2014 UFA Signing Thread

Good for Fayne. He was a nobody 4 years ago. The Devils sucked and he got a chance to play and now he's got a multiyear multimillion dollar deal.

Agreed.  I was a huge Fayne fan.  He's proven he's belongs in the NHL and now has a chance to prove he's a top 4 dman on an up and coming team.  I hope he continues to excel.  I wanted him in SJ but think this is a better spot for him.

The way the Devils compete for free agents when we're not a surefire contender is by overpaying in years.

I don't like the Cammelleri deal either, but its been like this a few years now. As long there's no NTC/NMC and he performs, we'll get over it.

Gotta pay to play on UFA Day :D

It's a year or two longer than what would be ideal but Cammy is a scorer who can fill out our top 6.  he's also known as a workout warrior so he shouldn't fall off a cliff too quickly.   5 million isn't a killer when addressing your top 6, making a trade for Ruutu or signing defensive defenseman to the contracts Lou has in the past few years is.

Boyle wasn't that good in SJ last year after suffering his concussion.  He's probably got another two years in him, especially if he's protected as a PP specialist.  Given the minimal size/term of the contract, this will probably be a fine signing for the Rangers especially cause their PP has been a struggle.

That Bolland deal is the first really bad contract.  I've yet to see a deal that really shocked me though (other than Erhoff in the opposite direction).
