Bleech.  Sucks being outclassed by the Rangers, but it is what it is and it's not getting better anytime soon.

Can we recap after 1 period of the new regime:

- Harrold promoted to top pairing

- Harrold promoted to PP, a bigger role,

- Gio promoted to PP, (1:11 in PP time)

- Steve Bernier major PP time (2:24 in PP time)

- Scott Gomez very little PP time, (:41, less than Gionta)

- Josefson, Zubrus, Ruutu debut on the PP as a forward line.

- Devils give up a 2-on-0 on the PK, not from a bad line change, but a Rangers break out with all 4 Devils on the ice.

Just..fantastic.

I'm sure this will be said a number of times in this thread... but it's the first game under the new "regime".

They're going with the same old lines Pete trotted out until they have a chance to see what they've got up close. If Gionta and Harrold were on the PP under DeBoer, that's what you're going to see tonight. Oates probably hasn't spoken with these guys in two years, never mind thought up PP combinations.

If Gionta is still on the PP in a couple weeks, especially once some players are back, then I'll sharpen your pitchforks myself.

Except Gionta and Harrold never got even a second of PP time under Deboer and now all of sudden with Oates at the helm, they're getting more PP time than anyone else. They're on the first fvcking PP unit. That's an unforgivable crime, an offense to all things sane and logical, the biggest fvck you to Devils fans I've ever seen.

Good news is that Schneider is having another great game, keeping this to a one shot game even though we didn't do anything to earn being in a 1 goal game to this point.

OK maybe that's my bad.

I remembered seeing them both out there on the PP recently but I may be confused.

Either way, hopefully this will be the last time. You're right that they are not PP players at the NHL level.

There is just zero justification to have Gionta and Harrold on a PP when you have Jagr, Cammalleri, Gomez available still even with the injuries. Nevermind Henrique and Zajac.

Rangers have given the Devils plenty of PP opportunities. Can't complain about that. Refs have also missed a few obvious penalty calls on the Devils that should have been called.
