capo
Well he definitely has now Gary Cohen's vindicated at least I just wanted him to play well enough to tender him so we get something out of him. I don't know if that happens.
NJDevs4978
It's over. Season is over. Shellshocked and mentally destroyed KC wins the world series tomorrow With Volquez getting the storybook finish. The only question is whether Harvey will man up long enough for the pen to blow it again or not
capo
I mean if Familia hadn't blown the first game I'd be much more forgiving of him tonight cause he should have had two groundball outs but Murphy boots ground ball #1 and because he boots ground ball #1 they have to shade for the double play on ground ball #2 and it finds a hole. But yeah I can't say he's an elite closer now. He's not missing bats.
NJDevs4978
And Clippard needs to go to Siberia next year, I had enough of him...kills us for years with the Nationals, now kills us as a Met just like Glavine.

NJDevs4978
TC lost this game yesterday. How, by letting Familia throw ten pitches? Big deal, it was his second outing in a week and a half.
NJDevs4978
lol what a fitting ending, fvck you too Cespedes. Thanks for the division title and going on siesta after that, enjoy your $180 million elsewhere. Colorado Rockies 1976
At the end of the day...KC is just the better team. End of story.

NJDevs4978
Ownership must be breathing a sigh of relief, they get the third WS home game and now they don't have to take criticism for letting Cespedes and Murphy walk. I can't WAIT to hear Joe and Evan Monday Benigno was the biggest fanboy of bringing both back.
'7'
I like Murphy, still do, but of course this wart had to rear its ugly head at the worst possible time. Of course it did. Feels like we're the new Red Sox now. So what now? This feels like a dead team walking. They've bounced back from a lot of crazy sh!t this year but the Royals are good and have a horseshoe up their ass. That's a lot to overcome. I want them to win desperately. I want them to take this sucker back to KC and give us a few more days of hope. Unfortunately the Royals smell blood in the water. They will jump on Harvey early, he will be booed out of the building. The Mets bats will go silent. Dan Murphy had written such a nice script. Unfortunately that play will be our last memory of him. Tomorrow is his final game as a Met And Cespedes....have you ever seen a 3-1 eye high inside fastball that you didn't like. Unreal, 3-1 and just throw him junk, he'll fish
capo
The question now becomes what can Mets do to get back here an win next year. Each of those 4 pitchers can be potentially 20 game winners. So, what do you do? I say they have to get faster and fundemntally stronger. This idea of hitting home runs for all your runs is fvcking stupid. Especially when you play in a pitcher's park. That's SA's job this winter bring in some speed, fix the bullpen and figure out the catcher situation. Is plawecki the guy of the future. They've already talked about moving TdA to somewhere else on the field. Although, I don't see that happening. There's a good chance he gets traded. Though, he's shown some pop when he's played. He's injured way to frequently. I'm glad we got to the world series. I wish we could of won. Our pitchers are too damn good to not get back here. Speed and defense will win it for us in the near future but it's not happening if you have to hit home runs to score your runs. You have to better rounded than that. NJDevs4978
I don't even want to talk about changes yet...but I don't see that many changes to the everyday lineup tbh. Conforto and Herrera will probably play every day assuming Murphy's gone. The only real question is whether they get another CF'er to replace Cespedes or just hope Lagares bounces back - and doesn't he need TJS anyway? If they change anything up it's this sorry excuse of a pen. Other than Reed and Familia (and he's now just another good closer) I really don't want to see anyone back. Maybe Robles, and bring back Blevins if he gets a bionic arm. They need at least one more reliable setup guy and a rubber-armed middle reliever that can do what Colon/Niese have done this postseason. If they leave this offense alone minus Cespedes and Murphy they won't even challenge for the playoffs. Either there's a trade out there or you have to go after Upton and Heyward and that sh!t ain't happening. This team is too close to take your foot off the pedal. We have to go for it again. '7'
I can't jump on Familia too much for today. It was two outs men on 2nd and 3rd. He got an out. Murphy decided he was going to be a moron. Granted Familia did not knuckle down afterwards but, he didn't create the situation either. Royals just make too much damn contact. I have no doubt Harvey is laying an egg tomorrow. His arm is shot and they will dink and dunk him to death. When he's booed off the mound at 5-1 top of the 5th, I wonder if there will be serious talks to trade him in the offseason.

Well Conforto's definitely better than the rotting corpse of Cuddyer. Herrera's not better than Murphy offensively but at least might save a few of that run difference defensively. It'll come down to health for some of the others, but can you really trust David/Travis to stay healthy? Plus Granderson had a bit of a best-case scenario year, no guarantee he repeats that next year. So long as they at least bring in major leaguers for their bench this year and don't start the season with Campbell/John Mayberry as your top options, that was the big problem with the offense when guys got hurt and they had to play AAA players like Ceciliani. If you have guys like Uribe on your bench at least you can sort of withstand losing one of your key cogs and give your regulars rest. I can't jump on Familia too much for today. I somehow think he'll pitch well, if only cause it'll annoy me even more that he decides to pitch just well enough to lose now when Volquez with super inspiration will shut down a comatose Met offense. If he does pitch poorly well I'm not going to lie part of me will feel like he's getting a deserved comeuppance. capo
I hope Uribe comes back. Perhaps Grandy has increased his trade value to the point where he can be moved and they can make a play for Heyward.

They won't take their foot off the pedal, but this will be a different team. But it doesn't matter. The 86 team was supposed to see another World Series. They never did 2006 never got their 1985 Bears...never got their again Look what's going on with the current NY Rags team. They may never win a cup, that window of opportunity is closing fast Sometimes you only get 1 shot at it. I have no idea what happens next. Injuries can happen, bad luck can happen. Just because we have this staff doesn't mean we are pre ordained for anything. Edited November 1, 2015 by '7'
NJDevs4978
And the staff itself might be even better next year now there there won't be any drama over innings limits/extra rest and you get Thor/Matz for a full season (assuming he isn't one of these guys that ALWAYS get hurt). I will miss Bartolo though, and you can't underestimate the value of 200+ innings and 15 wins a year. I've been watching this team for a long time and since 88 I've had no confidence that they would ever win. I thought 88 was a sure thing. Nope, and ever since it's been one frustration after another to point where you just expect bad things to happen. I had absolutely no faith the Familia was going to get us out of that mess today and sure Murph kicked the ball but familia didn't miss any bats either. '7'
The morning after. The Murphy play is not even close to Buckner level. First off their was one out. He makes the play and what's the likely outcome. Royals have men on 2nd and 3rd and likely slap some BS hit to right and take the lead anyway. I'm pissed as hell at Murphy, I just hope this play doesn't follow him around for the rest of his career Cespedes has been a useless POS this entire series. But he'll play, and we'll go down with the ship with Yoenis in center swinging at ball four inches inside and at eye level It's going to get ugly for Harvey tonight. Real ugly Wright didn't miss another homer by much last night. Looks like his bat is sorta/kinda coming around Love Conforto. This kid is going to hit 20 in his sleep. I think he'll be like Jay Bruce, maybe even a tad better
capo
I'd sign up for that from Conforto. They have build around him.
