Derlique 582
Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers 29m BREAKING: The #Flyers have acquired R.J. Umberger in exchange for Scott Hartnell. Details → http://nhlflye.rs/1l3PVsY pic.twitter.com/E1setFk2yr The **** is Hextall doing? I understand Hartnell is signed for a long time, but he is a decent player. I have no idea how Kekalainen gets this sort of return when he said he would buy-out Umberger if he couldn't find a trade. Very baffling for the Flyers
MadDog2020 9,045
Chris Johnston @reporterchris: The #CBJ likely would have used a compliance buyout on R.J. Umberger by June 30. Instead they turned him into Scott Hartnell.
NJDevils1214 3,170
Philly, at it again.
coldply123 13
Hextall pulls a Holmgren move. Only saves two years off the back end of the deals. Kind of a lateral move, might be to shake up the forwards a bit as Hartnell has been there for a while. I think Umberger could play center a bit if he had too. Good move by CBJ. I wonder if this means they won't bid on a guy like Callahan anymore.
Devils Pride 26 321
Hartnell steal Hextall's tin or something? This is a strange one.
CarpathianForest 454
Second go around for Umberger in PHI. Only thing I remember about him then was when Brian Campbell clobbered him in the playoffs.
hystyk28 22
This reeks of a bigger move.
Onddeck 71
This reeks of a bigger move. ew i hope not. theres nothing worse than when a rival like the flyers are getting better when you're standing still
The 29th Pick 21
This reeks of a bigger move. yeah it does
devilsrule33 189
Not sure how this reeks of a bigger move. It reeks of a terrible trade by the Flyers.
Daniel 1,653
Not sure how this reeks of a bigger move. It reeks of a terrible trade by the Flyers. If anything it reeks of a long term contract for someone else.
caron14 51
Lol common Lou trade with hextall! Josefson + Ryder vs Giroux!!!!
Chuck the Duck 394
Gotta give Columbus credit for turning a likely compliance buyout into a servicable (yet overpaid) player like Hartnell. They must see how weak the East was this year with the run the Rags made so they went out and made a deal for the near term figuring that they aren't that far away from competing with the rest of the teams in the East with the young talent and goaltending in their lineup. CarpathianForest 454
I have a feeling CBJ is going to be an even bigger thorn in our side this season
Zubie#8 193
Strange move by them, I get that he's on a long contract considering his age but damn he is the definition of a Flyer.
Triumph 1,415
It turns out that Hartnell requested a trade, so that may have changed things - still, Umberger's deal is easier to buy out than Hartnell's, but that and Umberger's supposed versatility is about the only thing that makes him close to the value of Hartnell. Umberger is really not good at this point.
RizzMB30 142
CBJ is going to be a playoff team again as long as Bobrovsky plays well. They have a ton of ex-Flyers there now too.

Devils Pride 26 321
Was it Carter who was banging Hartnell's wife or Richards? Who dun it this time?
CarpathianForest 454
Was it Carter who was banging Hartnell's wife or Richards? Who dun it this time? It was Carter I think. There was one of those NHL episode profiles on NHL Network on Hartnell. Hartnell's wife was in it. I think she was working at the Gap or some sh!t when he met her. DJ Eco 494
Wow the Flyers are dumb.
Triumph 1,415
Was it Carter who was banging Hartnell's wife or Richards? Who dun it this time? I mean, almost certainly it was neither, but the rumor is that Carter was doing it. Or Ted Nolan.
Derlique 582
I thought it ended up being Mike Richards' brother
CarpathianForest 454
I was banging her. Too bad Hartnell peaked. If we drafted Brendan Lemieux, a line with Lemieux, Matteau and Hartnell would be tops.
