Been around for 80 years so how much longer does it have to be before its considered hockey? 3 on 3 never happens in the course of a 5 on 5 game so why is it okay to go to that version of the game but a shootout is an afront to the hockey god

They're both bastardizations of the game. Ties are fine with me.

Count me in as well. I never had a problem with ties and have always detested the shootout. The game should have been left alone. If they want to minimize ties then tinker a bit if they must, but the wholesale changes made to hockey have been a disgrace. Next thing you know they'll do something REALLY stupid and put a friggin trapezoid at each end of the ice ......

Oh... Wait.... Nevermind...

lol. The trapezoid is one of the dumbest rules in sports. Why make a rule to handicapp the skill of goalies? It clearly doesn't affect scoring in the way they wanted it to, so why keep going with the failed experiment?

The funny thing about the trapezoid is that it was so clearly aimed at one player in particular.  It's not like there was a bevy of players who could do what Marty could.

Yep. Bobby Clarke pushed hard for that rule to go through. At the time, DiPietro was still playing as well. He was a really good puck handler.
