'7'
And of course, the Rags get their 45th lucky within the last minute of the period lucky bounce and goal of the playoffs Game is over. Rangers lead the series 1-0.
devlman
Why doesn't the media ever give the rags sh!t for their boring play. All they do is block shots and collapse around the queen. That's why henrique's goal was so sweet, seeing four blue shirts laying down on the ice trying to block. So pathetic.

HellOnICE
TB over did it. Not enough shot generation, passing up lanes to go for the pretty play. Not how you're going to beat these guys. Again, the Rangers only scored 2 goals. TB has the guns. Adjust and move on.
'7'
Stamkos was pretty terrible today. breaking his stick, shooting wide. Just a total non factor...and he had his chances the series is over. Just like it ended after the Kreider goal in game 5 for washington. No chance Tampa comes back...I mean they will be down 1-0 on Monday, score to tie it to make it 1-1...hit 11 posts in the waning minutes, then Kevin Hayes will center a pass that will bounce off 74 different body parts and magically end up in the net with 0.0001 seconds to go in the game and the Rags will win. Yep. It's infuriating. Hopefully Tampa can bounce back in game 2, but I doubt it.
Derek21
MD Pucks It'll be interesting to see what the Capitals do this offseason. Ovie has totally bought into Trotz, I wish the Devils had a guy with the grit and hockey sense of Ward, and Orpik and Niskanen have solidified the backline. I wouldn't be surprised if Green and Backstrom could be heading elsewhere. Green was relegated to 3rd D pair/PP specialist and Backstrom is an incredible passer who refuses to shoot the puck. Its maddening when he holds onto the puck (a la the last PP in Game 6) on the halfboards waiting for a perfect pass as time is expiring. Tom Wilson's aggressiveness needs to be cultivated into a 2012 Milan Lucic before he turns into a Raffi Torres criminal or an indifferent 2015 Lucic. John Carleson is only going to get better, Kuznetsov's talent is unreal and Ovie seems to have taken him under his wing. You're accurate in what you said about the Caps. They played a physical defensive and aggressive style which nearly worked. They took away most of the Rangers' strengths. But Vigneault made a key adjustment having them chip pucks behind the D and work behind the net. That's what they had to do. That said, I thought they were done in Game 5. But it all worked out. That's hockey. Game 7 could've gone either way. I was pacing around like a lunatic. Backstrom killed them. He didn't shoot the puck enough and was way too predictable. He had one great chance in Game 7 where they finally set him up on that one power play in front and Lundqvist robbed him. That was the turning point. Outside of that and his assist off a faceoff win on Ovechkin's tally, he was largely MIA. The Geico man didn't step up. Next year, the Caps will be rid of Green's big salary allowing Trotz to select someone more to his liking. I'm curious to see if they re-sign Ward, who was superb. He attract interest. Kuznetsov reminds me of Jagr with his size, speed and hands. He has the tools. With Holtby taking a big step, the Caps should be heard from. That's why henrique's goal was so sweet, seeing four blue shirts laying down on the ice trying to block. So pathetic. You mean like that screwball LeBrun with his typical article about how playing defense and getting offense off it is bad. They don't play the same style as 2012 under Torts. They attack more and pinch the D creating a lot more scoring chances. They haven't been finishing. I am sick of the media bias. They can go screw themselves. Pens tried to play that way and it didn't work. Caps played that way and it worked til the end of game 5, then got away from it, and lost. Yesterday was wide-open? Why would the media give the Rangers crap for playing effective defense?

But that's the media. They're not paid to be smart. Rangers were also 3rd in the league in goals scored, led the league in 5-on-5 goals, even strength goals, even strength goal differential, and tied with tampa for the best 5-on-5 goal differential. Secondly, it was the Penguins and Capitals who tried to play all-out defend, not the Rangers. Rangers would have much rather played run and gun with those teams. Derek21
The reason the media is upset is due to the lack of scoring. Offense is down this playoffs. They'd much prefer either the Hawks or Ducks winning in a higher scoring Stanley Cup against the Lightning. The Rangers offense isn't as good without Zuccarello. Especially with Nash being held down and St. Louis unable to score. Kreider and Brassard are their best postseason performers. Stepan is shedding the label. He started to last year. McDonagh has 7 points. Boyle is actually their leading goalscorer from the blueline. They have to manufacture goals. They don't have as much talent as the other teams. The Hawks can just roll Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Keith and Seabrook out. The Ducks have Getzlaf and Perry with Kesler having a good run. Lightning possess the Triplets (Palat-Johnson-Kucherov), Stamkos and Hedman. Those teams can open it up more easily.
Devils Pride 26
About to go insane. Working in a country club with people fans of the traditional big 3 sports. Everyone is now a ranger expert. It's fvckin beyond annoying. Heard today "you know i try to watch a period a night during the regular season but just can't keep up with it. But nothing matches playoff hockey. Playoff hockey this, playoff hockey that." FVCK OFF. Already heard two smucks talking about a "finals round" box. Lundqvist is god. Compare other goalies on a scale of 1-hank. FVCK off. Hank was outplayed 6 of 7 games last series. For all the "Brodeur is a Fraud" crowd, you ever think Brodeur made only 20 saves a game because he had excellent rebound control? Lundqvists "spectacular" saves come from his own sh!tty rebound control. Honestly, I do feel bad for matteau and Derek. Being a Devils fan is never "cool" even when they are winning. It's great. You don't gain a bandwagon of sh!t. fvckin bitches.
