Nothing to do with 6th OA (hopefully) but...

@Ledger_NJDevils do you know of any legitimate prospects local to New Jersey that the Devils might draft?

JC MacLean, the 18-year-old son of former Devils coach and right winger John MacLean is a top prospect who could interest the Devils. The 6-2, 200-pound center, who was a star at Delbarton and is from Basking Ridge, scored 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 39 games for the Austin Bruins of the NAHL last season,

The last time anybody actually correctly predicted a major Lou move (no, trading for Steve Sullivan isn't a major move) before it happened was Potvin predicting the Kovalchuk trade. Other than that, the more leaks you see about something the less likely it is to occur.

he didn't predict it - he was basically the first to report it maybe a day before it was actually done.

As I recall, Potvin's offhand remark was several days before Kovalchuk was actually traded, and after that came Waddell/Dudley taking in the Lowell Devils one night and everything else.

Also does anyone have any second round predictions?

I don't know enough about prospects at that point.

Maybe Jeremy Bracco if he's still at 36 or 41? That's all I got really.

I think Bracco is a late-teens/early-20's pick, in the 2nd Round I think we can look at Filip Chlapik, Daniel Sprong, Thomas Novak, Alex Durgachyov, Denis Guryanov, and maybe Jake DeBrusk, just to name a few players.

At #67 I'm really hoping for Dmytro Timashov, Devils don't really have a playmaker like him in their system.

To me, Bracco seems like the Brayden Point of this draft. I really like him, but I would be very surprised if he goes in the first. Less surprised if he goes in the third, to be honest. He's one of those guys that may turn out to be a steal.

I like some of the players you mentioned for our second rounders, but to add to that, Dennis Yan looks like he could be good for us. I'm also intrigued by Roope Hintz, Filip Ahl, and Sebastian Aho.

Hoping we take Beauvillier at 36 though.

Comparatively Bracco has much better numbers than other USHL-product 1st Rounders (Schmaltz, Larkin from 2014), and has numbers almost as good as Kessel from his days in the USHL. Only knock on him is size, but just raw skill I think makes him a 1st Rounder, if he's there at #36 though we need to take him, played his youth hockey in Jersey as well.

I also wouldn't mind Beauvillier at #36, just not my first choice.

Points are skewed like SMantzas said because of injuries, suspension, 1st NA season, and a bad team, but watching him play he has pro talent. Between the other top forwards around that pick, Crouse is the Power Forward, Barzal is the Playmaker, and Zacha is the goal scorer, he has a hell of a shot and pro size as well.

As long as we don't trade away that pick we're going to get what should be an awesome player. I've read a couple of Carolina fans on HF saying they don't think their management will take Marner and instead will go for Crouse or Provorov/Werenski. Fits their team needs more. Honestly the Metro is going to have a lot of great defenses so it might be a good idea for them to draft a defender. Just to be able to keep up with the rest of the division on defense. Pitt should be thinking that too.

Has us taking Marner. Where do I sign?

The only question is who Carolina is taking. We know either him or Barzal will be available at 6. I like Marner a lot, but for some reason I've really been into the idea of drafting Rantanen. I'm hoping Crouse is on the board come 7 and Philly takes him, I'd hate to see any

of Barzal, marner, or rantanen end up there. You think they might be looking for D anyway

Kinda hard to read what Philly is doing because they're all over the place, but I figure they're going with a forward, already have Sanheim, Morin, Hagg, and Gostisbehere in the system on D.

per Brendan Ross

Seidel talks about the #Leafs possibly taking Lawson Crouse & I love his mentioning of Bo Horvat, stating that LC is a bigger/meaner version

Well that's good for us if true.

edit: ah damn... later tweeted...

Of course,Seidel states that taking Crouse is less likely but his impact would be felt throughout the lineup and entire rink.Good leader too

that would be fantastic for us.  if LC is taken before us at all, then that is great news

I don't think anyone honestly expects Shero and Conte to go entirely with forwards in this Draft, so when we take a defenseman, I wouldn't mind Vladislav Gavrikov in a later round. He an overager compared to the rest of this year's draft, but he seems like a known commodity (won the Top Defenseman award at the 2015 WJC) that we could nab in Round 5 or so that could pan out into a good defenseman. I also wouldn't mind Jesper Lindgren or Gustav Bouramman.

Sound like interesting players.

It also brings up another interesting storyline. The draft philosophy, per Lou, over at least the last two years has been to draft forwards unless the defenseman is too good to pass up. Lou said that explicitly when drafting Jacobs, and I recall he said the same thing about Santini, and something close to it with Severson, although the forward situation didn't seem so bleak In 2012. know the scouts come up with the board, although it isn't clear whether Conte had complete autonomy to decide when that defenseman was available, or if Lou had some kind of veto power. So I wonder if this approach changes under Shero.
