2015–16 Prospect Thread

I've streamed most of the games in this series and for what it's worth, the Sarnia radio guys have called Blake Speers the Soo's most dangerous player during this series multiple times.

It's great to see Zacha absolutely dominating. He hit a post last night as well and he managed to get through the game without a stupid penalty.

Monday 4/4
WHL Quarterfinals
Western Conference
#B3 Kamloops lost to #B2 Kelowna 2-1 (OT) (Lose Series 4-3)
Ryan Rehill D: -2

-- I still don't rate him but he may have done enough this year to get a contract.

Tuesday 4/5
OHL Quarterfinals
Eastern Conference
#2 Barrie defeated #7 Mississauga 5-1 (Win Series 4-3)
Mackenzie Blackwood G: 22 Saves on 23 Shots

-- Barrie will take on North Bay in the Semifinals.

Western Conference
#2 Sarnia lost to #7 Sault Ste. Marie 4-3 (Lose Series 4-3)
Pavel Zacha C: Goal (PP), E, 4 Shots, 3/9 Faceoffs
Josh Jacobs D: E, 2 PIM (Holding)
Blake Speers C: Goal, -1, 2 PIM (Tripping), 4 Shots, 7/13 Faceoffs
Colton White D: E

-- Sault Ste. Marie will take on Erie in the Semifinals.
-- I expect to see Jacobs sign and go pro.

WHL Quarterfinals
Eastern Conference
#E1 Brandon defeated #W2 Edmonton 10-3 (Win Series 4-2)
John Quenneville C: 2 Assists, +3
Brandon Baddock C: -1

-- Brandon will take on Moose Jaw in the Semifinals.
-- Like Chatham, I don't think that much of Baddock but maybe the fact he is a forward will help him get some sort of pro deal. Not worried either way.

Zacha and Jacobs to AHL now? Or am I mistaken?

Possible I guess, but doubt they see light of day after Boucher, Sislo, Blandisi Mozik etc. go back to Albany. Hopefully we go deep in Calder cup race.

I don't see why they would invite Jacobs to the AHL.  When Severson and Mozik go to Albany that will give them 11 defensemen, and Jacobs would not crack the top 6 of that depth chart.

Albany's regular season doesn't end until April 16 with seven games left in the season, four of which are after the Devils season ends.  If they really wanted to, they should probably be able to get Jacobs into a few of those games before the playoffs start.  Pretty similar to the two games that Severson got in Albany at the end of the 2012-13 season.

Was just thinking since their junior season is done, give the guy a little taste and see if it's something he even wants to aspire to. You gotta keep those young kids hungry and always wanting more. That's what I would argue at least

Also, I'm trying to watch the Frozen Four coming up this weekend.  I really want to see Woods and Santini play in the big game, see how they do.  Gotta make sure to remind myself.  I might even start a thread and hop in chat if other people would be interested in watching

The difference is that I don't think Jacobs is very good, Albany has lots of bodies already there and Albany is preparing for the playoffs - they weren't doing so then.

Ostensibly the point of a try out is to see if the player is any good.  That's especially when he guy is a former second round pick.

Could go either way I suppose

If the A-Devils weren't making the playoffs I would think he would be going there for sure.   Since they are, and they have a chance to go deep, and their D depth is ridiculous already, I'm not sure.  Maybe they'll invite him and then tell him to go home?  That's what just seems weird - the A-Devils could go on a long playoff run.

Can Santini and Wood get some time in with Albany this year or does it work differently for college students?

If they play in Albany it means they have turned pro and their college career is over.  For NCAA guys there is no turning back due to NCAA rules.

Thanks. So they can make that decision now if they choose. I'm assuming it will be a summertime decision though.

speers and white apparently got ATO's w/ Albany. Don't know if that's a precursor to a true contract or not:
