sokar
https://twitter.com/DarrenDreger/status/615190679761887232 La places Richards, Ana places Fistric, and Mtl places Parenteau on unconditional Waivers for buy out.
jagknife
So, if I'm not mistaken, when LA buys out Richards, they'll get hit with half his cap for twice the remaining length of the contract, correct? if so, thats 3 million annually for the next 10(!) years... holy crap. GoArmySports
Chicago will sign Mike Richards to replace Brad Richards and he'll have the game winning goal to clinch the Stanley Cup next June for the Hawks. You heard it here first.

ghdi
Richards' contract has been terminated for "material breach". LA opened up a can of worms here. They have to prove it. Clearly Lombardi is trying to get out from under the cap hit, but this is going to be a mess.
DJ Eco
WOW. Boston Bruins just traded a 2017 3rd Round pick to the Flyers for Zac Rinaldo.... Things are going from bad to worse in Boston.

Lateralous
WOW. Boston Bruins just traded a 2017 3rd Round pick to the Flyers for Zac Rinaldo.... Things are going from bad to worse in Boston. I started out Friday giving my best friend, who grew up in Boston and is a huge Bruins fan, crap about making another Seguin level trade. Now I just feel bad. Sweeney is in way over his head. I'm also not sold on Cam Neely. Seems like things only started going off the rails for Chirelli once Seabass was on board. The Richards news is very interesting. ghdi
I know they won't do it but we should offer sheet Brandon Saad No we shouldnt. How much do you think we should offer him? They'll match almost anything, and anything they won't match we don't want to pay the compensation. Besides, anything over 3.3M and below 8.4M rules us out because we don't own our 3rd anymore. We have 2, but they are from other teams. Brandon Saad is a good player on a stacked team. He's not worth the cost. They'll match anything reasonable espc if they trade Sharp. MadDog2020
This whole Richards thing is pretty crazy. Apparently the 29 other teams all had to sign off on this, which all of them did. Edited June 29, 2015 by MadDog2020

Apparently, the Kings are going to get tabbed with a recapture penalty of $1.32 million for the next five seasons, which isn't nothing. Satans Hockey
It won't matter a year from now when they're in Seattle. They better use some neon green like the sounders and seahawks do. Would be nice to some different colors in the league again. Edited June 29, 2015 by Satans Hockey
Devilsfan118
What does that even mean for Richards? How can they pull this card when he regularly played last year? Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk

Triumph
It's a 3rd in 2017, so that's more like a 5th on Friday, but it's still quite bad
devilsrule33
So, should the Devils still go after Mike Richards for veteran and Cup leadership? What fantastic timing.
Lateralous
So, should the Devils still go after Mike Richards for veteran and Cup leadership? What fantastic timing. Let's wait and see what he did to get terminated. No real info yet but from some of the cryptic reactions of the media, it doesn't sound good. Marek mentioned on his podcast today that he heard lots of whispers about an incident involving Richards at the draft and wasn't at all surprised by the breach of contract news. They heard the news as they were recording the last 5 minutes of the marek vs wyshinski podcast.
Onddeck
Boston fans have every right to be scratching their heads over what's happening over there. I'd be furious with how the last week went
vadvlfan
So, should the Devils still go after Mike Richards for veteran and Cup leadership? What fantastic timing. I really don't know. I think this guy can no longer get excited about this game. He doesn't want got compete any more. Apparently there was an off/ice incident, whatever that means. Let's be careful what we wish for. If the termination of his contract holds up, or even if it appears that it might for the foreseeable future (some have said that the grievance process could take more than a year) he might be really motivated to show that he can still play just for the money, which is as good a motivator as anything. DJ Eco
This is certainly strange. If it were drug possession/law enforcement related, we likely would've gotten details by now. No athlete has a brush-in with the law without that information being made public; I mean, it's public information. Even a drug incident or overdose/hospital stay leads to some rumors getting out. I can't really imagine what went wrong here, such a strange situation. Canadian law enforcement has even confirmed to hockey media that no charges have been filed on Richards. So so weird.
