I dont know. While he isnt necessarily a bad skater, it isnt a strong suit either.

Yeah I have nothing much more than a hunch to go on.  I think he will be to 3 on 3 like Viktor Kozlov was to shootouts.

Again this is on a hunch and I could be completely wrong.

Man, imagine rolling:

Henrique-Parise

Severson

Zajac-Kovalchuk

Greene/Larsson

You really have to do this?  I don't think Parise's particularly good 3 on 3, and while Kovalchuk would obviously be great offensively the idea of him on a backcheck or pressuring a puck carrier is terrifying.

Haha come on, it's a fun little exercise.

I don't like this setup at all.  I've played in a beer league playoff game that went to this format in double OT, and it was a joke (I'm saying this and we ended up winning the game).  It just didn't seem like real hockey, and was more akin to a game on a pond (with goalies).  Will be interesting to see how the different coaches around the league strategize for it.  For the teams with top end skill, speed, and offensive talent, this should be a huge boost.

The Devils will get destroyed next year with this format.

3 on 3 is fine as a last resort, only after 4 on 4. It's good that shootouts will be reduced but just going straight to 3 on 3 is pretty dumb.

All of OT is now a clusterfvck of idiocy.

5 on 5 for 5 minutes. Nobody scores? Tie game. Done.

I'm pretty stoaked for 3 on 3 OT. I haven't liked the SO for a while and have always found 3 on 3 in OT to be really exciting, great with the risk vs reward plays, and still very team oriented. I always love when penalties result in 3 on 3 OTs. It reminds me of that old school All-Star event where they do the 3 on nones against the goalies.

I think they should also stop rewarding teams with a point just for making it to overtime. It just makes teams ride out the 3rd period to get that one point if it's tied up.

I don't mind 3 on 3 because it will be fun to watch, but they should be trying to get teams to finish in regulation.

So I know the NHL awards are a popularity contest more than anything else, but it really sucks that both Severson and Schneider didn't receive a single vote for the Calder and Vezina, respectively.

Seems a little ridiculous, especially for Cory.  He had a statistically insane year, playing behind one of the worst teams in the NHL.  I feel for the guy.

..probably never should've acquired him in the first place.  Trade doesn't make sense in the short or long term for either side.  Ah well.

Not that it matters, but it is odd how he was voted 5th for NHL all-star team for his position, but didnt receive a vote for Vezina. Where is the disconnect?

Kind of feel like they could completely do away with shootouts if they go 3v3 OT. Have a hard time seeing many games go beyond the time it takes to play 3v3 OT and do the shootouts.

Last season, the AHL used a 3 on 3 following the 4 on 4 OT format, before going to shootouts.  According to NHL Network, 75% of games that went to 3 on 3 ended there, so the # of shootouts should decrease dramatically next season.
