coldply123
Will we blow the lead? No. These are just garbage time goals by the Flyers.

thecoffeecake
10 fights all of last year. Four tonight. I guess DeBoer wasn't a huge fan of it.

mfitz804
Ok, so beating the Flyers is a little like winning an MMA fight against a 3 year old, but it was still fun to watch. Great job by Jagr, ridiculous what he's able to accomplish at his age. New skates right out of the box indeed. Sestito needs to stick to not scoring goals, he fights like crap. BostonNala370
We have played with a little more snarl since Lou Stoates took over. I like "Lou Stoates". What is the cost of these 3 coaches vs one to just finish the year?
NJDevs4978
Maybe they will hire DeBoer. If they have any Swedish defensemen under 30 they'd better run for the hills then

thecoffeecake
More like: that's what happens when there's a lopsided lead by one team. Doesn't happen to the Devils much. Does that explain the two when the game was close? Does that explain the two against Pittsburgh? Does that explain Sestito going after Schenn or whoever it was for taking a run at Greene? Nope. It doesn't. I don't think you need to explain what does and doesn't happen to the Devils much to most posters on this board. I'm not one of them. I am not saying we aren't playing with a little more of an edge, but four fights has to do with the sloppy game it was for the Flyers and the fact that the Flyers are a dirty team that takes cheap shots and instigates. We are always more likely to have fights vs. the Flyers and Rags; they are hated rivals. Remember the puck drop free-for-all vs. the Rags a few years ago? That was under DeBoer. The second part of your post is incomprehensible.
EdgeControl
larrson is no longer a liability in the D zone. merrill is holdiding his own and has some nice individual skill moves. zid is a hell of an offensive weapon and greene is steady. that a decent top two pairing even with the injuries. schnieder and KK are a nice tandem but the main difference these last few games is thatr the offensive lines, particularly the top two are healthy again. having cammy travis havlat and elias all good to go makes a big difference with this team. that hasnt happened much this year. plus, no doubt the coaching change added a spark and jump, even zubrus looks better (i know big deal). not sure if Im happy about it though its not a sustainably situation and Id rather be fighting for that 3rd last spot, as a jet fan I know how damaging winning meaningless games can be (see beckham jr vs pryor)
Derlique
I know Gomez recently had a rough stretch, but what would it take for Lou to bring him back next year? I don't see many better available options at center unless we're pinning our hopes to a 18 year old kid, who is likely not going to be McDavid or Eichel
EdgeControl
another question is how many more years does zid have left in those quick feet and fast hands???

He's not getting as many minutes from the coaches and isn't really playing well consistently. I know Gomez recently had a rough stretch, but what would it take for Lou to bring him back next year? I don't see many better available options at center unless we're pinning our hopes to a 18 year old kid, who is likely not going to be McDavid or Eichel I could see a 1 yr deal. In terms of money I couldn't see more than 2m.
mfitz804
If you are talking 3rd or 4th line, I'd bring Gonez back in a heartbeat for $2m, maybe $2.5m. He's proved he can still hang a bit. This is especially true if we are lacking in the forward position next year, which we still would be if we got a stud in the draft. One player does not a great team make... I would NOT be optimistic if we go into next season thinking Gomez is a top line center.
EdgeControl
Disagree on Zubrus. He's not getting as many minutes from the coaches and isn't really playing well consistently. his minutes have actually increased under the 3 man HC and his line level is higher... but he still isnt getting pts on the board
coldply123
his minutes have actually increased under the 3 man HC and his line level is higher... but he still isnt getting pts on the board He only got 22 minutes in the Pens game because we literally were short of forwards. With the Gionta injury they have to give him more time on the PK as well. I went back and looked again and his actual minutes logged look higher than I expected. I must have looked in the wrong column at November instead. It showed him down around 14 or 15 mins, but in actually he has been up around 16-18 mins lately. My error. He's a guy I've loved here, but it looks very obvious he's declining quite a bit. His skating isn't awful, but he doesn't have as much burst/quickness anymore and his offensive production is close to nil. People might make excuses due to the inability to get a consistent fit on a line, but part of that is because he's not really able to fit into the top lines and I'm not sure he can play the board battle style that helped him and us so much in his first contract with us. I mean he's played 20 more games now than Clowe, yet has only 1 more point than him.

The second part of your post is incomprehensible. That isn't what you said in your first post. How many fights had the Devils and Flyers had the first two meetings? The rangers line brawl was a personal thing between pdb and torts. This team is definitely willing to play a much more physical game under the new leadership. They're standing up for each other, standing up for Schneider and kinkaid. There was a much different tone under DeBoer.
