Jerzey 673
The Devils named Pertti Hasanen their new development/skills coach today. Hasanen joins goalie coach Scott Clemmensen on the team’s development staff. “Pertti did an outstanding job at our recent development camp in all facets of on-ice skill development,” Devils general manager Ray Shero said in a news release announcing the move. “He will work with our players in both New Jersey and Albany next season, in addition to scouting and evaluating our current prospects.” http://fireandice.northjersey.com/fire-ice-1.174987/pertti-hasanen-named-devils-development-skills-coach-1.1387968
Jas0nMacIsaac 92
Only 10 years after I originally had the idea to have skill coaches work year round. Excellent move for the Devils, fresh type of thinking indeed. Spend money on development/scouting.
Aitchmack 567
If it translates into more prospects making it to NHL level then it's money well spent.
themightyall 9
Is anybody getting concerned about the Zacha contract at all? I mean, I get that they are negociating, but most top picks ELCusually get signed quickly. Wouldn't like it if there was any tension between him/Stefan and Shero. I've been concerned since they missed the first deadline - of which I'm still confused. There's a 7/15 deadline where we would have to pay the 100k, but there's another deadline on 8/15 where we would have to pay the 100k directly to his Czech team. What's the difference? But I don't see how hard it is to just agree to certain Schedule A bonuses.
NJDevs26 11
He isn't eligible to play in the NHL this season if they miss the 8/15 deadline that's the difference.

Yeah, but what was the 7/15 one compared to this one really? I only heard that it was the 100k just had the extra phrase, "directly to the Czech team." 8/15 is just a do or die one. Devs3cups 1,777
That's what I mean. I think it'll be signed before the deadline, but I don't really enjoy the wait.

I only heard that it was the 100k just had the extra phrase, "directly to the Czech team." 8/15 is just a do or die one. Before 7/15 they didn't have to pay the $100k, now they do. If they don't get it done by 8/15, he can't play here. Edited August 6, 2015 by Triumph

Jerzey 673
Scott Gomez, Steve Bernier won't get tryout invitations from Devils While it is likely Ray Shero will invite at least one player to attend training camp on a tryout basis, the Devils' general manager is not considering extending an invitation to either Scott Gomez or Steve Bernier. "That's not a direction I'm looking to go at this point. I think we made a decision back before the draft to let (Bernier) go to free agency and let him go in a different direction," Shero told NJ Advance Media. "Obviously they haven't signed anywhere yet, but I'm sure they are working on some things themselves. "With Scott, as I've said before, it really wasn't so much about him but more us going in a different direction and giving an opportunity to younger players. We drafted (Pavel) Zacha and I've talked about (Jacob) Josefson." Devils add Patrick Rissmiller as development coach The Devils continued building their development staff by hiring former NHL player Patrick Rissmiller today as a development coach. Rissmiller, 36, joins Scott Clemmensen (goaltenders) and Pertti Hasanen (skills) on the organization's development coaching staff. Devils hire Andy Schneider as amateur scout The Devils added to their scouting department today by hiring Andy Schneider as an amateur scout. Schneider. 43, worked the past three seasons in the Columbus Blue Jackets' organization with the Devils' new director of amateur scouting Paul Castron, who was hired on July 31. Jerzey 673
Jeez, they're really cleaning house over there... Devils cut ties with longtime team doctor Barry Fisher Barry Fisher, the Devils' team orthopedist since the club moved to New Jersey from Colorado in 1982, has joined the list of personnel to leave the organization this summer, NJ Advance Media has learned. Dr. Fisher, 64, was one of the Devils' two original physicians for the inaugural 1982-83 season along with internist Richard Commentucci. Fisher was the team's lead doctor for 33 years before a change was made in May. "Dr. Fisher will not be back," Devils general manager Ray Shero confirmed. Michael K. Shindle, who is from Madison, N.J., is now the Devils' team orthopedist. An attending orthopedic surgeon at Summit Medical Group, Shindle was Team USA's doctor at the world championships in Prague. He serves as team physician for the New York Red Bulls of the MLS and as an orthopedic consultant for the NFL Giants. Edited August 27, 2015 by Jerzey Devil
