jagknife
Was such a great resource for the average fan with so much entertainment through making own rosters and the like. nhlnumbers.com looks to be the next closest resource now. and of course I echo the speedy recovery for the owner/operator. DevilMinder
Wonder if lou took him out for worrying about his cap. J/k hope he recovers from whatever it is.

aylbert
It's interesting that he isn't interested in selling it either. It's obviously a serious illness to warrant shutting down... I hope for the best.
Devilsfan118
Sad, hope he recovers from whatever is ailing him.
sundstrom
It's interesting that he isn't interested in selling it either. It's obviously a serious illness to warrant shutting down... I hope for the best. I get the sense that the site was as much about Matt, the guy behind it, as it was the technology and data. Real sad
Matteau#32
Not sure if this site is as acurate, I will use it time to time for the giants. But here is an alternative. http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/ I am thinking someone will get the information and build a new cap geek. The salaries are public information. Steadevils
Anyone find a good replacement for capgeek? You don't know what you've lost until it's gone.
Z-Man
http://www.nhlnumbers.com is a decent alternative, but still not as good as capgeek was.
RunninWithTheDevil
Sorry to bump an old thread, but Capgeeks owner passed today. Very sad. Mathew Wuest

RunninWithTheDevil
The thing that really grinds my gears is that Bettman publicly came out and said capgeek isn't something fans like or acknowledge. He's completely wrong. I know some guys on here that could be analysts for NHL clubs because of that site, and Mat is trending WORLDWIDE om twitter at the moment
Neb00rs
RIP. He leaves this world with an incredibly esteemed legacy among true hockey fans; which is the way I'd imagine he would have wanted to go out.

Devilsfan118
Man that sucks. I had no idea it was this serious. RIP. You know, though.. I'm surprised he didn't leave the site to be run by someone else. I'd personally be sad to see the fruits of my labor for years go to waste like that. But it was obviously his choice and preference. Jimmy Leeds
He died in Halifax of colon cancer. He did look young. Colonoscopies should be done at the LATEST, 40. No more of that 50 crap. I've been getting them every 3 years since I was 39. My brother had colon cancer at 44, 8 years ago and still suffers even though he is cancer free. Do yourself a favor, ESPECIALLY if there is ANY family history and get one done.
CRASHER
I hope the NHL makes an exception and puts this guy in the Hall of Fame, the off-ice contributions and dedication to the game, and not to mention invaluable resource his site was, he deserves it
