion repetition, like a taunting VCR from hell, and you're powerless to hit the power button. As you collapse onto the now-bare kitchen floor as the tears begin to congeal and spill down your face, all you can do is wonder how the fvck everything that was so damned good could turn so damned bad in the space of what seems like one damned eye-blink. Welcome to the world of New Jersey Devils shootouts. Edited March 28, 2014 by Colorado Rockies 1976
SterioDesign
Great story really but that's not really what happened haha I dont think anyone here really wonder why we suck in SO now... Kovalchuk and Zach are gone and they were scoring almost every time. And im pretty sure we lost every single SO where Kovy missed... beyond those 2 even when we were great it was really hit or miss. Even Clarkson was in our top 5 with one SO move so that tells ya our skills level even back then.
Mike Brown
One point is better than zero. I guess. Yep. And we came back from a 2-0 deficit. It was a well earned point imo. Phoenix is a hot team right now, so getting them to OT is nothing to be ashamed of.
2ELIAS6
what does it really matter if they got a point last night or not.. either way theyre screwed with anything less than 2 and they were screwed pretty much even if they had gotten the second point last night anyway. SD, it'd be one thing to be mediocre (think 4-5) or even pretty bad at them at this point (3-6 or 2-7), but this is an insane level of sucktitude. They don't just lose. They NEVER score in them anymore. EVER!
Mike Brown
Kovy and Zach leaving doesn't explain why Elias and Clowe stopped being good in shootouts. Elias and Clowe used to be very good in shootouts, now they suck. It just goes to show how much of a crapshoot shootouts really are. With the snap of a finger, teams and players can go from being dominant in shootouts to being non-existent in shootouts.
Chimaira_Devil_#9
We didnt deserve to lose that game. We had so many more chances, and good chances at that.
Mike Brown
We didnt deserve to lose that game. We had so many more chances, and good chances at that. Yep exactly. We outplayed them in the 2nd and 3rd periods for sure. Unfortunately, there have been many games like that this year. I personally believe the number of games "we deserved to win but lost" exceeds the number of games "we deserved to lose but won". But in the end you ultimately deserve the outcome you get. Elias would score sliding the puck under the goalies pads juuusssttt enough (since he never ever lift it). Plus they had way less pressure since Kovy would score 95% of the time on the first shot. Confidence is a big thing and this team is obviously shot

You have to stop harping on the 11-12 year because everything basically broke right in the shootout. Why was Kovy crap the next year if he had some insane skill in them?
