Brian Gibbons on waivers. Solid player. I forget waiver rules, does he have to stay on the roster for 30 days if claimed?

No, but the Devils aren't going to take him anyway, they have a full roster.  Rule is that if you take him off your roster you expose him to waivers and the original team has the first shot at reclaiming.

I remember for last year and year before a few buddies of mine who are Rags fans who used to make fun of the fact that Devils had deals on Groupon and Living Social.  They said we had to use them because we couldn't sell tickets.

I wonder how they will explain this then

Twitter is even funnier, I have a Rangers fan friend who keeps RT-ing all the bitter Rags fans comments:

And people paid hundreds of dollars for tickets these past two games. I was in the City right before home opener and this couple from Jersey were looking for parking, and said after tolls, tickets, and cheap food, not even drinks, the day was costing them $600. And then they go there and see a 6-3 game?

I was very blunt, like, "Honestly, you guys don't seem too diehard (they weren't). Why don't you just follow the Devils? It's cheaper, closer to you, etc.", I wasn't even trying to be a d-bag, but they literally had no reason; they weren't long-time fans, they weren't super diehards. I guess it's just that "New York aura" they're able to carry, and they can fool 17,000 tourists into spending hundreds of dollars for 41 games by being in Midtown, it's really as simple as that. Their season ticket numbers are obviously going down, or if they're not going down, the types of season ticket holders they have are changing pretty drastically.

It was pretty "suity" 5-10 years ago but it has gone way off the deep end the past few years with the renovation. The whole experience is just super mega corporate, they really don't give a rat's ass about their real fans.

The atmosphere in that building is a joke, it's pretty much no more than another Midtown tourist attraction.

Bright lights brah. Hustle and bustle brah. World's most famous arena brah. Lmfao fvcking losers.

And what's best is I didn't hear any of that crap out of the MSG crowd the past couple years. I've barely gotten heckled, the atmosphere in that building is mostly "indifference". Like I said, a lot of tourists and casual people "ending up at" a hockey game; probably deals at hotels or guide books, etc...

And what's best is the people that say all that crap are the losers who can't even afford to go to more than one game per season (like on their birthday or some big occasion) because they got priced out by their organization. So they come to our building "The Pebble" and have all their pre-fabricated talking points (most of them revolved around Brodeur) and general disrespect. They're the ones that eat that sh!t up. Totally being screwed by your favorite team is like some sign of "exclusivity" to them.

I'm gonna assume it has a lot to do with the media and marketing and all. I don't really listen to tv often but from what you guys are saying and what im seeing on MSG, they certainly try to make the Rangers look better than they really are and that propaganda works. People will simply do what they are told to do based on their surroundings, it's the same here with Montreal, eventhough Boston is technically closer. You're just fed early in life that you have to root for Mtl and that's it

Like SD mentioned, a ton of it is on the media especially on MSG.  I mean when they are not playing or doing well, they just throw the 94 tape in to get their fanbase to feel good.  They make themselves to have this long winning tradition when they have won exactly 1 cup in almost 75 years.

The fans DJ described pretty much accounts for a large chunk of their fanbase who lives in NJ.  They approach the sports with a clean slate where they have a team who actually plays in their state, has had 3 cups in the last 20 years with 2 additional finals appearances and is much more affordable, but instead choose the team across the river with exactly 1 cup in the last 75 years.  It's exactly because of that "NY aura" that they are drawn to since pretty much every other team they like in the other sports start with "NY Mets/Yankees/Giants/Jets/Knicks/(Brooklyn) Nets/Red Bulls.  I do not feel sorry for them though as they reap what they sow.

I get that they root for Montreal there (who wouldn't?), but similarly, it's the whole "Montreal is the greatest hockey team in the history of the sport" complex (which is only partially true, but not so much in terms of present status) that's similar to the Rangers.

who wouldnt? i'm certainly not. But it's not about the team, It's about their fanbase. I respect what thee team did historically but I recognize their accomplishments was made through LOTS of favorable things that were going their way and conditions that doesnt apply anymore. It's not that i don't want to give them credits, it's more like they are taking way more credits where they shouldnt.

When comes the world championships or Olympics im actually ashamed sometimes to be associated with that crowd honestly. But it's more of a cultural thing and how people from Quebec are that throws me off (sorry for the few Quebecers on this board lol) and that mentality is bleeding out in the whole fanbase even outside of Quebec.
