Preseason GDT: Devils @ The Rangers

I honestly don't understand how the renovations cost $1 billion, it's mind-blowing. And I'm in construction/design.

For a point of reference, Prudential Center cost  $375 million, from the ground up.

I'd have to think that a lot of the costs were simply around logistics.. They had to replace the arena piece by piece and all over a bustling train station in a crowded city.. Not to mention they rushed every summer with employees working 24/7 to get it done, so I'm sure they paid a lot of time and a half

So based on that, my guess is that $1 billion figure is pretty inflated and MSG loves throwing it out there for the publicity of looking like big shots.. We all know how they love to toot their own horn (some call it borderline brainwashing) about how amazingly famous and incredible the Garden is

You're probably right on all counts (cost of logistics + overinflated number). It all comes back to Dolan and the type of guy he is, which is why there would be any over-counting of any kind, for "marketing". How great is it for account managers at New York Rangers/Knicks to offer their corporate accounts boxes "in a billion dollar building". Those Wall Street firms eat that sh!t up all day.

Looking forward to seeing Larsson, Gelinas, Severson, Havlat and Boucher. Havlat is a neutral zone whiz and should help with entries

Never bothered to check until you pointed this out, but last year Havlat had a 61% zone entry with control rate and he had the lowest rate of failed entries amongst Sharks (via Fear the Fin). Sure he had a smaller sample size than a lot of the Sharks but it's still encouraging to see.

In case anyone's wondering, signing up for GameCenter will not give you access to a stream of tonight's game. Just tried. Waiting to see if either of these go live...
