Vic Rattlehead18 43
Isn't he best friends with Elias too? Or is that Broduer?
njd3b1ink 28
1 year, 1.5m.
Elias26 1
I have been calling this for years & it finally happened. Low risk I guess.

DJ Eco 494
Can't beat that contract, that's goon money (Tanner Glass in NYR money haha)... Good signing.
halfsharkalligatorhalfman 25
Smart signing. I hope Havlat gets healthy and turns it around. The skill is still there in bursts.
coldply123 13
Low risk. With Jagr and Elias here there is reward. He wanted out of SJ but Wilson made him suffer for his money. No excuses for Deboer next year. A playoff miss and he needs to go.
njdevs89 0
Welcome to the National Czech team Havlat
Onddeck 71
low risk high reward, i like it. that leaves us with 5 mill left. hopfully resigning Schneids, Carter, and maybe another addition?
Namelesz 3
Would this have been an even better signing had they gone after Hemsky as well? Team Czech!!!! lol
Jas0nMacIsaac 92
No risk here, he is has a good year he has pretty damn good value at the TDD.
elias2600 3
low risk, the only downside is that he takes a roster spot from someone else like a boucher or matteau. However, those kids need to earn that spot (so does havlat), so not a major deal. hopefully he can play at least 2/3 of the seasons games.
ghdi 65
I like it. If he breaks, it doesnt hurt us in the long run. Im rooting for the guy, always liked him. I also think its funny how both of our "bigger" named signings have their names misspelled in their thread titles lol Edited July 1, 2014 by ghdi
William D'Aquila 14
Something very important everyone needs to realize. If you guys remember Gaborik had a lot of groin issues and surgeries along with pelvic issues. Once he had surgery on his pelvic region, Gaborik no longer suffered from his groin problems. I would not be surprised if Havlat suffered from a similar issue.

Mike Brown 186
Depth move. Maybe he and Elias can find something together. Low risk, high reward deal.
msweet 140
The Devils continued to add depth up front by signing right wing Martin Havlat to a one-year, $1.5 million contract. Havlat, 33, had 12 goals and 10 assists in 48 games with San Jose last season. He was due to make $6 million in 2014-15 before the Sharks bought him out over the weekend, making him an unrestricted free agents. Havlat is good friends with longtime Devil Patrik Elias (and they have the same agent). Elias was happy to hear his good buddy would be joining him in New Jersey. “Hope he can be the player that he was and I believe I can help him do that,” Elias said via text. - See more at: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/fireice/devils_sign_martin_havlat_to_one-year._1.5_million_contract/#sthash.ToTIjwR9.dpuf
Neb00rs 2,944
Havlat is 33 and we have him on a one year deal. He's young enough where he can still turn it around and if he doesn't he's not stuck to us.
2ELIAS6 260
this seems like a good signing.. if it doesnt work out as already said hes not anchored here
ThreeCups 19
Like the move Low risk with high upside Maybe he will be revitalized here with the other Czechs, and on a team looking for redemption from a sh!tshow of a season...
