vadvlfan
Look forward to Marty's number being retired, and Shero's blockbuster trade for a top 6 fw. (Although I realize it'll probably cost us at least a first rounder.)

BostonNala370
Zacha should not be in the NHL next year. Isn't that what they pay Shero and his coaches to decide?

insanity_gallops
Similar to what others have posted, I'm looking forward to just watching the younger players grow, develop, and experience more responsibility in the NHL -- without the pressure of Lou looking over their shoulders on the bench and the added weight of feeling like they're "letting down" the older guys on the team. At this point, the veteran players on the team know what their roles are in all of this -- or at least they should, provided Hynes really is the great communicator we've all heard about -- and the younger guys know that this is turning into THEIR team. It's their opportunity to establish new traditions, expectations, and locker room culture. It's bizarre, but I actually had a similar conversation with a friend of mine back when the Devils were a middle-of-the-road playoff team in the late 2000s. I had said I wouldn't mind shedding some contracts for youth, speed, and a few years of struggles if it meant setting up for sustained chances of success in the future. (Not that I'm any kind of a fortune teller - I believe I said something along the lines of, "...ya know, like how they're working to build the team in Atlanta." Yeesh.) vadvlfan
Zacha should not be in the NHL next year. On the same token, will he learn a lot more with another year in Jr? I think he'll play a few exhibition games anyway, then they'll decide. There's a lot of hope riding on this kid
'7'
Seeing if Matteau can be an effective banger/crasher/forchecker who can put up 20 pts or so over 80 games If Boucher can stick with the big club all year If Keith Kinkaid can be a real top notch backup a big breakout season for Severson Not being an incredibly plodding, slow team. They won't exactly be the 2015 Rags in terms of speed but I think the Devs will be more watchable, even if it doesn't result in more goals. Jas0nMacIsaac
Mike Cammallerri - Travis Zajac - Stefan Matteau Adam Henrique - Patrik Elias - Kyle Palmieri Tuomo Ruutu - Jacob Josefson - Jordin Tootoo Stephen Gionta - Sergey Kalinin - Blake Coleman Danius Zubrus, Reid Boucher Andy Greene - Damon Severson Eric Gelinas - Adam Larsson John Moore - John Merrill Vojtech Mozik Cory Schneider Keith Kindkaid This is a pretty big fast roster top to bottom. Pavel Zacha will benefit from dominating the OHL before making the jump next season. Edited July 20, 2015 by Jas0nMacIsaac

You forgot Helgeson, but who knows who is going to make the bottom half of the roster. Bottom-six and bottom pairings and such. It's time we see new faces that push old faces out of the lineup. That's what I'd consider progress. So Coleman, kujiwinski, Zacha, Pietila etc.Sent from my C6725 using Tapatalk

There's a lot of hope riding on this kid After reading about his contract status, I think that he may be going back to his Czech team and that juniors was for one year. I could be wrong, but that would make sense for having the exchange agreement having the Devils pay 100k since the NHL would be blocking him from playing in the Czech league and his contract with them, no? lucifer91
What about Blandisi? Besides his injury or whatever I thought he supposedly had a strong camp. I was thinking the same thing, someone hopefully someone surprises us at forward. I read HF sometimes just because of sheer amount of people posting and most are predicting the Devils to battle Canes for last in the conference. While I don't think that will be the case with CS in net, I get a little less enthusiastic about the upcoming season. I do look forward to the young D, and also do have hope that someone will surprise us at forward.

My understanding is that he's under contract for Sarnia next season, as well - but if he changes and moves to the NHL, then the Devils are on the hook to his old team in the Czech league for a transfer fee. What I'm unclear about is whether Sarnia is required to pay that fee next season (and this past one) or if it's strictly an NHL clause. I think battling it out with the Canes for last place might be a bit much (...he says with rose-colored glasses...) but I expect to duke it out with Philly for next to last/third to last place. I'd like to see the Devils beat the Flyers & Rangers in every matchup, and then finish next-to-last place in the division to further the rebuild. Of course, that could alienate/piss off Schneider... DevsMan84
I am actually looking forward to this team more than I have the past 2 seasons. I am fully expecting the team to be pretty bad, but with the new coach, the actual attempt at injecting youth into the lineup (instead of the lip service we have been getting the past few seasons), and culture change has me excited. The fact that stuff like rookie camp is now being opened up to fans instead of being treated like it's Area 51 has me excited to see what else they will do this season in terms of fan interaction. Schneider seems to know what is going on with the team and he probably knew it when he signed the extension. I don't think he thought NJ would be a top-notch team in the upcoming seasons and I think he accepts the transition and sees a btight future with the team and is happy in NJ nonetheless. After all he still has 7 years to his contract I believe, and NJ could become contenders by then with Schneider still in pretty goid shape (I believe he will stay solid for a long time). But I get your point.
MantaRay
I am ready to watch young Zacha and Larsson develop into a franchise players. Looking forward to watching the kids play and of course watching Elias at least one more season.

MantaRay
I didn't mean franchise player immediately. I meant I want to watch them develop over the next few years. I am interested in the start of his journey.
themightyall
I'm looking forward to Palmeri. I don't think he was brought up enough. He's a young RW that was stuck behind players in Anaheim and would very much like to see him play well; not to mention he is from NJ (albeit not a Devils fan). I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop too. We're still missing another RWer. Shero alluded to making one more trade and Semin is still unsigned. I really hope to see something that creates more real competition on this team. I don't want this team to be in the Matthews sweepstakes. This team needs to bottom out for another year or two and keep drafting high end forwards. I do agree they need one more middle 6 forward. In my dream: Cammalleri-Zajac-xx Matteau-Henrique-Palmieri Elias-Josefson-Zubrus (ugh) Ruutu-Kalinin-Gionta Greene-Larsson Merrill-Severson Moore-Gelinas
